I just started my pool adventure this year (2023) with the same plan of building as we go. Thank you for the inspiration and a visual goal to strive for. This setup looks amazing.
I could afford a $6000 - $8000 above ground pool but instead I bought an $800 20' Intex pool similar to yours with another $500 or so on upgrades. I spent the ~$5000 I saved on other things. IMO it's the smart way to do it. Sure, a hard-wall pool could last 20 years and you'd be lucky to get more than 5 out of one of these but that's okay, if I still want it when it fails I'll just buy another, if each lasts 3-4 years I'll still come out ahead and in the meantime I was able to buy a bunch of other fun things to enjoy with the savings. People being elitist over what is essentially a big tub of water is ridiculous.
I know this is an older video at this point but wanted to say who cares what everyone else thinks! We’re getting ready to put up an Intex Ultra XTR in the next few weeks and I hadn’t seen your video yet but I’m going about it in the same way. I built a patio first to house my grills, I just got my land leveled and a retaining wall built. Pool is the next piece and next year maybe I will spend additional money to upgrade the pump, add decking, add furniture, whatever! Not everyone has the means to throw thousands of dollars at something that just adds to the comfort of your home. Too often we think we have to have everything right now. I’d much rather take my time, do it right, not kill myself with debt, and still be able to enjoy my pool even if it’s not pristine YET! You’ve got an excellent set up. Be proud of it!
The unit heats up fast and is super quiet. It looks fancy th-cam.com/users/postUgkxl8Od2BvnGbn1ffwqsuFXW0QnmcZgMiVY and can be kept in the living room. It gets hot within a split second of turning on the unit. The build quality is exceptionally good and is safe to be around kids and pets. This one is super quiet and can be kept on while in office meetings, my wife loved it. It shows the temperature right on the unit which is very useful and adding a rotating feature helps to heat up the surrounding, so other people will not fight with you for heat. It is right as described in the description..!! Definitely recommend!!
This is a top notch above ground pool and deck setup. Your attention to detail is on point. I’d love to have this exact setup in my yard. Incredible job.
Dollar tree foam pool noodles are what we use in between the open gaps for the wasp issues! Easy to cut to fit the space. Also easy to put in and remove plus super cheap
As a recently retired remodeler, I think you did a great job..!! I have done large decks and screen decks with deck covers, but I have recently been widowed and my new girlfriend set up an Intex 18’ x 48” pool. This is not her first pool, so she brought her big pump and sand filter…the water cleared up practically overnight. But we have to have some sort of landing and steps asap because she also has an upgraded ladder that goes on the inside. So when she comes back from the grocery store I will make sure she sees your video. Awesome waterfall and skimmer upgrades. Love your deck design….prices are getting better in 2023, but basically you have to bite the bullet if you want something built. So your concept of upgrades is very good too. Thank you for your time and effort.
Yea... if you have all the time and money in the world to do what you like, you can single-handedly even build a very NICE $20 million dollar mansion, Marcis... LOL...
I really appreciate how passionate you are about your pool and all of the ambiance. You are very detail oriented and thorough. Im happy to see the new pool too! You have done a great job making your backyard into an oasis that many of us can only dream about. Thank you for all of the knowledge and tips you have shared throughout your pool journey!
Me thinks you’re an awesome, creative builder! Love, love everything you’ve done and how u gave rationale for each aspect of the build. Beautiful and looks like so much fun. I’m a senior female and your ‘honey do list’ just got WAY longer!
I’ve watched a few of your videos and I realized I could listen to you talk about your pool and deck for hours lol. You are truly talented! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and information with us!
I have watched all your videos. 1st year I have a pool, I’ve waited all my life, 61 years. I have learned so much from you! You’re a smart man, you are thorough, you explain yourself so well, & you have great taste! I love your upgrades. Enjoy the fruits of your labor! (I have started with an easy set pool too, lol. I think you have to be highly intelligent to see the BIG picture 😉!). Also, I just want to say thank you for the service you have provided for all of us ‘beginners’ through your intelligence & experience! God bless you!
