I dig this style. Breaking it all down, having references to prior works, and solid examples of your points. More people should discuss music like this. Really diving into the mindset of an album, their impressions and thoughts of its various aspects. Hell, I'm writing this like some paper now. lol. Good stuff man
IMO Job for a Cowboy became a real band when Nick Schendzielos joined, and finally we can see the beast that this beautiful man really is, already AOTY material
goddamn Navene really added so much to their sound. love this album so much! that Vitriol album is also one of the best extreme metal albums I've heard in a while, goddamn we are EATING GOOD!!!!
I found myself nodding and saying "yes" out loud three times while watching this review. I couldn't agree more! I really believe the secret of their new sound is the bass like you keep mentioning. Every song is a complex wall of sounds that sit well with me but are busy enough to where I always have to go back and listen to grasp any sort of grounding for the song. This was the easiest 5 out of 5 skulls ever. Edit: New rule. If you give this album a 9/10 you must list at least ONE 10/10 album right after. Nah. Kidding. Sort of.
This was my most anticipated album after hearing the singles from last year. I'm even more excited now after this review to dive into this album! Sounds soooo good on a compositional and production level.
Seriously dude, your explanation of how you felt about Sun Eater LITERALLY put into words my feelings at the time as well, and I never knew how to convey that. I 100% fucking agree with that.
Thank you so much! Glad I am not alone in that. Feels like a unique thing I felt, so it's cool that I'm not totally off my rocker and it's a sentiment shared by others. Check the album out now in the context of a scene less defined by the problems back then, and you'll have a newfound appreciation for it, I'm sure, especially with this one to complete the picture even more.
I listened to it for the second time yesterday while doing housework. This album is a fuckin banger. It will definitely be on a lot of people’s top albums of the year lists.
Good to see you back on the channel, Brad! Job for a Cowboy has always been a love or hate band for me. Their earlier stuff I definitely hated, but somehow caught them live like four or five times due to them touring with every band I wanted to see. Sun Eater and Demonocracy were great, though, and I'm definitely enjoying this new release.
You can use "personified" to discuss albums because personification means "the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman". Though what I think you are looking for is more about the unification of ideas present on the two albums.
Hundred percent agree with you on this Brad, JFAC is absolutely fantastic and love the shout outs for Aborted / Vitriol / Skelly Remains and Ingested. All really top tier albums - and love the Horror aesthetic of Aborted's new record too. Really excellent stuff!
I've been a fan since the start it's amazing how they have gone from entombment of a machine to moon healer I love all of there progressions and can't wait to see them live if they ever tour Australia on this album
Agreed, i love this LP. I pre-ordered Moon Healer when it got announced. I was nervous because I went dark until release. Everything worry melted away when I listened to it from start to finish. I don’t know about 10/10 or whatever. I just know I like this album a lot.
you mentioned mastodon which sort of solidifies my opinion in that jfac is the mastodon of death metal. there's more similarities than differences if you really think about it. no i'm not saying they're ripping off mastodon. i'm saying they're equivalent.
GENESIS will always be their very best album. That record is a MASTERPIECE and they should've kept that sound. Davey sounded like Glen from Deicide a little and I LOVE it!!!
@@NickShinz But will it purdue shuffle? Hehe, just wanted to say thanks Nick for putting my AOTY out last year and this one. I've even gotten my dad into heavier (death) metal due to how awesome your style of bass playing is. Have a ;) lovely day.
@KytexEdits It handles all the ghost notes! They ain't nothing but rebound. But thanks so much man, tell your Dad thanks for checking it out °!!! Appreciate the support 👍🏼
Tech Death FOR ME if done right is fucking awesome. Most Tech Death FOR ME is boring and too try hard. Death Metal with Techy grooves splashed with Funk and distilled with Prog is a weird mixture but crafted a Badass album, that i cannot wait to blast in my car, at work, and in my earbuds 🤓 10/10 album cover 9/10 album
Man, i dont know what's happening with this channel. When this dude is on all he talks about are the bands he's managing. Sam and Martin are never to be seen. Blayne's stick has become quite stale And the rest of the crew are reviewing stuff I'm just not into. Only Daniel seems to bring the good stuff. Nothing personal guys. Maybe I just changed and gotta move on. Still giving you all the respect you deserve for putting out content consistently.
Psychedelics are not to be goofed around with. At small doses it's all fun and games, but at larger doses..... your life, all life, God and evil might introduce themselves. Be careful \M/
You can leave at any point dude lol he didn’t make this review for you, he made it for people who care to hear a nuanced fully descriptive take. It would be boring if he made a 20 second video and just said 10/10.
Honestly, I'm unimpressed by the album. There were few, if any, memorable parts, and it all sounded like the same song for 30ish minutes. No rating/10. Thankfully, the back catalog is plentiful and awesome.
I hear you. Modern tones and recording processes attribute to this. No bands have original tones anymore, the production these days is nearly too good.
The back catalog is literally the same deathcore song x10 as well, so idk what you're talking about. My point is that death metal albums being almost too consistent is normal, and not a bad thing at all
a 20 minutes blabbering video essay on a good but nothing special average modern metal album. Navel gazing criticism. "Thought provoking?" Come on, Zorg. The review is better than the music
Very in-depth, covered all angles, did the homework, puns and production on point! 10/10 Review 🤟
Thanks Nick! Glad you dug the review, and thanks for a killer album!
Job for a Cowboy really just released a possible Metal Album of the Year contender. Moon Healer is brutal 10/10
Absolutely agree, Sun Eater is an easy 9/10. Moon Healer will likely be a 9 or 10 on subsequent spins.

