E16 Preparing the Greenhouse - Raised Garden Beds made of Garden Waste

I bought a tunnel greenhouse to cultivate perennials for my huge garden. I thought it would pay off in a year or two, considering how many flower beds I am planning. But let's call this first season a test run shall we? Because there is not one single flower growing in there. They have been killed one by one, by either me or my chickens.
I tried making two different beds in the greenhouse. One with only garden waste that will slowly decompose for flowers (I would add top soil around the plants when I planted them) and one with grass clippings and top soil for tomatoes. Before the flowers were killed by the chickens they grew really fast and flourished, but I never documented them before they were ripped up by the dustbathing hooligans.
Different materials used:
- Grounded branches and twigs
- Half-decomposed leaves (I filled about 8 waste bags full of leaves last autumn)
- Half-decomposed chicken coop straws (not meant for the bed with edible plats)
- Grass clippings

Oh there are many I don't share. But luckily there are more successes than failures. I will share more failures in the future, or should we call them learnings? 😉😉
