I didn't want to tag everyone under the sun for this, but if you are reading this and would like to do the tag - go for it! (just make sure to credit Johanna & Allen!) ps, yep, I accidentally turned my "background blur" off on my camera in this video, so that's why all the books look clear. Maybe that's an ok thing?
Yep, among the esteemed Quilluminati, I actually finished Ordinary Grace last, and thus it is impossible that I could have betrayed anyone . . . ever. Lending out comic books is a dangerous business, especially with the Uncle Lowells (spelling?) of the world waiting to crease them. I have many a damaged comic book as evidence. Thank you for the fun video, Brian -- may you never be betrayed, even by yourself!
I had a feeling you started & finished that book after us! Whew, glad I wasn't misremembering :) Haha, Uncle Lowell. You never know what's going to show up on my channel :) Glad you enjoyed, my friend!
I'm so honored you did the tag and loved your answers! I hosted an ASOIAF reread-along the year before Bookborn read it. While I've loved watching her journey and celebrated her induction to the fandom, I'm sure many of us were a little envious of the massive spotlight she's acquired for it. Haha! By the way, you will always be the Lit-RPG OG in my BookTubeVerse! ❤
Yay! I'm glad you liked it and so appreciate you two creating it! I think the LitRPG genre is nowhere near where it'll be in a few years, so hopefully I can be a great resource to people along the way! You rock, Johanna!!
Absolutely love this tag, and your edition is just as fun as the original ;) Also, I will never get enough of your burning hatred for The Magicians 🤣 And interesting take on Mockingjay, I didn't know there were people who were so disappointed by it. I feel like the later movies were more controversial than the book series ending itself, but idk why I thought that hahah. Thanks for the fun!
Brian, for a LitRPG fan, check out Solo Leveling by Chugong (the novelization). Possibly the greatest story I've ever read start to finish and they are short, so you fly through them! Love the content, my friend!
I'm not even a comic book guy, but the way you folded that one gave me a visceral reaction 😂 Love the talk on self sabotage, for me personally the book The War of Art has been the most helpful thing for working through that, but it's a constant battle for sure!
Onr good thing about not having many friends. Not many betrayals 😂 And I totally thought overhyped for you would either be Cradle or Wandering Inn... I was leaning towards Cradle though lol
Thank you. I know there's a devoted fan base. And I'm super happy whenever people find something they love. Just right now, that one doesn't do it for me. Really appreciate your comment!
Those hardcover sun eater books tore my heart out- and it was wild when the paperbacks sold out too. Man this is a savage tag-but also very cool to hear your takes
I was around when Suneater first came out and Mike's Book Reviews was the one who made the first 4 books in hard cover hard to find. People were on Bookoutlet and finding them and I got them at a local 2nd and Charles for $6 each and no one could find them online. I hate giving Daniel Greene props when Mike was first.🎉
I would say Mike was among first ones, I think I was daniel greene and other youtubers saying about sun eater before Mike. Because sadly Mike has tendency to read popular books for clicks
@@momo_genX i don't follow Daniel anymore. I stopped when he was doing lives and only answered paid questions. Mike himself said many times he's reading what people want him to read and that's mean popular, hyped books. I'm starting to drift away from his content because just like with Daniel that 100k really gets into people's head
@@readbykyle3082 just because he read it years ago doesn't mean he caused the recent hype. You won't tell me that Mike's videos from 2021 with 4k views sold out Ruocchio books in 2024 and not Daniel's videos with 400k views in recent year. You would be more convincing if you were advocating for Petrik.
I never considered before this moment that I am the booktuber who hyped something second (or… one millionth) and got attention for it ☠️☠️ Anyway thank you for the kind words about my review :)
Daniel Greene never mentioned RPGlit until his end of the year awards show last December where his viewers voted the “Dungeon Crawler Carl” series the best. He admitted he had no idea what that was and promised to investigate. Fast forward to now and he is a reluctant fan at best. Appears he still might be slightly to high-brow for the genre. Maybe Joe Abercrombie will write one and all will go crazy for RPG fantasy!
The genre is only getting started, in terms of mainstream desire. DCC broke through, IMO, in a bigger way than Cradle. People will find the genre addictive. I give no shits about being judged by the "high-brows." I'll talk Book of the New Sun, Malazan, WoT, etc with them anytime :)
Thank you so much! I've been trying to focus on creative intros lately, so I really appreciate you noticing! I'm glad One For The Road resonated with you today!
I think I did a video about my 5 least favorite fantasy books. Take a look through the catalog and I'm sure I have an opinion :). I hated the whole thing.
right?! their collection of footage truly made this video possible. Meanwhile, I'm listening to an excellent litrpg right now and am interviewing the authors and narrator on weds live.
I guess I’m in the minority that I like Mocking jay when I read it. Not a great book but I like it better than the second. The second book I had a visceral anger to and almost DNF’d it.
Mockingjay- Absolute garbage. Totally agree- just make up your own ending in your head. Making 2 movies of the worst book in the trilogy- why?? My answer would be Something Wicked This Way Comes. For summer reading (a million years ago), I warned my sister not to even bother. I had slogged through it 2 years before and wanted to save her the aggravation. But she bought it, started it, couldn’t get through the first chapter, and then had to go find something else from the list. 😂

I was not expecting a James Gang reference. That’s a deep cut only us aging rockers get. My God, Brian.

Amazing opening! I do t think I can come up with responses to this 1. I absolutely started Ordinary Grace in the proper month
Thanks! I've been working on the openings more. Glad you like it brother!

I agree with everything, but not about the Wondering Inn! 😊😊😊
I'm actually glad you like that series! It absolutely has a fandom.
OMG my heart palpitated when you folded back that comic book cover.
