I've been going back and forth on whether to get them, but your review sealed the deal! I'm upgrading! I hope it turns out better than it did for Sid and Nancy though-otherwise, I'll just enjoy it while it lasts! Love the reference, by the way!"
Thanks for the review. Just spent two days on a new Sid Ultimate 3P. Great fork. I found psi recommendations about 10 psi too little for hard trail riding. Maybe ok for smooth xc. Wish the 3P was 3 separate levels of LSC. Open, firm, full lock might be ok for racing but not for trail use. Non-race xc/trail bikes with 120 on both ends could use more useful LSC settings. They need a SID Trail.
GuyKes - I would love to see some longer video, describing the whole, every single improvement in the industry that made you most appreciate engineering and the progress the bikes - in general - had made? That would be some nice summary, but probably difficult to create. I mean, due to yours long experience some kind of 'general discussion' of 'how far we came' - would be nice 'eye opener' and would make more of us appreciate what we have. For example, how do You feel, beeing able to ride acustic bike that is full-sus and lighter than 11.9kg, and is less complicated to manage due to geometry or rolls better thanks to 29" wheels .... how is it? How do you experience bikes that 20 years ago would be impossible to build? Just curious!
@GuyKesTV Could you make a video comparison of the latest Pike and ‘24 SID? Which is better for which bike with 120mm travel (Top Fuel, Spark, F-podium etc.)?
Great stuff! Love my Sid Ultimate on my Flaremax both inspired by your feedback! (thanks for the reviews) Interested in those Fast Forward wheels and how they hold up? My next upgrade!
Stoked you’re enjoy the SIDFMax I’m going to do a big ‘downcountry’ wheel round up shortly: Spesh, DT, Reserve, Hunt Proven Carbon and their tnew alloy, FFWD and Z…
This is the best review of this new fork. Thank you. I have a 2022 Specialized Epic Evo comp with a rear shock and front fork that badly need serviced. I think I'll just upgrade to these new RockShox models. Will I need to get a specially tuned rear shock to match my Epic Evo or will this new SID LUXE with a medium tune work fine?
@@Jacob99174 Online, I haven't been able to find the exact shock for our bike either. I suspect one needs to go to a Specialized dealer and order through that channel.
SRAM do their ‘own’ (they look very like ESI) but most should work OK as long as the external diameters aren’t too different. A plastic washer between grip and twister stops them rubbing if they creep together too. I’ve been running the Ergon foam grips recently but they come apart really fast if you grip them hard on techy descents and climbs.
@@GuyKesTV Thanks for the quick reply! Didn't think you'd get to it so soon as I am posting from the states. I appreciate the information. Just started riding XC coming from road/crit and I am realizing I would really like remote lockout. Subbed!
You can buy the Twin Loc from a Scott dealer and replace the twist shifter. I have a Scott Spark RC with Twin Loc and love it. I have the new ‘24 SID SL with twist loc on a SS and hate it…I have the Scott Twin Loc on order. It also comes with a dropper lever if you have a dropper post.
Thanks for the amazing review. I had a doubt the 120mm Cervelo ZFS-5 frameset as it uses a 190x45 rear shox, do you know which is the exact SRAM reference of the SIDLuxe Ultimate 3P that will work on this frameset? And also what is the latest and best Twistlock for the combo setup? (Front fork SID Ultime 3R)?
The fork moving forward,I know not connected with the review but noticed your wearing gyro gloves do they last I ask because all the Fox and endura gloves the stitching come undone very quickly in some cases weeks.
I'm normally a glove killer too but the Giro DND and Xnetic gloves have lasted really well. I'm wearing the really thin Trixter gloves in this video though which tend to get shredded faster
How is it on smoother gravel sections my 2018 Rockshock reba works better on gravel sections than my 2021 Fox 32 SC Performance both with 100 mm travel that is to soft on gravel sections to bouncy
What are buttercups like? I got an old Pike RCT3 for like 100 pounds and after the Debonair spring upgrade I'm honestly left questioning how they can make a fork better than it haha! Do the 'cups remove buzz from gravel and other stuff that normally doesn't make the fork compress at all normally? Or is it more just improving regular small bump sensitivity?
The SIDs don’t have buttercups but TBH I don’t think they really make much difference. There are certainly other issues with stiction that overshadow them on a lot of the latest generation forks. In other words for Pike and Lyrik I’d stick with older versions for now 👍🏻
I've been a big fan of the 120/120mm travel Downcountry bike with a lightweight XC fork since the Transition Spur came out. However, I've been wondering if maybe 120/140mm travel Downcountry bike with a 140mm Fox 34 (Grip 2 damper) might just be better. Of course, the 140mm fork is going to weigh about a pound more but maybe the extra 20mm of travel and the better quality of travel might be worth the extra weight. Any thoughts?
Unless you’re hanging them off the scales you can’t tell any difference. If anything Select+ is even better in a trail situation as there’s more oil in the damper. That’s the only difference so it’s easy to upgrade to Ultimate spec too
No, none of the new gen RockShox do, it’s really annoying. The suggested pressures are 10% too low as well but that’s the only thing that stopped me giving it a perfect score on @bikeperfectweb
At 8:27, you pretty much described my riding style.

does anybody know if you could upgrade it to FA in the future once the kit is available?

Now the real question is if the Manitou R8 Pro is going to take over that « XC benchmark » spot! Terrific, insightful review btw. 🤓
Glad it was useful Francois. I'll get a Manitou R8 in for test ASAP and I'll try and grab a new Fox 32 at the same time.

How does the triple lock compare to the Scott lock system? Is the amount of suspension impacted on the pedal setting?
There’s no travel or progression change, just more low speed compression