I am shocked the apparent backlash over the price points. I personally find it especially helpful so I have a rough idea of how to budget properly for such a project so to hell with the begrudgers. When you live/use your outside space so much like you do, it should be done properly otherwise it simply doesn't last. 3 years on, I'll bet it's still pretty perfect!!! I have had a pool every year of my childrens lives and have been working up to close to what you have. I am buying a new house in 6 months and have been planning for this kind of set up so This is a fantastic video, you are so informative and helpful. Thanks so much for all your effort 💜💜💜
It’s freaking beautiful. I love it. You did a great job. I have an Intex pool. This is our 3 rd year and we don’t take ours down though the winter. We winterize the pool and just take care of it. It’s been great. My husband hard plumed it and we upgraded the pump and filter, we got the Hayward skimmer like yours. Did a pretty good size deck around half of it with all the landscaping…we also had to do it in stages. It took us 3 years to get where we are at now. We did build our deck last year. Anyway, you did a fabulous job. Hell with the assholes.
I would love a patio just like yours and deck and that pool to relax with my husband and when my grand kids come over thank you you gave me a very nice idea on how I want my back yard .Thank you
I’m recently widowed. My husband was going to do an inground pool. But since the big changes I did buy one of these easy set pools in 30 foot. I was so disappointed that I’m not gonna have my inground pool until I saw this. I was prepared to have a 30 foot gaping hole in my yard. But with your fire pit idea I’m thrilled. Now I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to do in that spot. I think your pool and your set up are beautiful. And nobody should go into debt. It’s 2022 and the lumber is still high. I’ll wait another year or so for the deck. Thank you so much for your information and your wisdom. God bless you and your family.
This is the absolute BEST above ground setup I’ve seen to date. I live in central Florida. We have a vinyl frame/vinyl-coated steel wall 18 round. Nothing but nothing keeps critters from burrowing underneath our pool. Moles, beetles, ants etc. cut all kinds of tracks down there. We have an awesome Tuff Shed as well. I am drawing up the plans right now to somewhat copy your setup in our backyard. We already have the rocks, the coral (from the family aquarium business), and pavers for the entry to our stairs. We had our concrete guy (from our Tuff Shed install) come out today to give us an estimate for our slab for underneath the pool. I told him all about you and your lovely yard. He’s never been called to do a job for underneath a pool before. So we’re giving him a new avenue thanks to you. But I love how neat and clean and beautiful the esthetics of your whole space are. I hope you and yours are still enjoying it. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Mike, Gareth from the UK 🇬🇧 love you brutal honesty and have watched all your pool videos. Unfortunately in life there will always be people trying to tear others down but at the end of the day if you are happy with the results, then that’s all that matters. Think someone else commented but there should be a black cap that fits on the air filter that would stop the jet from leaking. On the heywood, I fitted one to my pool but above the line. What I did was not cut the full square out but just the bottom part of the single liner and left the top part in tact where it’s reinforced, this will allow me to get the water lever to a higher point. Excellent setup, think next year I’ll be doing a decking, as you said step by step :-) Cheers Mike
You did a fantastic job with your pool . Man the price of wood is insane !! . I bought a 2x10x 8 and it cost me $38 , I almost had a heart attack . Cheers and stay safe 🇨🇦
Mike, I've watched your videos several times and I just want to thank you for your amazing in depth videos. You've helped me a ton! I hope to see an update this year on how you're doing and how your pool is doing. Your set up is really beautiful!
Aloha, your video is great! I know this is an older video and idk if anyone brought this up. We had a pool like this for years but recently upgraded. You can unscrew the part where your pool is leaking. We did this everyday when turning off the pump. Unscrew that piece put in a piece of plastic (a ziplock bag will do) and screw it back down. Your pool will no longer leak!
Well done Mike, this is a super setup. The summers done here in the UK, but you've inspired me to change up my 15' x 42" 2019 Intex pool for next year (2022).
This setup is beautiful! #goals haha We just bought our first pool (15' Intex Graphite Panel) and I was on here looking for installation tips and tricks and stumbled across this. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos
I just got the 15×42 and at this very moment I'm completely nuts!!!! Fedex drove me nuts with the shipping then the parts I couldn't find so yesterday I I had a full blown meltdown so today I'm stressed out and completely NUTSSSS 🙃 😖😣 So I named it THE POOL FROM HELL🤣🤣🤣 Enjoy your pool 🙏🌹🙏
Dude, be proud of your pool and setup. Great looking backyard and pool. My aluminum ripped in half after six years with so much rust inside. I was pissed. It doesn’t matter what you paid. Anything can happen to anyone. Enjoy your pool with the family.
