- Today we're riding the Hardest Trails at Empire 47 This Video is sponsored by Quebec City Mountain Biking - who brought us out to explore five impressive trail networks. One Region Five centers | Our Itinerary ➡️ www.quebecvelodemontagne.com/...
Empire 47 - or e47 is the 3rd stop on our Quebec trip (it was supposed to be the second but it was very rainy the day before). Empire 47 is looks like a small unsuspecting network, but this place packs a punch. From Beginner terrain to Big Jumps and Technical terrain they have it all.
For Lodging we stayed at the Manor Lac DeLage which was literally across the street.

Phil you are the CAPTAIN CRUNCH! Hi I'm Phil riding this trail blind like a BOSS and I'll casually provide commentary during high pucker factor moments. You ROCK!
He's not riding it blind. He is being towed by a local who obviously knows the trails well. But it's still amazing how well he does and keeps up with the guide while maintaining his composure and casually talking about it on his first runs on trails that I would never even try to ride.
As a 34 yo newbie, I’ve been riding 5 days a week on my hardtail for the last month. Learned a lot from watching you and I hit my first black diamond rock garden/trail called giddy up yesterday. I was stoked! Then riding back to the truck on the green family trail, wheel got loose and bam! Broken collarbone. So I’ll be watching your videos for the next 6 weeks and hoping I don’t loose my progression!
Ah what a bummer! Heal up, sucks that it happened when you weren't doing anything interesting!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 ugh heal fast 👍🚵🏻
That has gotta hurt. Good luck when you get back.
@@tyarnold4088 Thanks!
You've been bitten by the bug. Your progression will return soon enough and with the added bonus of hard-won wisdom!
You are a madman! Killing that first run while narrating
Amazing Phil, going that fast on a blind trail run like that. What confidence!
Wow this is beautiful 🤩 What an amazing combination of flow, tech, wood, & rock. The trail builders went all out.
10:12 😂Shredding the first lap as usual 🤘
The people who built and still building these trails are legends!
Really enjoyed this footage thank you 😎
chatting to the camera that casually on your first lap down features like that is crazy!! I can't say I recommend the free ride - re ride - pre ride strategy but you certainly pull it off 😂
Damn, I was looking for safety tips... guess I'll find another channel.. 😂👊🏼🔥🙏🏼
Sandy is the man. His riding is always a highlight whenever content creators ride out in Quebec
If you're looking for safety tips this is not the channel for you!!! Best line ever Phil
Phil "that was a good warm up" me that was scary , but a dream ride
At 09:00 , Phil’s version of Hawk Tuah 😂
OMFG lol thats too funny
Great trail name. Huck Tuah
Hawk tuah flat
Sick video man!! So impressed at everything you can do on your trail bike, so big and fast! 😬🙌
Awesome video and trails. Thanks for the work you put into them. Sandy rips and is so fluid.
I have just recently started making long form content and I was wondering if you had any tips on how your commentary makes the viewer feel connected.
I never thought watching a person ride down a trail could be so engaging. I recently started posting long form content on my channel and I was wondering if you had any tips on how your narrating makes the viewer feel connected.
I have always been in awe of your ability to just send it blind. Even though I've seen it many times, this time I thought Phil Freerides, Rerides, and then Prerides came to me just before you said it.
Phil got skillz. That was a beautiful first run on one of the coolest, best built trails I have ever seen.
Sandy is the MAN
Sandy is indeed badass
It's such a pleasure to see you riding my home bike park... will never get the skill to ride these but at least I enjoy watching you riding !
You need to change your Channel name from Skills with Phil to Thrills with Phil to really match your comment about how you ride trains lol
Awesome video. Phil you make things look so easy. I rode E47 last summer, its technical and super fun
My god this looks wicked!
I think that elbow hammer wrestling move describing the second trail was a signature Dusty Rhodes move from back in the day! Many days before the days of Phil.
My era of wrestling would have started around stone cold steve Austin, but I could not get into wrestling. Celebrity deathmatch on the other hand 👌
I think the wrestling move "Descente du coude" is simply called the "Elbow drop" in english.
