Great video John, ordered one last night, my first sports watch. I'll be looking at headphones next, I have a shaved head so want something comfortable. Any recommendations, 20-30 pound mark?👍
@Active JR - just a heads up - whilst some of these are awesome tips - just want to explain two things I learned: You can interact with notifications (aside from reading them) by quick responses but this is only possible on non IOS devices (Apple not Garmin Restriction). 2nd info: WiFi is also used to do things like update downloaded playlists from providers such as Spotify etc so you don't have to do this from your phone or computer etc.. Hope it helps!
Good information! I’m waiting for my 5plus sapphire to arrive! When you say about inputting all your data in regards to resting heart rate etc, how do I know what that is? Does the watch not monitor it and tell you?
mark galpin evening, i have a none sapphire when I did a review and not got a scratch on it. Some also say the screen protectors dull the screen, but I can’t comment. If you need some then a friend recommends these - KIMILAR Screen Protector compatible with Garmin Fenix 5, (2 Pack) Tempered Glass Screen Protector Film Cover for Garmin Fenix 5 47mm, NOT for Fenix 5 Plus / 5X / 5X Plus / 5S / 5S Plus www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XSSJPZN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NSWxDb0F45B8Z
If I use my garmin 520 and the fenix 5 plus when I am on my bike will they conflict against each other ie use the 520 for my ride and just wear the watch as a watch and no gps , power etc ? Cheers
Is there a easy way to start cycling activity on garmin fenix 5s with a) no press at all, the auto detects my movement when I start to cycle and when I stop to cycle b) with one press to start to one press to stop. like some shortcut setting Currently I can only find a way to press top right button three times, to enter app list, to select cycling and to start. When I stop, I have to press to pause (not to end) and wait for a few minutes to have the option to stop and save the activity. I just feel it's a bit too complicated.
Thanks for a video! I see you talked about headphones. My Bose Soundsport connect with the watch but don’t ever play anything from the watch for some reason. Have you heard of any problems with Bose connecting to garmin fenix 5 plus? Thanks, Sergey
Does it count your steps even if you are moving your arm only? As I drive truck, within one hour i get notifications about completing 5000 steps on my old samsung gear.
Hi there fantastic videos lookin to buy either fenix 5 x or 5 plus can't decide I only really want maps for ultra running and elevation gain for longer races are the maps the same i.e. Load the same and the same detail ? Is it worth your extra Money or is the 5x pretty much the same ? Also is battery better on 5x many tanks Nik
Hi, small difference in maps in Europe. The maps on the Plus model have a little more detail however you can install third party maps (on either device at the fraction of the price) I would say unless you are going to be using the onboard music storage, then go for a Fenix 5x or go for the Fenix 5 Plus which is a good option
You say half way, that maps are "available for the whole range now this year". Do you mean that maps like on the 5x and 5x plus, also is possible to get on the fenix 5 ?
Are there audio cues on the mapping? And if not do you know of any 3rd party apps that do? Also, how is the fenix 5 plus for golf? I’ve heard because of poor battery life in gps it doesn’t even last for the 4 hours a round usually takes?
Thinking to get one, but not sure how the map works? is it worldwide, example tokyo , japan? also is it always need to connect with phone in order to get map working? thank you

Cheers Personal reply. Do you think Wi-fi always on if auto upload toggled off but Wi-fi network still registerered to the watch. Very puzzled where the battery drain is, if it is
It was just a small tip to help with battery life. Having any module switched off will save battery life. I am not sure sure how much each one will save what, but it all will help

The tip around backlight is something I never even considered. Hopefully this will work on my 5 Plus as it’s pretty bad at the moment
It’s the simple things that can make a difference for sure

Good points, but my points are still valid about turning them off if you don’t use them

Useful info, good tips. What is it with the sound? Generally ok but in waves it becomes muffled.
I have just moved over to Premier Rush and noticed that myself. Sound has never been my strong point and working on it, thanks for the feedback
