One of the most important things here to me is how heat engage simplifies learning matchups. Yes it makes it easy for new players to know what moves are good, but even for an advanced player such as myself, this mitigates the feeling that I'll have to learn 400 moves from 80 different characters before I can play the guy across from me and not just get knowledge checked constantly. That's still going to happen, but hopefully less of an issue since I know heat engages are what my opponent is going to be fishing for from neutral most of the time. Now if they just make movement good, they might get me interested in playing competitively again.
but that also means people will just spam heat engages all the time. I don't see how decreasing defensive play is going to help keep knowledge checks low. And if there's multiple different engages, you still have to guess which one the opponent uses, just that now you also get chip damage even when guessing right. I'm really not a fan of this.
@@WambwneD first of all, I'm not sure about the heat system overall. I mean they are basically v triggers and it took capcom quite a while to get those right, so idk. If I know the top 5 moves someone is going to spam in a match walking into it, how does that not ease the knowledge check burden? I mean it isn't going to make neutral free because you can mix up which ones you do but its definitely going to help learning matchups faster.

You can change control style mid combo, that's bonkers. So you can turn it on to assist you on specific combos, and then back off so you can choose from a wider set of initiators. Its brilliant, now instead of playing on assist 100% or 0%, you can wean yourself off it a few moves at a time.
There doesn’t seem to be a universal guard break. It is just something that Paul can do when heat is activated with a certain move. There might be more characters that obtain guard breaks with heat in the future.
It depends on the character honestly. And not all guard breaks, unironically, break the opponents guard(just frame massive advantage). Anna, Asuka, Paul, and Amor king fit this description. Some characters like Steve, Lidia, and king do have actual guard breaks. (Although T8 seems to be organizing character traits by genres , which is both good and bad.

Once per round makes sense. There is a lot going on with heat so having so much mechanical depth be locked away except once per match would be weird. But it is also very strong and can potentially last a long time so probably not recoverable after the rounds use.
I really like how hitting lows takes a portion of the recoverable health away. It adds another way for characters to rack up damage on turtles other than being 100% reliant on your character having chunky plus-on-hit lows. Hitting those weak chip lows will hurt a lot more now, which should rebalance the risk-reward away from launchers/counterhits being the end-all-be-all.
That doesn't change anything because risk reward is still better for those who have stronger lows. It just means they can't recover health as often... big deal
Amen to that. Not to mention there's still risk with hitting these lows. Having a lot of recoverable health on you would lead to the enemy having a higher chance to just use lows to finish you off, making them very predictable. 27:04 The guard break mechanic is already in T7, Fahkumram has this guard break effect if you charge up certain moves at the wall which guarantees a wallsplat.
As long as Tekken 8 doesn't lose too much identity I'm pretty open about the new mechanics. Tekken has been the same game ever since 5 so I understand making a huge risk.
Interesting. The assist system seems to be set in such a way that it's complex enough to encourage exploration of moves contextually, eventually nudging you towards regular arcade style.
I’m not opposed to implementing weapons to the core gameplay. It’s not a huge game-changer and weapons have been gimmicks (sans Yoshimitsu) in the past. I LOVE how Law is gonna be a Maxim hybrid too with the nunchucks!
I like the recoverable health element. I feel like tekken combos tend to deal ridiculous damage. So I actually prefer fights to last longer. Makes it more entertaining to watch and play.
Well combos aren't necessarily chip damaging you. But I think this is a great remedy for those everlasting neutral sessions where people just jab over and over and over because it's safe. Now you can't just be the patient turtle waiting it out, you have to find windows to respond.
The heat is supposed to make you more aggressive as a player because it is created to damage players faster that aren't agressive in their playing style. That means that these fights aren't going to last longer, they will become much shorter as you will be damaged whatever you choose to do on the battlefield. Blocking is now apparently also a hassle to be doing as a defensive player because your aggresive opponent is obviously now going on a race track trying to break the match speedrun world record. It's fun when a player can decide what to do during the match because everybody has their own style of playing the game with their favourite characters, but it seems that in Tekken 8, you really need to be aggressive as defensive stances are now not going to be in anyones favor and I also noticed that learning your character's move list doesn't really matter much within all these trailers, it's clearly all build upon the heat mechanic which means that most of the heat moves will be used more often, if not, only because these are the most powerfull moves to use for that specific character. So why bother trying to learn the move list? It's not that there is a golden cup ontop of your monitor or tv that will be given to you if you understand the complexity of a characters move list but you spam away those special animated techniques untill you find a player that beats your ass much, much later in the ranks. I don't think this game is directed torwards me as a player because it gives me the old Tekken Revolution vibes. And when Tekken 7 came out, I also didn't like Rage Arts, but it seems that it's becoming more and more implemented like Street Fighter has with all their gauges as the franchise moves on, and that's not really my thing.
Just watch it in their Tekken channel or Bandai Namco channel. Can't support that lefty channel masking as 'game channel' calling Tekken as Harada's "garbage game" just because he called them out about being a bunch of sjw whenever he try to release a bikini dlc.
Love how they are reminiscing tekken 4 designs Nina has her shades back Paul has his hair down I wonder if hwoarang will have his short spiky hair from tekken 4 as well.
I'm not exactly a good player but i love playing defensively in Tekken, when it works, it feels like you're a mind reader. I hope this "agressive " gameplay doesn't end up being an excuse to reward dumb button mashing.
I'm guessing this is tied into certain characters and their particular movesets. There should be multiple characters that are good a being "aggressive" in their counter-play. It appears as if the "recoverable health" mechanic plays an important role in aiding these defensive proficiencies. Implementation and balance is key. I hope they get it right.
The thing with heat is... It will benefit certain characters more than the other example like hwoarang, eddy , etc. Since these characters pretty much mashing type a character.. imagine fighting eddie where they will spam mid and lows you will keep losing health just by blocking mid and your recoverable health if you dont block lows. And i wonders what will harada to characters that are turtling types like alisa since these types tends to excels in mid range..
The slow-mo right before a counter hit might just be because Nina was obviously low to have rage art available. So it could just be the normal low hp slow-mo.
i'm confused now. they removed something they thought was complicated but added a whole bunch of stuff which as a casual player i find to be complicated. maybe it's just me.

