    The cap that you took off for aeration is part of the The Hydro Aeration Technology. This technology allows the pump to mix air with water, which induces the oxidation of iron and manganese within the pool water. This process helps water to stay crystal-clear.
    In addition to that, the concentration of negative ions on the surface of the water is increased by the aeration technology. It further ensures you clean and environment-friendly water for the pool.

    Watched the build and was disappointed not seeing it full, but found this one so am a happy camper. We had a 48x15’ years ago and loved it, but Chicago weather meant fewer months usage and annual set up. Agree with you on the ladder. We kept meaning to upgrade to the cake tier type but after about 6 years, ended up giving it away since in-laws lived in community with huge inground community pool very close.
    Thanks for sharing

    THANK YOU so much for these pool videos!!!! We don't have this pool but we have an Intex 16x48 and last year we had so many issues because when we were setting up and filling we ended up getting 10in of rain in 12 hours... UGH! So the whole summer the pool sat crooked and we didn't want to start all over. For this year we are trying to figure out the best way to level and stabilize the legs just in case it happens again. Your set up video has given me so many ideas that are way more cost efficient!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

    Great job man. Its nothing better than a pool in your backyard. We have a metal frame 20 years ago and never look back ,it was great for our family in the summer months. Today I see this kind of pool more often and it looks great. Maintaining the pool is easy 12 hours running the pump and once a week the algecide and chlorine bar. And the pool is clear al the time. And if you have hard water just ad clarifier for the pool. Have lots of fun and good luck.

    Great video,i have the older intex ultra frame 18 x 52 ,this is my sixth year with this pool the frame is still in excellent condition but the liner has at least 8 to 10 patches but still in decent shape.My pool came with a cartridge filter but upgraded to the intex 3000 GPH sand filter and after two years of the intex skimmer the same as the one your using i decided to upgrade the skimmer to a Hayward above ground pool skimmer,this skimmer mounts on the outside of the pool then cut a hole in the liner so the water can come into the skimmer,this skimmer is far superior to the intex skimmer.it's good that the pool now comes with a sand filter but to be honest it is still quite small,you said the HP of the pump is .23 this is 1/4 horse power my intex sand filter is almost 1 HP with the 16 inch canister at 3000 GPH,with my set up i do very little cleaning,just empty the leaf basket vacuum once a week,Again great video

    My wife just ordered this same pool yesterday (figured if we're in lockdown all summer we'll need something for the kid to do!). I'm not super excited about all the work it's going to take in order to get the desired final result, but I know it's absolutely necessary. Unfortunately our back yard has zero flat spots in it, it's all on a bit of a slope, so that'll be fun. I'm thinking if I sort of start on it now I can break it up over a week or two and maybe it won't seem so bad. I saw another video on setting these up where they used a laster level to get all the legs exactly the same height.

    • @axelruntschke
      @axelruntschke  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laser level would be great to use. Also, consider renting a tiller to break up and loosen the top soil to make it easier to move. Pull from high spots into low spots. Then rent a Compactor to get it nice and flat.

      @@axelruntschke Good tips, thanks! I also had mentioned to my wife how cheapish the ladder that comes with it looks and that I'd likely be building something to replace it...had to chuckle when you mentioned it:) Sigh...I had already planned on building a shed over the summer, so between that and this pool looks like I'll be pretty busy!

    Greetings from the UK - Nice pool! this the best view of the XTR Ultra Frame pool. I have the 15' x 42" Prism Frame pool, due to this being the best depth for my 6 year old. Like you said the pump that comes with the Prism frame pools are the absolute minimum. I have the same 1200 g/hr pump you have, with saltwater system and it's amazing. The XTR pools seem expensive but they are amazing value. FYI, I have the Auto Cleaner too, and it's awsome.

    8/5/21 update: best $250 ever invested on a pool. Shortly after buying the pool, invested on an Intex 2800 gph sand filtration pump for $300. More than a year and a half later my kids and family is still enjoying the pool.

    LOOKS GREAT! We’ve had the Intex 15’x48” prism frame with sand salt filter system! The metal frame ALWAYS rusts, even tho I paint the inside and out with rustolium spray paint! Issue is after you get it up and put the poles together ... kids swim and rock the frame, the paint chips off and RUST! Ugh. Is this the case for this new metal frame? And just for all you ANTI SALTWATER... the metal will still rust even with chlorine if the coating chips off! I did chlorine the VERY FIRST YEAR, and NEVER will I go back. Saltwater is the best for too many reasons to list!

