How do you not have moving toys on a machine based on a property about toys that move.
Would have certainly been nice to have them but playing it is a really good time!!!
This is really all that needs to be said. Toy Story themed modern pinball. Modern pinball has mechanical engineering, moving toys. Toy Story universe is rooted in TOYS COMING TO LIFE. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd its basically just slapped on artwork and fixed, non moving toys. I don't blame JJP because I bet for sure they wanted to do it but Disney wasn't willing to give them anything other than TS4 licensing and no major toys for major characters that could get "hurt". Its such a travesty and I solely blame Disney. Bean counters strike again.

It's strange that you guys almost seem kind of fanboy on it.. It's looks fun but neither of you really mentioned the price point.. I think that is the main problem with this title.

I actually really like the art package. Its not overcrowded like almost every new game. Reminds me of older game art and I like that. The biggest downside for me (other than the price) is the giant ass monitor in the playfield area. Totally unnecessary in the game. Its my fave JJP art package by far
@@afattori316 I think the pinball machine is pretty sexy in that it's extremely well designed and it has a lot of amazing pinball lights and sounds everywhere.
I wish this cabinet was the original Toy Story Themed, and not set to a sequel. You could have different tasks based on the original movie. Or maybe even the whole collection. When I saw the reveal I was really stoked with nostalgia but when I discovered it was the most recent sequel I lost interest. I saw another episode where you talked about having more GenX/Millennial themed cabinets (Nirvana, which is a badass idea) And Toy Story would have been a huge hit. As far as 90's music goes with Nirvana you could even do different grunge bands in the same game. Maybe you could have a revolver type feature like Guns and Roses except instead of collecting band members, each lead singer... well, you get it. Anyways great video as always 🙂

Thanks for the video but bummed you didn't get into the big tablet. That is the main thing that bugs me about this playfield. Imagine what cool physical things could have occupied that upper left area. We already have the 27" screen did we need another 10" screen eating up playfield space? I would be way more on board with this pin if not for that big iPad. Still look forward to trying it.
@Kwistenbiebel200 before you automatically lump me into that category….I own a virtual pin, and three physical tables. I love virtual pinball, the stuff Zen puts out is fantastic. I’ve got 100s of VPX tables as well. I am not against virtual pinball, but for me personally the giant playfield screen on this TS4 doesn’t make any sense and doesn’t immerse me into the world of TS4 as much as a physical mech or interactive shot would have done. For this price I would expect something more interesting than a big tablet. Just my opinion.
I love how idiotic everyone sounds when they keep chirping "tablet" and "ipad." It's just a screen. Everyone sounds like such a boomer haha "They got this *IPAD* over here takin' up too much space in the dang'em pinball machine!" The hive-mind of Pinside threads lol lol one moron said "ipad" and everyone else says it now.
I will say, Its phenomenal work that JJP shipped this game immediately and will be at most Distributors within a week of game launch.
I really hate that it isn’t from the first three movies. But I guess Disney probably forced them to do 4. That being said, I’m sure it’s fun and well made.

I have played Wonka and it's not good shooting pin and the rules are too complex to initially understand. 12k is rediculous price tag. This is a wait and play before buying.
I'm not a fan of Toy Story 4 and them making it a movie specific pin instead of an overall franchise pin was a mistake IMO, especially with Toy Story 4 already being out of the public consciousness. If this have come out at the time of the movie it would have made a LOT more sense.
The thing that really gets me though was them not having custom toys on the playfield and instead using toys you can literally buy right now off amazon for 25 bucks for the set... that's crazy considering the cost of a pinball machine.

ALL of the things you say have NOTHING to do with how much fun it is to play. I really don’t like Japanese rubber suit Godzilla as a theme but the game is awesome and I will buy one. Having Toy Story 1 movie assets and moving figurines does not make the game any better.
Yes, the art is well done, but how soon you forget the great games of the past. IMHO The Simpson's Pinball Party and Rocky & Bullwinkle are perfect for their shows and not so over done (cluttered) as many recent games. TSPP and R&B capture the fun and zaniness of the comics they are based on with not one more bit of art than was necessary.
I own a fully modded TSPP and couldn't agree more. What a great game with the deepest ruleset ever.
Played this on location and loved it. Super fun shooter, but the slings are the most ridiculously weak that i've ever encountered. At one point during my game, I counted 42 ball hits between the two before the ball went back out into the general playfield.
It looks like a fun pin but just looking a still shots of the playfield it doesn't feel like toy story. Seems like a waste of opportunity that a game called toy story doesnt really have any toys.
when the game was revealed, i showed a friend a promotional screenshot of the main screen's UI. she said it reminded her of a certain meme, where people take unrelated HUD elements from as many different video games as possible & throw them together into one screen