Great video! I have been in the pool business in the Phoenix area for 20 years and I think Mike has done it right. For the ignorant naysayers out there, not everyone is a rich Californian Equity Refugee and can afford to ask "when", rather than "how much". It will cost someone a minimum $32,000.00 for a small perimeter play pool with a tiny bit of Kool decking and that is if you can get them to call you back!!! I think what Mike has done here is awesome, a nice pool to cool off in and a fantastic deck to enjoy with his family. He's done all of this for (I would guess) less than a third of the cost of an inground pool.
You are spot-on accurate with your estimate of my cost to build all of this. Some people (not all) have absolutely no clue what an in-ground pool costs to install. Even an above-ground set-up like mine in it's entirety wasn't cheap. I'm a simple man . . . and this little backyard project came out better than I hoped - and works for me because it's all I need right now. Maybe someday when I have my "forever" home I'll have a beautiful in-ground pool built along with the home, but not for this house. Thanks for the compliments Greg. . . at least somebody gets it!
Mike thank you for such a comprehensive video story. This is one of the best performances for both the pool equipment (I mean the skimmer) and the wooden frame deck extension. Looks very tasteful. Inspires to build something like that.
Hey, Mike this is the first video I’ve seen of yours. I love your explanations, and insight. I have seen hundreds of videos on tips for above ground pool owners. I have to say, his is exactly what I’ve been searching for. Your honesty and experiences u had was spot on. Keep up the good videos and I ill be following your page. Hank you.
@@mikesanchez9654 GREAT JOB !! I watched your video of the easy set pool last year 2020. I remember you saying when you buy your new house your going to go with your dream pool. We have the intex 16×48 ultra steel frame pool we had it last summer and left it up for the winter here in Illinois. We drained it below the intake holes and treated it with the winter chemical kit from IN THE SWIM. We covered it and when we opened it May 1 it was crystal clear. We just shut it down this weekend and are leaving it up again. Next spring thinking about upgrading the sand filter and pump that came with it to a bigger one. The one now i believe is 2100 gph. Do you have any suggestions or opinions on filters. Going to stay with chlorine.it worked great for us but just want to move water faster. Now you just need another circular pad for the fire pit abd chairs therefore you can keep pool up year round lol. Although i bet its easy to put up with that nice level pad. Again GREAT JOB!!
@@iamkazie9401 I took down my pool a few days ago and I'm ready to build a fire in my pit - but it's raining now. Although draining and taking down the pool isn't easy, I manage it pretty well. It's a waste of water for sure, but the cost of water here is so minimal. About the pump and filter. . . I went with a Hayward set up for one important reason - Hayward has been in the business for almost a hundred years! They make quality pumps and filters and have a good reputation. The pump I have is really powerful and the 21" sand filter is awesome, it was the smartest upgrade I made by a long shot. It really comes down to money and what your budget is. I think I paid $800 for the pump and filter in 2021, plus an additional $200 for all the plumbing parts. And there are several different types of media that can be used rather than simple sand (polyester, glass beads, cotton balls, etc.) and I've tried a few. . .they are all garbage! Trust me - sand works better than anything else. And finally, I put everything on a timer - set at 4 on and 4 off around the clock.
@@mikesanchez9654 your set up is how I imagined mine to be to an existent! I usually Google and try to figure things out like “water flow/return rate” but I am having a few problems. This I think is a simple yes or no question. Do both of your standard returns still run while your Hayward skimmer is running?
@@RetroverseMedia Great question. The way I installed my skimmer was by using one of the two returns. So, water's being sucked through the skimmer and the other is being sucked through the other return. In doing so, I had to cap off that second return in the pool wall when I diverted the hose over to the skimmer. In theory I could have kept it and essentially had three returns including the skimmer . . . but the reason I didn't, is because it would have reduced the skimmer's suction significantly. You need as much suction as possible at the skimmer to capture all that floating debris. Anyway, that's how I did it.
Absolutely beautiful pool setup Yes great advice plan for next summer,, and don’t forget concrete slab will keep gophers from chewing,,also thanks for chatting with me in the comments I really appreciated it very much !!! Sending hugs from California 😀😍
July 15th. I’m putting up a pool, hopefully by the weekend. Our pool is pretty much the same as what you have. Your set up is beautiful!!! Thanks for the info.