A lot of people don’t know this because a lot of people don’t play leo however chip damage has been in tekken and you could actually kill with it. In tekken 6 and forward if you ki charge and hit a blocking opponent it still damages them and if you do get the low enough you actually get the ko. Leo having moves that put her in ki charge thrived off of pressuring opponents in ki charge state and stealing rounds
after seeing that it makes me wonder how they will approach Asuka if Jun is going to be playable again, since we had a shift in the way Jin plays across different games maybe we will get a shift for how she plays so she feels unique to Jun. Although they could surprise us and we get a different style or a slightly different one for Jun herself.

Turtlers seeing details about the Heat System: "haha, I'm in danger"
to me it feels like they combined the max mode and it mechanics with rage drive/art.
so far i am loving it!
wont be when you are killed with chip by a gun in a fighting game lol
@@blankblank1257 they literally said chip wont kill
Interesting. The assist system seems to be set in such a way that it's complex enough to encourage exploration of moves contextually, eventually nudging you towards regular arcade style.
I can't wait to be in Heat every time I'm fighting, should be very exciting
you should have a toy beside you every time you play tekken
I’m not opposed to implementing weapons to the core gameplay. It’s not a huge game-changer and weapons have been gimmicks (sans Yoshimitsu) in the past.
I LOVE how Law is gonna be a Maxim hybrid too with the nunchucks!
I like the recoverable health element. I feel like tekken combos tend to deal ridiculous damage. So I actually prefer fights to last longer. Makes it more entertaining to watch and play.
??
Well combos aren't necessarily chip damaging you. But I think this is a great remedy for those everlasting neutral sessions where people just jab over and over and over because it's safe. Now you can't just be the patient turtle waiting it out, you have to find windows to respond.
_Starts a match_
_Makes one mistake 10 seconds in_
*YOU LOSE*
I love they returned the fight pose in round 1 feature like they use in T3 and TTT
All this stuff about Heat being so much of a coincidence makes me wonder are they really gonna add Kiryu?
Glad I’m not the only one thinking this lol and considering that the creator isn’t working on yakuza anymore it’s possible now
Kazuya? More like Kazuma
Well with weapons being more involved with combat and Harada’s favor for more antagonistic characters Goro Majima seems like a good fit for T8.
Wouldn't THAT be great?
Literally just watched the IGN trailer. Finished it and was like I know MAX got a video up, and looky here.
Just watch it in their Tekken channel or Bandai Namco channel. Can't support that lefty channel masking as 'game channel' calling Tekken as Harada's "garbage game" just because he called them out about being a bunch of sjw whenever he try to release a bikini dlc.
@Kyon yeah it was hard to watch the hogwarts legacy review.
A heat system makes me want Kiryu in this game even more
or at least Majima
@@MrSkerpentine Majima fits better.
@@kalimbers1475 He doesn’t have the Sanji/Kiryu excuse of not wanting to hit women lol
Kiryu as first DLC character. COPIUM
"Kiryu doesn't hit Women"
Well damn lol, canon wins this time.
People complained when 2d characters got meters. Now, everyone gets meters. Well played Harada.
The OST is the most important thing. We need another treetop outpost and electric fountain.
Hope Tekken Tunes will return.
OST is NOT the most important, content is
The slow-mo right before a counter hit might just be because Nina was obviously low to have rage art available. So it could just be the normal low hp slow-mo.