    Thanks for the video, great information that help me to get this exact model from Intex, it is worth the extra money. I used concrete pavers for the legs, they are 1 3/4 “ On your setup are the wood blocks at the floor level or you had to dig? I am wondering if that extra 1 3/4” can create any issue to the liner. Have you noticed any damaged on your pool? Thanks again for your very informative video.

    • @axelruntschke
      @axelruntschke  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most are level with the ground, and a few are a little taller to the top of frame is level. No damage to the liner at all. But with concrete pads, I'd make sure to keep them level with the ground since they have pretty sharp edges.

    • @operez72
      @operez72 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Florida Outlander The pavers are above the ground, what I had to do is to place some foaming pads between the pavers and the liner, I am more worried about that extra 1 3/4” stretch on the liner, not sure if it may damage the liner in the long run.

    Hey, this is a great explanation of all the features of this heavy duty Intex pool, very well done. Do you think one like this could be installed partly in the ground, slightly backfilled and a deck built above the ground, curved around it? Just curious 😊

    • @axelruntschke
      @axelruntschke  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Initially, I thought that could be feasible, but after more research, I simply cannot recommend setting this pool below grade. There simply isn't enough structural integrity. The deck will be fine, obviously.

  • @laxfpvpilot589
    @laxfpvpilot589 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First off, GREAT VIDEO!!!! I have seen all you pool videos. Does the liner have too much stress on the bottom of the seam by putting it on a ~2inch wood you installed? It makes the pool higher and by 2 inches an the seam is elevated vs flat and I think it could cause stress and eventual leak??? I’m asking since I’m doing exactly the same setup and putting a 2” paver but concerned the elevated seam may eventually leak due to pressure. Have you had any issues with leaks or that part of your pool?

    • @axelruntschke
      @axelruntschke  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The boards are more or less even with the ground, so no extra stress involved. I'll also add that Intex did a great job with this liner. 50% stronger than their previous model.

    Great video, we've been wanting to get an OTG pool for the past 2 years but are hesitant when we read reviews of leaks and poor pumps, etc. We ordered an Intex basic frame pool but our ordered was cancelled as the box apparently was damaged when they attempted to ship it. We are looking at the XTR Ultra frame pool now for the better quality it offers along with the 2 year warranty. Our backyard looks pretty leveled with a very slight slope downhill that is hardly visible. Our concern is, it it super crucial that the land be 100% leveled. Will it cause some sort of damage to the pool in any way? Thanks

    • @madmaxd1
      @madmaxd1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what type of grass you have but intrusive grasses like St. Augustine & Bermuda grasses "Will" grow through your liner...
      The manufacturer also recommends not to use sand, since it can easily wash out.. specially if is used on top of ground (above grade).
      We have been several days working the area. We decided to go 2' beyond the boundaries of the pool, to install edging to keep any grass or weed away from the pool sides and then fill that area with mulch al the way around.
      We've already ripped the grass out which happens to be St. Augustine grass, installed the edging and now we're leveling the ground.
      With the assistance of a self made water level, it makes it exact. We plan to install 12" concrete pavers at final grade as well for the 16 vertical support beams.
      Once the pavers are installed and leveled we will be spraying Round-Up, install a weed barrier and a general purpose vinyl tarp covering the entire area just to make sure nothing grows.
      We're hoping this unit last us at least 2 years.

But with Corona not a single pool is available virtually anywhere in my country. I found this one with the sandfilter, the stairs etc etc for 999 euro. Due to Coid-19 we are not allowed to go to southern Europe or even to go to our own coast. And so people buy pools as an alternative. So there is no stock. Also the summers nowadays get so hot you really want to cool off (41 C in the countryside just 2 km form my town last year, 38 C the year before!)...I am sure these pools will be a very popular item for weeks to come.

    @Serenoj69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One question. I have levelled the ground etc. But if I put 4,7 cm thick paves (concrete tiles) on top of the tarp...aren't the legs lifted too high? Or is this not a problem?

    • @axelruntschke
      @axelruntschke  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll want to "bury" the pavers so they're level with the ground.

    • @Serenoj69
      @Serenoj69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@axelruntschke Thx! I did but where the sand (for levelling) is deeper I did raise them a little. A cm or so. I figured they might sink in a bit and if not 1 cm (= less than 0,5") off the mark is not a problem. The thing is 90% filled and yes it is still 1 cm off. I am happy with that. The sun is shining 17 hours a day here and it is really shining all day long so it can do its thing...Watertemp is 15 C now ( 60 F). We'll see how fast it will rise.

Kept it for 2 summers and then bought a 24ftx52in Eclipse. We hope to build a deck around it next spring. A deck around the pool will make it so much easier for me to vacuum without being in the car since I am only 4' 10" tall. Well it is time to close the pool so I hope you have had a great summer with your pool. God bless you