Beautiful job. You’ve given me some very useful information and great ideas. I’ve got an Intex Ultra Frame 18’x52” pool from 2014!!! I finally was able to order a new liner from Intex. I took the old pool down to find rust under the powder coat. I’ve scraped; sanded; etc 18 vertical legs and I’m finally ready to put it up with the new liner and new pump
Again, well done young man, well done. We have the Summer Waves 16' X 48" pool with the skimmer plus system. This year we upgraded to the Intex 3000 gph sand filter. And we got a ladder exactly like yours. Thanks for the inspiration.
Ava Gates we have the intex16 x48 with the 2100 gph sand filter and pump. Hoping to upgrade to a bigger filter &pump next season Did you notice a big difference with your upgrade? Thanks in advance!!
Mike, I watched the last video and was blown away by your setup. This upgrade looks amazing!!!! We too have an intex pool and working on a set up using yours as a blueprint, THANK YOU 😊 😊😊😊
Hey Mike, great set up! We now have the dock ladder that you have and it’s been an amazing upgrade for our pool. Just an FYI on the leak at your aerator; your pump should have come with a rubber cap for it. It still allows the pump to run without aeration and should help to mitigate the leak. Cheers!
I just wrapped the air inlets with electrical tape and put the cap over it. I think the aeration is to help change the pH of your water if I remember correctly.
Wow!! I am impressed with your innovative design and fabrication of your your deck, and the fact that you can use this all year round, with or without your pool. Awesome Idea!!
Excellent upgrade. Thank you. Well I know how I’m going about my setup now. I’ll just do what you did. Love the birdhouses and the natural growth behind the deck. If there were awards for TH-cam videos, you would be a winner.
That's a really nice setup! I understand the doing it in stages, as most of us get to summer and want it "now" but things like the slab and foundation for the deck aren't something you can just do on a moments notice.
Your yard and pool setup are top notch! I have almost the same Intex pool off of Amazon, maybe a few feet wider. I went with the Hayward skimmer too, but didn't know about the wider opening. I had leaking issues on the outside, so maybe I didn't have the gaskets just right, but nothing some Flex spray and stuff couldn't fix. Not the prettiest job, but it doesn't leak. I also bought anther twist valve and attached that to the bottom of the skimmer so I could shut off the water if I had to open the pump basket and dump the leaves. Love your winter setup too. Very cozy looking. I'll look into that wider attachment as my floating chlorine tablet holder keeps getting stuck in the smaller opening. Now I just have to figure out how to "clarify" my pool. so cloudy even after shock and algicide treatment. Oh, and same with everyone else...waiting for wood prices to drop so I can build the deck. Enjoy!
Your setup looks great. My neighbor has one and loves his also. On the vac hose plate issue you were having, there is a trick to it. Using that particular vac head plate is the only way I vacuum mine. You're free to do yours however you wish lol, of course, but I'll tell you the trick and why I use the vac hose plate. Here's the trick incase you want to try it-The skimmer door flap is made to be removed specifically for vacuuming purposes, so take it off ( one side of the door flap slips into a small hole and the other side has a groove in it, line that up and a little side to side motion allows it to slip off easily, then place the vac hose plate into the hole of the skimmer from the backside ( the water side) of the skimmer after ensuring you've filled your vac hose properly with water, place the vac hose plate over the basket, and start vacuuming. It is recommended that you always leave the skimmer basket in the skimmer when vacuuming to prevent possibly damaging your pump and from having to empty the basket located inside the pump as often- emptying that internal pump basket is a royal PITA to do. The sound of the flow during vacuuming will change when your skimmer basket gets full. I hope this helps.
It has been great to see what you have put together. I appreciate the time you have taken providing your thoughts about your design and build choices. Thank you for sharing.
That is a really nice setup. Just finished getting my pool up today. Hope the lumber prices drop soon so we can get a deck put in. As far as people not looking long term and talking crap about your initial setup , I wouldn't let it bother me. You made that money. Spend it how ever you see fit.