I love the kazuya/jin art, itd be perfect for the cover art (unlike the sf6 one lol xD)
You know what I just realized? Max is one of the best content creators out there
i'm confused now. they removed something they thought was complicated but added a whole bunch of stuff which as a casual player i find to be complicated. maybe it's just me.
No one:
The Tekken 8 dev team: *RUTHLESS. AGGRESSION.*
I´m sad that there was no person in the crowd who yelled: "NINA WILLIAMS!!!" like in the Street Fighter X Tekken Gameplay reveal when Nina appeared.
Nina is garbage 🤣🤣🤣
We get up in the morning and we scream AGGRESSIVE 😆 🤣
These new game mechanics are very interesting looks like the heat system has replaced the rage drive
Harada : we used this system way back in Tekken Tag Tournament 1 & 2
Max : it's Bloodborne shit 😭😂
Max is such a fanboy for BB 😭😂
Tekken 8 looks brilliant so far!
Great Nina I'm more looking forward to seeing Kuma & Panda in tekken 8 especially Roger Jr who is the one I want to see him back the most and as a guest character I already know who I would like to see too in tekken 8
Nina isn't no surprise do to the fact that she's been in Every Tekken Game.
@@jblue88hoodgamer54 I know that
@Noel T. Lat I know Baki it's a great anime to watch Buddy and would also be a great guest character in tekken 8 I already didn't like the guest characters much in tekken 8 Noctis/Negan/Gesse Negan suits more being a guest character in mortal kombat
We need to make a contest on guessing what in the flying fuck yoshimitsu gonna be in t8
I liked Death by Degrees
So I am glad to see this Nina
A lot of people don’t know this because a lot of people don’t play leo however chip damage has been in tekken and you could actually kill with it. In tekken 6 and forward if you ki charge and hit a blocking opponent it still damages them and if you do get the low enough you actually get the ko. Leo having moves that put her in ki charge thrived off of pressuring opponents in ki charge state and stealing rounds
I thought Nina's style was all wrist locks and arm bars, but this Nina is just double barrels blazing.
after seeing that it makes me wonder how they will approach Asuka if Jun is going to be playable again, since we had a shift in the way Jin plays across different games maybe we will get a shift for how she plays so she feels unique to Jun. Although they could surprise us and we get a different style or a slightly different one for Jun herself.
Am I the only one feeling overwhelmed with all these new things being added. 😅😅 I'm excited don't get me wrong but wow....this is a lot.
Need to feel it firsthand to understand all the new mechanics, hopefully we got closed beta or somethin
I feel like parries are going to be strong against this types of aggressive gameplay but I could be wrong. Excited for my boy Steve Fox how he plays out.
All I hear is, "This will be a single-player game for the person currently pressing buttons, defense is irrelevant and even harder now."
the Heat system feels like a fusion between KOF Max Mode, SF4 Super Cancel and T7 Rage drives... this will be insane!!!
If anyone says Nina is back you've must been living underneath a Rock because she's been in every Tekken game.
I mean she's back from Tekken 7
She's back as in her true real potential of game play 😘
I can’t believe Kazyua is in this game :o
Said all the lei players before the launch of t7
Next one is probably going to be Gon, these character reveals are very predictable.
I love that Nina looks a bit like she looked in the intro of Tekken 2
Between Tekken 8 and SF6, it feels like we're really entering a new golden age of fighting games. Now we just need Netherrealm to come out with something amazing!
😂
Agreed with everything
NRS ResidentSleeper

