Thanks, I’m replacing mine tomorrow on a 2008 Columbia. I have the drag link with new bolts, cotter pins and grease fittings. We are ready.

it looks like the part was on backwards from the beginning. The first time I changed it the mechanic put it on backwards and my steering wheel was crooked. The next time I had it changed I asked freightliner for a diagram on the correct position. And yes you did put it on correct. It’s suppose to have to upward slant, not a sideways bend.
After you replaced it did your steering wheel go crooked?

The way it was on before he replaced it was backwards. I asked freightliner for a diagram and the was he placed the new one is correct. I know because when the mechanic changed it it made my steering wheel crooked, afterwards I placed it this was and it worked.

Do you feel any difference after changing it. Are there any symptoms when the part is bad?

The way inspect: hold your right hand that link arm and tray to move it back and forth all directions if hear or feel a little knock or play then that’s the time to buy new one..🙏🙌

another way to check is have the truck running grab the steering shaft twist it back and forth while watching for movement without the tire moving. it will be pretty obvious

Loud clunk over bumps, bad roads.

did you have to jack truck up and take weight off suspension to remove drag link? I am trying to replace today.

cujo brown No, just simply do it without jacking the truck up!

How much do you torque the nut?

I did torque by hand, pretty hard, not an exact number! I never had any problems! Good luck

They are called cotter pins not bolts. Also there is a proper torque of around 165 lb lbs that you didn't do. I think I'd take my advice from someone not wearing flip flops.