Lumber prices should be dropping commercially soon. The futures on lumber are already rapidly dropping, and should stabilize in 4-5 weeks or so, based on what the non-commercial market is doing. Lumber won't get back down to pre-covid prices any time soon, if ever, but they will be much more reasonable than the current situation. Just hold out for a few months and watch them drop. I'd bet that late-fall time period you'd be able to start your deck without selling a kidney, and that would put you in a good timeframe by next summer to be able to stain your deck after the wood settles and off-gasses if you wanted to go that route.
You did a fantastic job with your detailed information! I absolutely loved it. I love the deck and I would hire you any time to make me one. Your yard is beautiful. That’s a great idea to change it out during the winter and summer. Thank you for the info. Great video too.
I am so happy for you. I was happy with the older pool as well - clearly you take pride in all the work you do at your house; but this pool just looks so much nicer and definitely I can see it adding a value to your house. Curious if you have the vacuums from the intex that you hooks up to the water return- would love to see the review of the newer one ( we have the old one but would love to see the benefits of the new one). Once again - super happy for you - looks amazing!
Love your backyard! We are planning for next summer. The easy set pool is something the kids and I can put up ourselves. For the first year we will have a slab and smallish deck. We can upgrade and enlarge the deck in the future. Thanks for the inspiration.
Just up graded my intex they give you a plug for the aerator. I also over the last 10 years used the gym mats under the pool they sell on Amazon. Mine is on a concrete slab as well. Love the skimmer idea will go that route next year when I put mine up. I live in north Texas and we do the same thing as you do and never had problems taking down and putting up. We do it in about 1 hour and it’s a 20’
Love it! Looks beautiful & love how you use the same space for multiple uses.I like when people give prices..it helps. Who cares what others say or think..their negativity is irrelevant:) I have the rectangular Intex pool. This is my 4th year with it. Intex pools are really good and durable
Love this video!! We had 16x48 for 4 years and decided this year to upgrade to bigger 18x48 Summer waves loving our pool and its amazing to come to after long day at work on a nice sunny day and relax or just a day off on a sunny day is relaxing and refreshing .......love the deck idea I personally think we dont need it not something we wanted or want but urs looks amazing we have area by the pool with foundation and chairs on top so its like having a deck .......these pools are great I love them because whenever we decide we dont feel like doing maintenance or we had enough of it we can take it down and we are good unlike others its super heavy and bulky Thanks for this video like the idea of hookin up the vacuum on that end and the tools for it hope ur still enjoying it greetings from Chicago
From the UK. This is awesome. Looks great. True what you say about building mats, it's the same here in the UK. Prices have gone through the roof. Madness!!!
Man I LOVE your set up! I've watched about all your pool videos and I've greatly enjoyed them! They're very informative, I thought! I think it's a shame you've received criticism in the past over your setup.. some folks just don't realize everyone is different with different needs and priorities. LOL It's been real neat watching your area develop over the videos. The deck right now is SO GORGEOUS! Such relaxing beach vibes!! I love how you use it in the winter too.. we "stan" versatility kings. 😎 This is so inspirational for whenever I finally can have a real pool. 😍 Right now we only have one of those snapset kiddie pools but hey sitting in 10 inches water beats melting in this Texas heat. LOL
LOL . . . anything is better than nothing - it's just too damn hot right now. I know that one day you'll have a beautiful pool set up too. Chase the dream!
Price of lumber on 6/15/2021: $1,009.90 per thousand board feet, down 41% from the record of $1,711.20 in May. The price in June 2020 was around $420.00 per thousand board feet. Prices are coming down, but unless you have acres of timber and your own sawmill, take Mike's advice and wait until next year to build your dream deck.🙂
Or honestly even later this year. We won't hit pre-covid prices anytime soon, but the commercial market should start dropping rapidly within a few months.
I've been working on my own pool projects over the years and like you say, it is a process of doing and learning. Its actually part of the fun. Saw your previous video and now this one, GREAT upgrades.
Absolutely one of the best set ups I’ve seen on TH-cam.. I just added the Hayward Skimmer and so far love it! My one question is did you plug the two outlets ? I didn’t notice if you did and how you did it.. Again you’ve got a kickass set up !
I know this is old, but figured I would just say somethng in case you hadn't figured it out yet. With the aerator, mine came with a little black cap that I put over the top of it so that the water won't leak out when the pump is off. I had no idea what the black cap came with until I looked it up online and I also learned what aeration does for the water...which is actually beneficial, if you are curious about it it's worth researching.