I understand the haters not liking the cheap toys, the lack of mechs, and the pricing. However, the fact that you two are “stoked” after playing it speaks volumes of the design and integration. What really matters is the total experience. For me, the theme, the music, the full assets, the smooth shots, and the code integration are what make me look forward to my CE. I do prefer the art package on the LE over the CE slightly, but the topper, mirrored art blades, and the shooter rod are making me sticking with the CE.
The constructive factual critics of “cheap toys, the lack of mechs and the pricing” are “haters” because??

Absolutely love the theme, artwork, playfield artwork the movie animations. Sucks being disabled and broke. My grandkids who really love pinball are going to enjoy this one if the local place gets this.
You guys need a weekly show! You can really tell you guys are great friends IRL The passion you guys have for pinball, your camaraderie, joking all out seriousness makes me actually laugh out loud. Something that I rarely do. Too bad Greg's not on the the pinball show podcast all the time as that was the best podcast episode especially since Dennis does not like the video podcasts. I actually spit out my drink when Greg said don't go to your doctor if you have bumps on your wheel.
Guys, when a you doing a Halloween review? Is there new code in July? That would be a good time 👍🏻 Want to hear an unbiased review of this after it’s taken sooooo much unjustified (and some justified) flack. It would also be good to compliment it with a Bug/Charlie interview so they can tell us what they have planned for the game in the next 6-12 months.
First, I love you guys. But can you address the other big elephant in the room? Can you truly, in all honesty, aside from the pin being a good shooter, say it’s worth $12k-$15k?
It looks like a *ton of fun* and there are two folks in my area who have ordered it, so I can play it for free haha that being said. I just don't understand why TS4. They've got the full license and should've just gone franchise-wide. Imagine if Stern's Jurassic Park was fully licensed and it was just Jurassic Park 3, the worst movie and all of these franchises have diminishing returns. I was a nine when Toy Story came out, and was already too old for 2, 3 LET ALONE, 4.
I ordered the CE but man that LE looks amazing. I do like the red ramps in the CE - reminds me of the slinky dog dash coaster.
FYI: $30 Toy Story 4 figure collection on Amazon used in a $12k and $15k pinball machine!? Look it up.
Okay, let's change this to moving toys somehow just like they are meant to be like in the movies. Game looks good and can't wait to shoot. May own one someday but for sure will change some things in it.

A little bias is ok, but I also feel that you guys legitimately loved this pin. Which is where it all boils down to. #4 or not. I had a deposit on an LE, but I got *scared* (being my first NIB pin purchase), and went with Cactus Canyon SE instead..got it setup a few nights ago, and absolutely no regrets (And I know Greg, you have one 😉). Speaking of which, which one do you prefer? CCr or TS4? *for replayability*
at the end of the day, I did save over 4K on my first new pin. Winwin.
I have a CC SEr and love it. Considering the price difference ($3k easy) I think you did well. I recently picked up a Godzilla Pro with a few mods for $6900 which was $3000 less than the premium. Are a few toys or differences worth that premium? Not sure, but not for me anyway. Enjoy your CC partner!

idk it seems lame to me, it isn't gonna be a bad pin, but from how it looks it seems like a solid ok. If I saw it on site it would probably be one of the last pins I play.

Separate comment, the sling shots look lazy. Can you send more voltage to them and liven them up via the menu system? And totally agree. Standup targets are beyond boring.
It’s a nice machine. JJP without a doubt makes the best looking pins but I can see what’s happening here. They eliminated the SE and now the “LE” is what a SE should be. With a price tag higher than previous LE’s. The TS LE is a bare bones SE. Look at Hobbit and POTC compared to this pin. Even GNR LE. They are loaded. This pin clearly is not and the most expensive pin they have ever made

I went and played one for an hour today. Initially I was disappointed with theme being 4th movie, but after shooting it... I experienced a very fun game. I think the things you say are very accurate.