You make it look a lot easier than it is. A lot of skill for sure.
This place looks awesome 👌 great vid and great riding
Crazy trail. DOUBLE Black. ?? That looked gnarly!!
Got a feeling this was a 1st time but not the last time. Nice to see the Quebec trails getting a proper exposure.
Sick video!
awww lucky boy you got to ride Sepultura before me! Great run Phil
To be fair, it was not quite finished so i didnt get the full experience. Nevertheless its gonna be a sick trail. I did feel a little dirty riding it. Im trusting the builder was indeed okay with us riding it, but i know different builders can be rather particular about people riding their stuff before it's finished which i completely understand.
@@SkillsWithPhil To the best of my knowledge test has been made since last fall on it, I think Mark Matthews even dropped some images last year, but yeah I get the little bum feel ;)
So awesome trail
Phil.. you sir are amazing
sick vid
Crazy impressive how well you ride those trails blind. Quebec looks amazing for bikes
The trails you do are really crazy and hard but I like rocks because it makes the trail hard.
lmao the trail builders left you a trap I like their style
Love the Danner collab!
10:45 you not a Remy that is! Haha I love your content man and you do provide some good skill lessons! Wink wink
Only been to Quebec once (before Covid) and it's my favorite riding on the East Coast, that and Pisgah N.C. Just wish they had senior non-ebike pricing. I can only make it up those hills twice in a day.
LOVE your videos. Keep 'em coming! Your vids are my go-to. Remi is second (shhhh.....keep that a secret).
Loved this...
Thank you!
Trails were cool in all but all I was really paying attention to is if that guys Commencal was creaking or not.
Silent yeah?? 😂
Spills with Phil! dude your riding.... 🤌🔥🍻
Hehe I appreciate it josh!
Dang that's like a 15 minute drive from home
Swear I didn't want this vid to end, was completely sucked in the duration of recording. 💪🏼
Are your next stops will be Mont Sainte-Anne and Massif de Charlevoix?
Yup. Those five locations are the ones that band together and work with the Quebec City Tourism department. There's obviously other locations in the Quebec Province, but these are the ones that quick to get to from Quebec City.
@skillswithphil ill bet the wrestling move at 7:32 is called "The Peoples Elbow"!
lift up!!! when i go i have to climb for almost 2 hours
did I see you in the creek of the richmond trail connector the other night?
you should go to boomerang farm bike park in australia
Amazing trails.
Stupid question, but how often are those trails available? Like 2-4 months a year? Just because they are in Quebec after all.
☮
The summer is shorter for sure, but they groom a lot of these in the winter too for fat biking.
Usually from mid-may to mid-october
Is it just me, or does Phil go through every Dave Grohl hair/beard era every season?
Great stuff as usual
I usually do one or two hair cuts a year. I jusy chopped it off again as it was getting too hot and gross
Insane trails, insane riding Phil. Just curious, any reason you didn't ride/bring your Force for the trails there in Quebec?
So i brought my ebike (which they asked us to) and my Sensor. We ended up only doing one ebike ride. My sensor is a better do it all bike, but it can get a little overwhelmed when things get extra chunky. I still think it was the better choice but there's definitely moments where having more travel would be nice.
Phil have you and Hailey ever been to highland? Place is sick
Have you ever rode Velo MSM or Camp fortune? Well in Quebec.
This trip was sponsored by the Quebec City mountain bike association, which wants to promote places nearby to Quebec city. I think the places you are talking about are in the province of Quebec but closer to Ottawa. I haven't been to those yet but I'm familiar with them.
I'm not sure why they called that first trail Nosferatu but I know that I would lose a lot of blood if I tried riding it.
Whats your weight and suspension setup ? Please respond
As someone who just cut off their own long hair, I completely understand.
Dude that climb fuckin sucks
I'll take your word for it, everyone that wasn't on an Ebike looked tired AF by the time they got there.
How sterile the Force has become.
How sterile the Force has become.
Oh look it's that random commenter who randomly pops into to my comment to complain about something that I have no control over, glad to see things are still sunshines and rainbows on your side.