Wow. I am impressed. I also live near Austin and am putting up my first pool. One possible solution for the aerator leakage would be a plastic extension to raise the openings above the pool water level however that may affect air/water mixing.
This looks beautiful!! I love how precise and creative you are! Engineer? I wonder if pool noodles would solve your problem on the edges of the pool? Cut to fit, round, soft to the touch? Neon colors may be an eye sore though... Just a thought!
They deteriorate in the sun and cause a mess. Maybe bird netting stuffed inside? It doesn't flake in the sun and you could pack it in each end and it's black so you wouldn't see it. It would just look dark.
I'm up about 60 miles north of Austin. I like your setup. Just bought a 12x33 starter summer wave pool. If i like having a pool and learn the intricacies of owning a pool i plan to just build an in ground cinder block pool. I can basically do it all, concrete, masonry, plumbing and electrical... the hard part is digging the hole, but we plan on having several raised garden beds which will take care of most of the dirt.
excellent video ~ thanks! I'm new to the "pool" thing this year but have done the same as you, starting small...bought a Intex 12 x 30" deep round.... will see how I like it first and then can always exchange it in later years.... my husband is like you~ very detail oriented so, I plan to do sort of what you have done. GREAT job! thanks for the info!!
Hi Mike, I just saw your other video from last year! This new pool is very nice and I understand why this was purchased since you change out the scenery for the fall/winter season - good idea on the layout too. Enjoy it. You seem to be very handy with the building abilities. Building is a great asset for improving your property inside and out. Great job!
Omg 😍i loove the setting looks so clean and organized 💯love it love it love it you did a great job enjoy your new pool happy summer thank you for the tips really appreciated
I like your style of problem solving. Very methodical and logical. I think even though you spent a lot, you didn't do badly at all. This is as good as it gets for this type of setup and you should rest easy knowing you did a fantastic job. Remember, the memories you make there with friends and family are priceless. Enjoy the space!
I have a similar pool and did the same through wall skimmer. Congratulations on the upgrade it’s a smarter choice! Oh I live about an hour from Austin and we leave ours up year round. Even survived the once in a 100 years freeze! Try filling the hose with your return jet with the hose attached vac head and the vac head under water before attaching to the skimmer plate. Works every time! By the way, we did our skimmer the same way you did even though Leslies told us it wouldn’t work, it works great!
My pool journey is similar to yours. I discovered the Hayward skimmer about 5 or 6 years ago and it changed our pool maintenance immensely. I hated that aerator too, plugged it up and no more leak.
Thank you for your videos. You videos are a big help for us beginners who are thinking about above ground pool fun without breaking the bank! We all can learn from others trials and errors. Houston is great place for a pool during summer
I love the landscaping around this pool. The deck is awesome. Above ground pools usually aren’t this awesomely placed. Great job.
I just started my pool adventure this year (2023) with the same plan of building as we go. Thank you for the inspiration and a visual goal to strive for. This setup looks amazing.
I think it looks fantastic and who cares what others say. It’s your home do what’s best for you and your family!
Yeah
Agreed.
Exactly because that's Beautiful 😍
yep, don't listen to the haters, just enjoy your pool. It looks awesome and gave me some ideas for decking on mine! Thanks for the video!
I am just getting a pool like this, much smaller. But I was wondering about using cut up pool noodles plug those little holes.
I preferred lumber yards but I have a 20 year + relationship with a couple of good lumber yards…do your research !
I admire this guy he's so proud of his amazing work which he should it all looks amazing. Good job hun!!!
Looks really good, I have never seen an intex pool looking this good anywhere. Good job👏 👍🏻
How did u do the water fall? Please provide video on that install
Yea... if you have all the time and money in the world to do what you like, you can single-handedly even build a very NICE $20 million dollar mansion, Marcis...
Thanks Lisa :)
This is by far the best looking pool I've seen!!!! Looks amazing.
Setting up “Mama’s Playland”….little by little. It’s gonna be great ……just like yours my friend.
What do you do to winterize your pool?
Sweet setup! I appreciate the seasonal flexibility of it and your creativity. Very inspirational.