Hear me out. I personally would've preferred a Toy Story SAGA pin instead of a TS4 themed pin. Look what they did with The Hobbit. All movies included. JJP really screwed up a huge opportunity IMHO. Maybe Disney said no to the idea who knows.

How do you trust a review done by the distributors of the machine? Might as well ask JJP to review their machine. As if anyone with money invested in what they're reviewing are ever going to talk bad about it. Not saying it's a bad machine but I find it hard to believe your giving a totally unbiased review.

IMO, never do a Disney license again. They aren't going to give pinball companies IP to get creative with and make mechanical art. Instead, just get creative and license non Disney IP.
Toy Story 4 is the most cinematic of the films, but 3 is easily my favorite. Getting to play with TS3 incorporated would have been really meaningful
3 is damn great too. Lotsa would have been a villain I would love to bash with a steel pinball

It was a disappointing reveal for sure, and I wasn't even looking to purchase day one. However I'm sure it's going to play like a dream, and I'll be super keen to shoot it.

Another great video guys! So glad to hear your opinion of this pin. Everybody doubted Stranger Things because it had a simple layout, and everybody hated it to begin with. Look at em now…ha! I’m sure with the SDTM seal of approval it goes without saying this will be another phenomenal pin. I’d love to buy my 4th pin from FlipNOut, but it’s not in the cards for now. Nonetheless I’m looking forward to playing it in the future. Maybe another This or That video in the future? AIQ premium or Toy Story 4 LE? How bout Stranger Things pro or Toy Story 4 LE
Hard to let go of either of those pins. I’m finally good enough at AIQ to reallllly start appreciating and enjoying it. Stranger Things would be easy to let go if I could find a premium in the future. That’s probably a tough find at a decent price from here out though. Damn Stern why did you kill Stranger Things before releasing more premiums? Season 4 is awesome!!!!

Some may still hate it, but that’s probably because they played one that’s not dialed in. There’s a reason it’s currently number 19 in the top 100 on pinside. It’s a great pin. There’s loads of requests to bring the premium back.

I have fun playing almost any pinball game, I don’t think that is up for debate. To those of us who love
pinball, we have fun playing pinball. I want to be excited when I see a game about Toy Story, I mean really excited. 12.5k excited. Come on guys, this is not up to par with EHOH, GZ, DP, IM, GNR, JP2, HWN, I could go on and on. Giving us one movie??? Look at the games I mentioned, that is the bar, TS4 falls way below. JJP obviously is headed in the wrong direction, maybe your guys channel is as well. Can’t rely on you for the truth, just a bunch of brown noses now.

