Its one thing to solo while performing with a band. Its amazing these drummers get up by themselves and play all this really melodic ,musical stuff on their own.

I was there! The whole clinic was inspiring and sensational! That was an amazing PASIC. Glad to see this again.
Notice that drums are miked only with overheads...and sound is perfect...

i have a ludwig JR kit i modded heavily (including a Dollar Tree metal dogbowl as cowbell [fits perfectly onto the head of a tom] and a Dollar Tree yellow clear plastic vase as another cowbell! People LOVE it. I attached everything to the Kick Drum so it takes me 30 seconds to set up or break down, and I practice either inside my cool VAN, or outdoors in parks, sidewalks, parking lots etc, and STRANGERS PAY ME TO PRACTICE.
Every drummer should do this!
Life is too long to spend more than 30 seconds setting up a drumkit!

Habiendo escuchado y/o visto innumerables solos de batería y en variados estilos, éste es por lejos el más "musical" de todos. En cuanto a técnica, lógicamente puede haber "mejores", sin embargo, nótese el dominio de Don Dafnis de cada instrumento, su control de baquetas, las dinámicas, rítmica y sus transiciones, etc. Y por si fuera poco, la güínda de la torta, el SONIDO que logra para todo lo anterior: a puros "overs"😱. Por eso y mucho más, para mí, Don Dafnis es 🙏"EL DISTINTO"🙏.

Fryn pan and glass botlles were often used in cuban and brazilian comparsas. Most of instruments were inicially common objects than then were set up to sound better..

I respect both of them and even find Thomas to be more creative. They have different styles though so it’s hard to judge fairly

Agree...Lang has a lot of chops and independence but his feel is really labored, and his kit always sounds bland and lifeless.

And this is like , I can play whatever! Just a few Anglo drummers play good afro Caribean rithims(Dave Weckl, Greg Bissonete, Gary Novak and Clif Almond.
Afro- Caribbean music maybe is a a more deep drumming.
I like his wave! Horacio Hernandez and Prieto are big authorities in this King of drumming!