Did you go with getting the slab? I don't have as big of a pool but I am afraid it's going to sink or critter problems like you said.
Excellent setup, think next year I’ll be doing a decking, as you said step by step :-)
Cheers Mike
Thank you. I bought a 15ft intex in 2020. Now I want to go a little smaller. I do appreciate all your videos. Thank you.
You did a fantastic job with your pool . Man the price of wood is insane !! . I bought a 2x10x 8 and it cost me $38 , I almost had a heart attack . Cheers and stay safe 🇨🇦
Thanks to sleepy Joe Biden.......
OMG I need to buy a 15×15 so let me start praying now 🙏🤣🤣🤣
Mike, I've watched your videos several times and I just want to thank you for your amazing in depth videos. You've helped me a ton! I hope to see an update this year on how you're doing and how your pool is doing. Your set up is really beautiful!
Stop worrying about the morons, my friend. You've done well, and you're giving me some ideas!
It’s absolutely Beautiful. Great job. I would never leave my backyard if it looked like yours. Great job!!!👍👏👏👏👏
Love it, and I totally understand doing bits at a time. Not everyone can just fork out for everything or exactly what they want at one time.
Your pool will no longer leak!
you worked hard and it is beautiful, i'm sure your family enjoys it.
We just got our Intex pool up and we are doing stages also. I love what you've done. Thank you for the ideas.
This is hands down the most beautiful and thoughtful pool set up I have yet to see. I love your fountain ❤
Awesome setup, your family has to love that pool and fire pit combo!
Wow. Looks like you engineered this project well and covered all the details!
I just installed a pool and I'm dreaming of installing a deck. Your set-up blows my mind lol. Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
. O.
You did a wonderful job with the whole setup. Perfectly clean, simple, and thoughtful. Best looking above ground pool build I've seen. Great job.
And look at the rest of his videos. Everything is perfect. I mean, absolutely perfect. His garage and shed wow.
Love the look of your entire setup!! Thanks for all the tips too, especially regarding the Hayward skimmer.
Hank you.
I like the philosophy: if you build, build something that last. And the decent quality gives you long time enjoyment.
Got that from my Dad - he hated when people would build crap! He'd say - build it right the first time or you're gonna have to do it twice.
Absolutely beautiful pool setup
Yes great advice plan for next summer,, and don’t forget concrete slab will keep gophers from chewing,,also thanks for chatting with me in the comments I really appreciated it very much !!!
Sending hugs from
California 😀😍
July 15th. I’m putting up a pool, hopefully by the weekend. Our pool is pretty much the same as what you have.
Your set up is beautiful!!! Thanks for the info.
One if the best above ground pool set ups ive ever seen, you sir have a very beautiful yard 🫡
This guy is sooo proud of his pool lol all these videos on this pool. Good for you man looks great!!!
Absolutely beautiful yard! You did an amazing job designing it!
Finally, the pool man has changed to an ultra frame pool setup. GOOD JOB 👍
I'll still do some tweaking here and there but I'll stick with this pool until it wears out or gets damaged.
BTW. I LOVE your deck and the way you connected your pump via PVC. I may totally copy that from you! Have a great summer 2022
Again, well done young man, well done. We have the Summer Waves 16' X 48" pool with the skimmer plus system. This year we
upgraded to the Intex 3000 gph sand filter. And we got a ladder exactly like yours. Thanks for the inspiration.
No problem :)
Ava Gates we have the intex16 x48 with the 2100 gph sand filter and pump. Hoping to upgrade to a bigger filter &pump next season Did you notice a big difference with your upgrade? Thanks in advance!!
@@iamkazie9401 Yes we saw a big difference with sand filter.
Mike, I watched the last video and was blown away by your setup. This upgrade looks amazing!!!! We too have an intex pool and working on a set up using yours as a blueprint, THANK YOU 😊 😊😊😊
Dreese, I'm so happy for you guys, I would love to see it when it's all done. Chase that dream girl before it fades away!
Hey Mike, great set up! We now have the dock ladder that you have and it’s been an amazing upgrade for our pool. Just an FYI on the leak at your aerator; your pump should have come with a rubber cap for it. It still allows the pump to run without aeration and should help to mitigate the leak. Cheers!
Yeah, I'm looking for it now - I kept it somewhere!