I completely agree. He was the piece they were missing.
Nick to Job for a Cowboy is like what Steve DiGiorgio was to Death. Feels like both bands really matured when they joined the band.
goddamn Navene really added so much to their sound. love this album so much! that Vitriol album is also one of the best extreme metal albums I've heard in a while, goddamn we are EATING GOOD!!!!
This sounds like an album Chuck would be proud of. Checking it out tonight.

My ultimate plan is to watch/ read stuff about this album for 1 week and then listen
This is a great idea, especially after listening myself. Enjoy your listening experience! 🤟🏾
it’s an amazing album, AOTY contender for sure
I finally listened, it's pretty good 7.8/10
Can't wait to hear this one. Feels like exactly what I want in music these days.
Job for a cowboy was one of the very first death metal bands I got into back in the day. This album was awesome!
15:24 is my favorite part of the whole album
This was my most anticipated album after hearing the singles from last year. I'm even more excited now after this review to dive into this album! Sounds soooo good on a compositional and production level.
It’s fantastic.
I really want a full review of Darkest Hour. Not only do they absolutely deserve it, the album is fucking phenomenal.
2024 is already COOKING. Releases from Job for a Cowboy, Borknagar, Ishahn, and Caligula's Horse have been a pure treat to enjoy so far this year.
Seriously dude, your explanation of how you felt about Sun Eater LITERALLY put into words my feelings at the time as well, and I never knew how to convey that. I 100% fucking agree with that.

Haven't watched the review yet but dude... 25 minutes?! Is it Christmas already?❤
Only 14 minutes shorter than listening to the whole album 😂
I listened to it for the second time yesterday while doing housework. This album is a fuckin banger. It will definitely be on a lot of people’s top albums of the year lists.
Epic review, as always, Brad! Love this album.

this has been my most anticipated piece of work from a band of all time, and it didnt disappoint.
Listened to this a few times since it dropped. 100% agree with your thoughts on this review 9/10.for sure

Awesome to see you doing a review again, I agree I think this album is Incredible 5/5 Awesome 🔥🤘🤘
I agree that sound they have now is very circular
I know there are other musicians out there who want to see some playthroughs! This album is insane
We're working on it!

I've only given it 1 listen as I've been occupied with other stuff, but I'm def gonna be putting this on repeat all week 😂
Moon healer is a 5/5 album for me
Did you record this video on analog tape or was it a way of saying the card was almost full? Regardless great review!
That was a great review dude!
Just received this vinyl the other day. And oh yeah. I'm so pumped for it.
it?
@@zenoslime Ah, you right
Awesome album-I love it 🤘🏿I reckon if Opeth were to do deathcore it might sound like this
I will never stop asking for Doom pt 2 Brad
hella detailed review!
I have already decided this is my album of the year
deserved the long review!
I saw the ov sulfer show a few weeks ago. It was amazing! Made friends with chase, cool dude
Man. This review is a bit of a love letter to death metal, almost. This is one of those few albums that you and Dylan will both love.
Album of the year for me absolute masterpiece
Progressive tech death is the best genre hands down they made the best choice 👌 ❤
Agreed review ! Banger tv is the most relevant thing in our days and age 🤘🤘🤘
For me... this is one of the best prog metals to come out in a long time. Lots of death and cynic influence here too.
It’s so damn good. Going to be a serious AOTY contender.
The world needs more albums from JFACB.
Tech Death FOR ME if done right is fucking awesome.

It is a waltz of madness
Killer Album from JFAC !! \m/
Was that really them with the emo hair?
I think the singer is the only member of the current lineup that is from that era.
Unexpected, AOTY contender for me
Love it already
Really good album!
virtuo-cystic
Hipster TV!

The way you describe it, sounds like I SHOULD try larger doses.
@@AnEvolvingApe I don't think anyone SHOULD do that, but of course you COULD do that.
There have been better similar sounding albums in recent history, its still defiantly in the good/great tier.
Like what? Genuinely interested?
Too bad they didn't add delay reverb or pitchshift your voice. Could make it unwatchable if not funny. 😅
10/10
Rambling got me bored , I just wanted to hear a review , not a psychological breakdown it’s music theory like bruh you talked more than reviewing
Yeah, 25 minute review is insane, might as well just go listen to the album yourself.
Yep, dude is boring AF. Give me Blayne on every review even if he hates the music.

Third
Objectively the most superior metal album of the last 5 years.
Chill
Can't say I disagree with that