Sorry we don’t agree and have a slightly different opinion. Doesn’t mean we are liars. One of our favorite pins that we talk about all the time is Star Wars. Has almost nothing in it. I like the pro that has really nothing in it. Zach likes the premium with the hyper loop. Is there not a single chance that we are like you and find fun in some games that may not have a ton of toys? We very much speak the truth. It’s just easier for you to say we don’t than to admit that we just have different opinions(Greg)
What a bizarre and toxic way to say you wish it cost less. I read your entire post with the most confused look on my face. So you like almost any pin, yet without even trying it you've made up your mind about how to fairly compare it to other pins and decided it's a loser? Upset that it's only one movie because you identify more with the first 3? I'm no zoomer either but all this hate for TS4 is honestly baffling to me. Does every theme need to speak to people born exclusively before 1990? TS4 is the highest grossing movie of the franchise, and if you care about awards won the Oscar for best animated picture, so if it has a chance to bring younger people into the hobby and help grow it is that really such a loss? Not to deny you the opportunity to express yourself, but to then take the leap to question the very direction of JJP or Zach & Greg's contribution to the pinball scene just seems irrational. I'm sure in time they'll be able to recover from your scathing critique of their credibility, and maybe even the loss of you as a viewer. I guess just the act of me responding means you "won" in some weird troll scorekeeping "u mad bro?" sort of way, but if I were taking a red pen to your comments I would cross almost everything out and suggest "I wish it were cheaper. Actually what I was implying is that SDTM has a lot to lose if they are too critical about this game. Getting invited to JJP facility means you want to get invited again, means you are biased in your opinion. No one wanted to purchase this game more then me. I have bought 15 NIB games that I bought before I played and still own all of them except Mando. I am just shocked that 2 pinball players who have played everything under the Sun have glowing reviews of TS4. I’ll stick to watching Cary Hardy, at least he gives a more unbiased review.
We love going to the factory and filming promotional material, but you really think our opinions are positive only because we wanna go back? JJP invited you guys to see and play it weeks before it was revealed. You can't possibly talk bad about it now. If you did, you'd never get invited for early scoop on the next JJP game. Toy Story 4 is like doing a Van Halen pin that only plays Sammy Hagar songs. No one cares about the sick and twisted fourth installment of what started as a wonderful children’s movie series.
You are 100% WRONG. Have you checked how many Godzilla movies are featured in the pin? If it was 5 or 10 or all 32, does that make the pinball machine any better or worse? The answer is NO. It would have been bad if Woody and Buzz were missing completely or if none of the music came from the movie but that’s not the case. That’s why I don’t like Avengers IQ: it is CLEARLY based on the Avengers infinity war and Endgame movies, but has none of the voices, music or clips from the movies. It doesn’t even have pictures of the heroes. This is unacceptable for a Marvel fan. However, as a Toy Story fan, this doesn’t bother me. Everything is there. It just happens to be not the particular movie you wanted. Big deal. Switch all of the artwork, callouts and movie clips to TS1 but keep the playfield layout and the rules. Would that make any difference in terms of fun? I think not.

I get the marketing of TS4 to the next generation. I studied some kids playing Mando at a hotel last week and they thought the game was only 1 ball... they threw $ at it time and time again and did not understand "credits" Us mid to older age people understand pin obsession and gameplay, the younger generation stares at smartphones. I understand JJP and Lawlor approach with this and Wonka, the question is if the younger / next gen is paying attention or even interested to dive in. From my observation firsthand the answer is "no" and concerning for the future. TS4 not on my list for purchase at the price point.

@@sardeeno Something original. Incorporate Toy Story and pinball. Maybe woody holding a pinball. Anything. All we got was the movie poster plastered all over the cabinet and playfield. You didn't need to hire an artist to do that and for SDTM to praise the art makes them lose any kind of credibility and makes me question the rest of the video. For them to even suggest it's the best JJP art package after GnR just came out with all original artwork, is insane and they are just pumping the newest toy for sales and early access to JJP machines.

I fell the title should've simply been Toy Story not Toyr Story 4! They couldn't l could've made Sid the bash toy. The playfield toys are on Amazon and arec the exact toys so I'll more than likely replace them with real Pixar toys. Those little miniature toys don't do anything for me.

@@Jordan__Sloan , price on these things is the other elephant in the room. They have gotten ridiculous. When I got my Wonka standard, it was closer to 7K. At that time, it was one of the most expensive machines around. I'm extremely fortunate to barely be able to afford these machines. I'm also splitting the cost of this with my dad so we can split time with it. One of the saving graces of the cost is that more than likely you will get at least your money back if you go to sell them, the same cannot be said for cars. The worst part about the price of this machine, is that it will inevitably raise prices of other machines too as manufacturers start to see what they can get away with selling them for :(
@@Jordan__Sloan Unfortuantely with the resurgance of pinball, the hobby is now a rich man's game. One thing I appreciate about this hobby is that it is a cash business. I.E., cash on the glass. Games are pretty easily traded and sold provided you don't over pay and your game is in good shape. Why put your $8000 in a savings account when you can buy a totally modded out Simpsons Pinball Party with every mod known to man when you can keep it a year and sell it for $9500 cash? This is why Joke Bidumb wants 87,000 new IRS agents so they can come after you. Seriously. And when you need a new car, you can sell your toy and get a toyota.

Considering choosing between CE and LE it’s irrelevant because the CE sold out in 3 minutes, many of them by scalpers.
Praising the LE it’s the only logical possibility, because it will be hard to sell 5000 units, a game with a lot less stuff on it and a 12k price tag.
But if STERN does it and sell maybe TS4 can do it too! 😉