Could you plug it with jb weld then put the rubber on top to hide the weld?
@@TheRainHarvester That would be a more permanent solution if you never wanted aeration again. I’m not sure what effect JB Weld would have on plastic.
Beautiful pool ,the deck brings it all together, really nicely
Enjoy!
This is a perfect setup you got here. You did a great job.
Problem solved. Instead of plugging the valve, create an extension valve higher than the water level. Then you'll have both and not lose anything.
I was going to suggest that until I started reading the comments
It has been great to see what you have put together. I appreciate the time you have taken providing your thoughts about your design and build choices. Thank you for sharing.
That is a really nice setup. Just finished getting my pool up today. Hope the lumber prices drop soon so we can get a deck put in. As far as people not looking long term and talking crap about your initial setup , I wouldn't let it bother me. You made that money. Spend it how ever you see fit.
Thanks buddy!
Thanks.
Looks awesome Mike!! Wouldn't worry about negative comments, you're able to do what alot people can't. That being ... You made your own happiness!!
We had 16x48 for 4 years and decided this year to upgrade to bigger 18x48 Summer waves loving our pool and its amazing to come to after long day at work on a nice sunny day and relax or just a day off on a sunny day is relaxing and refreshing .......love the deck idea I personally think we dont need it not something we wanted or want but urs looks amazing we have area by the pool with foundation and chairs on top so its like having a deck .......these pools are great I love them because whenever we decide we dont feel like doing maintenance or we had enough of it we can take it down and we are good unlike others its super heavy and bulky
Thanks for this video like the idea of hookin up the vacuum on that end and the tools for it hope ur still enjoying it greetings from Chicago
Otherwise a really nice setup, really like the deck you have around the pool.
LOL
It's been real neat watching your area develop over the videos. The deck right now is SO GORGEOUS! Such relaxing beach vibes!! I love how you use it in the winter too.. we "stan" versatility kings. 😎
This is so inspirational for whenever I finally can have a real pool.
I am truly impressed. Your attention to detail and big picture planning are truly remarkable.
Price of lumber on 6/15/2021:
$1,009.90 per thousand board feet, down 41% from the record of $1,711.20 in May.
That aerator comes with a black rubber cap that you can fix the leak with.
Pool looks amazing. You should be very proud of such fine detail and craftsmanship.
Absolutely one of the best set ups I’ve seen on TH-cam.. I just added the Hayward Skimmer and so far love it! My one question is did you plug the two outlets ? I didn’t notice if you did and how you did it.. Again you’ve got a kickass set up !
Kickass 💯
Been wondering the same
I know this is old, but figured I would just say somethng in case you hadn't figured it out yet. With the aerator, mine came with a little black cap that I put over the top of it so that the water won't leak out when the pump is off. I had no idea what the black cap came with until I looked it up online and I also learned what aeration does for the water...which is actually beneficial, if you are curious about it it's worth researching.
So inviting! I love everything about it. Do you have an HOA? If yes, any issues getting approval?
6/2022 .
Oh wow here i am! This is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing everything i hope you continue to share.
What happened with the Easy set pool
I sold it to a neighbor friend.
What happened to the last one
I actually sold it to a neighbor.
excellent video ~ thanks!
Hi Mike,
I just saw your other video from last year! This new pool is very nice and I understand why this was purchased since you change out the scenery for the fall/winter season - good idea on the layout too. Enjoy it. You seem to be very handy with the building abilities. Building is a great asset for improving your property inside and out. Great job!
Great looking backyard, deck & pool! Ty so much for sharing your knowledge
That is absolutely beautiful the way you switch from the pool to firepit wow awsome job
Beautiful job and you are a true craftsman, thanks for sharing, hope your family enjoys all your hard work!
My pool journey is similar to yours. I discovered the Hayward skimmer about 5 or 6 years ago and it changed our pool maintenance immensely. I hated that aerator too, plugged it up and no more leak.
I came across this channel as im trying to find ideas for a pool. I must say im loving this set up. Great job!
You have to fill the hose up with water before you can vacuum and it creates the suction. I had a pump like that for 18 years. Loved it.
Thank you for your videos. You videos are a big help for us beginners who are thinking about above ground pool fun without breaking the bank! We all can learn from others trials and errors. Houston is great place for a pool during summer
