Very good & detailed tutorial I must say! Ur very mature an knowledgeable for ur age. Do some other maintenance tutorials ..would love to see coolant changes/ brake fluid/greasing chassis etc. Always ride Yamaha!!
About to do the oil change on my '08 tonight. Watched every minute of it, great video material. Thanks for this! And don't forget to check/clean your air-filter, pretty important aswell!! :)
Try Mobil1 4T racing 10w40 engine oil for motorcycles/ATVs. It's outstanding & same price as yamalube & cheaper than amsoil or motul ..tho both are very good too just overpriced. Use OEM or K&N oil filters. Maxima sells pre-oiled air filters cheap. Get them. Change that air filter every 2-3 oil changes.

Yamaha #1. Can't beat these YFZ450Rs. Supremely reliable & powerful stock! I use yamalube semi-synthetic 10w40 or Maxima full synthetic 10w40 religiously. Never go over 25hrs! Doesn't matter what brand or type. Get an hr meter from Acerbis $35. Best way to track maintenance bar none. Change ur air filter as well! Maxima sells pre-oiled filters cheap as do other brands.
Glad you enjoyed it! My carb has a boyesen quick shot 2 accelerator pump. I also did jetting. 165 main, 45 pilot and third clip on needle valve Hope this helps
Thanks for the video. I just did my first oil change myself and your video greatly helped and saved me a lot of $$$. I have a question i hope you can answer. I have a 2008 YZF that i bought about a year ago. It was seldom used and looked brand new when I bought it. When I ride it I get a bit of engine knocks when it needs to down shift or lugging. I have only ever had automatic trans before so i am not sure if this is normal or is it me not shifting correctly? and can this damage the rockers or anything else? Any advise would be apricated .
Glad you enjoyed the video! As for the lugging/ knocking there’s nothing really to worry about you just need to change your riding style a little bit. This engine does not like low rpms at all like a raptor 700. Shift up later and the noises will go away. If this doesn’t solve it make sure you are using gas with high enough octane. Without this you can cause detonation which can put a hole in a piston. If you have any other questions let me know and feel free to dm me on Instagram
I have a question if my yfz is cold and i look at the oil it will be at the E but if i started it like 2 minute and look back at the oil after couple of minute its gonna be full?
Is it normal for the oil tank to be full you the cap just after the engine is shut off? It’s my first yfz. I have removed the lower line and cleaned the screen and it has no blockage. It just seems wired to me that the tank is full and only .3L in the case.
@@mr.fluffy2107 100% positive. I measured the oil out with a graduated cylinder. Per my service manual which is exactly as you have stated. If you let it sit a bit say 5-10 minutes the oil level is what I left it at. But if you go to check it while it’s running or right after you shut it off the oil tank is completely full.
@@lukemarkum interesting. First thing is you shouldn’t check while it’s running because the system is pressurized. Also you are supposed to wait a few minutes after shutting off to check level correctly.

My dad used maxima full synthetic with the oem filter and oil changed every 10 hours on his 04 when he raced and I will be doing the same
Oil used in car and truck engines usually have friction inhibitors added. You want to use an oil engineered for atv's or motorcycles.

I run a k&n air filter and clean it every few rides, new pre oiled is just as good
is it two different types of oils for motor and crank case?
Simple and great tips and explanations, great video

Got a part number on that oil filter? Is it the KN-140?
Great video 👌📹
What size K&N oil filter you running
Very nice video man, but I got a question for you off topic. What are your pros and cons on the twist throttle over the thumb throttle??
Personal preference really.
I find I have better control because I can wrap my entire hand around it versus using just forefingers with thumb throttle
Where did you get the amsoil from
Had to special order
30 hours?! My bro hasn't done his oil change in abouta year😭
Yikes😬 I’ve actually gotten hate for 30 before, most people say it’s too long

Hello where does how much oil comes in
I also have one from 2008
I don’t understand the question
@@mr.fluffy2107 sorry Mein Englisch ist scheiße
Wieviel Öl kommt in den Motor und wieviel Öl in den behälter
What’s that black cap for on the engine so I fill that up with oil?
Watch the whole video I explain it very clearly
Can someone help me how much is .3 lts thank you
Only 1 question.
Why did you make it a twist throttle?
I find I have more control over the bars when I can actually wrap my thumb around the grip vs having it on the thumb throttle all the time
How often should I change the oil I have a yfz 450r I only trail ride?
Depending on how hard you ride I would say anywhere between 15-25 hours
I change mine every 2 rides... so maybe 8-10 hours. Mainly ride the dunes so WOT at all times
My 07 yfz bogs a lot. Like if i press the gas fast it will stall or turn off. Do you know why this can be?
Is this only when you hit the gas quickly or slowly as well?
@@mr.fluffy2107 only when i hit the gas quickly. Slowly is fine.

so when i put oil in my tank and go over a little does it matter
Do you mean overflowing out of the tank or just going a bit past the full mark?
My Yamaha YFZ 450 has no oil, is that a reason why it wont start? It cranks but no start
No oil will not keep it from starting. Make sure you top it up before trying to start it again. Check for fuel, spark, compression
