I went from 3HR (fantastic) to the 5X PLUS ( fantasticer) I gave the 3hr to my brother in Utah. I’m in Alabama. We can challenge each other via phone app and see the work out stats and tracking on map in phone. These watches are great. I’m 62 and the heart rate tracking, sleep tracking ect is fantastic. I have a new mattress coming. Going to compare sleep quality ! You can really monitor all health aspects. Must have for us old guys who are active. My brother poked fun at me when I bought the 3HR ( to techy lol ) now he’s addicted and sends me biking challenges every weekend. He’s running my tail off !
I got the 5+ as I was worried that the 5X+ would be too big and heavy but I don't think that it would be a problem. My watch looks just like yours with the same band. I use it more for health monitoring as it monitors sleep, stress, and activity. I do run and play tennis with it to keep an eye on my heart rate.
This is now on sale for Black Friday for $299.99 at Amazon and Best Buy. I don’t usually want anything for Christmas because that’s all about the kids. But at that price I had to tell my wife to get me this watch. Looks amazing and just what I need. Thanks for great review and let me know if $300 is a good deal. Cheers
Just so you know Amazon is not a authorized seller of Garmin so there will be no warranty I know because I wanted this watch and called Garmin, I ended up getting it from REI for $599.99 with warranty!
Very informative and thanks! I'm considering buying this watch and didn't know it didn't have a speaker. Although, this would this would be my first smart watch. The 51 mm does concern me but the main reason for the interest is the O2 sensor. I have lung cancer so I need to keep an eye on that. Just hard to find that feature. Thanks again!
Thanks for your review. I wanted to know if with the music controls you have experienced that they look different from the adverts? Mine show volume, forward and back and play. Whereas the adds show 8 controls on wheel. Not sure why mine only shows 4? Also if you knew of a workaround to listen to audible audiobooks from the watch storage. Thank you if you are able to shed some light for me .

I believe the maps are for the region where you bought the watch. But Garmin sells more maps for other regions if you need. Not particularly sure as I just use North America maps
Just a tip. Clean the smudges off the screen next time u review something. Some people have borderline OCd about this. We stopped watching cuz the item being reviewed had fingerprint smudges on the screen.
You shouldn't have an issue with the plus series altimeter as they now pull data from maps as well as the sensor. The non plus fenix series had issues with the alt sensor. I also mentioned this in my video, you must have missed it.
the only thing that sucks about these watch is what happened to me. So at the airport where i require to put it on and take it off, poooooof !!! it came off without me noticing, and boom !!! 600 dollar watch down the toilet.