- Tifa (FFVII)
- Sarah Bryant (VF)
- Yugo with swith mode (Blody Roar)

Can't wait if baki is truly playable
That run after the heat move will get some players severely punished.
Can’t wait to see yoshimitsu in action
Let's just hope he looks more... practical than the last entry
@@NotedMatter06 What do you mean? Easier kit, stronger, appearance?
@@Krakowitchu maybe it's the tentacle alien look of default yoshimitsu he's talking about.
@@Discotechque Personally I like it but I agree, a good old samurai style would be great. The best would be legacy costumes, even as DLC.
Something i noticed in one of the first gameplay clips is law side stepping down to realign himself, and it didnt look like a particularly big sidestep
Happy with the Nina Reveal. But I wanted Bryan !!
"Hey chat, they keep moving the interface all over, so you're just have to eat shit, ok?"
LMAO!
Imagine hwoarang in this just melting your health gauge down on block 😄
I haven't had the chance to watch anything about Tekken 8 in the past weeks but now I've seen it all so far and GOD I'm excited, loving the aggressive gameplay design philosophy.
Harada really needs to realize when he starts a trailer with "exclusively offline" a lot of people will read that as "you're not invited."
harada doesnt give a single fuck
@@kaibalogun7974 He should if he wants people to buy the next game.
@@kinginthenorth1437 lol nah. People will buy it because the vision offered interests them. You don't have to spoonfed people. This is like the 10th or 11th Tekken game including TTT and such. They know what they're doing after 27 years.
@@kaibalogun7974 For a lot of people the thing they want most to hear from Harada is that online play matters because it's been absolute dogshit and he's done nothing but gaslight the community in regard's to it.
The vision Harada has offered has been a lot of fuck the online, offline is what matters and a lot of people are getting done with that shit.
@@kinginthenorth1437 🤷🏾♂️ millions of us are still playing. Online.
Yeah, Tekken old heads are going to be very butt hurt at the concept of having to just "Hold This" when it comes to heat gauge offense. Tekken 7 to me was basically all about learning when you can turn steal, and Heat basically ensures you simply cannot steal a turn when its active. A LOT of people are gonna be pissed off at that.
Will be polarizing. Tekken needed something new, it's been the same since T5, People don't like change though and this is a big one. Expect lots of "this isn't real Tekken" talk when it comes out
Lol it's already happening 😂
most of them are just old, afraid of change

They got Nina dressed like Anna
Really liking how clean the particle FX this time around Tekken7 for me feels like over cluttered with it at times..
if there is a heat system then there is a chance for Kiryu to be in the game lol
Kiryu as a guest character... LET'S GOOOO ;D

I love this new look and also she got dual gun moves which makes way too much sense on her job choice assassin.
They announced at the NA Regional Finals that there would be another Tekken World Tour. The crowd already knew this. They just officially announced it today with a trailer.
Nina is the Sonya of Tekken
Facts
As someone who doesn't really play Tekken beyond a casual level I'm really surprised with the amount of negative comments this has been receiving. I understand that old heads like gate keep and flexing that "no casual can beat me in this game because it takes time and skill" but we've literally had this argument before. If you have good fundamentals, an easier pick up and play fighting game is only going to make you that much better than a newcomer with zero fundamentals.
Word. The auto combos all start with unsafe moves anyway. Very quickly you'll be able to tell when a player is using them, and punishing them will be easy. Ain't an issue. Scrubs just wanna cry about the fact that they have to block.
I have a freakin' feeling that Anna might be in the base roster of T8 (because of Nina's victory pose)
Because it would makes sense since these two has been rivals for years (well compared to whatever the freak shennanigan happened with Mishima bloodlines XD)
Considering Nina ruined her wedding in the previous game, hell yeah she'll be back.
If someone was DLC for Tekken 7 I'd hate to see them as dlc again! I don't really care for Nina and Anna's playstyles in Tekken but go ahead and add her to the base roster. The more the merrier
So it seems all characters will have a color streak on circular moves to enhance the visual cue🌊👀
