    That is my car! I have 156,000 miles on it and have had it since 95,000. It is a great car. Not overly fancy or overly fast, but just a solid sporty midsize. Consider window tint and blacking out the entire front grill. Sweet and so few around. Thanks guys.

    The Saab 9-5, was made to compete with the Volvo S70/V70I (mk1 P80) but lasted up until the mk2 S80 and mk3 V70.
    The Volvo vs Saab rivalry was something special, something extraordinary. I'm a Volvo guy/purist and i use to have arguments with one of friends about the rivalry.
    Even though I'm a Volvo purist, my heart sank when i heard the news of Saab closing its doors.
    We Swed's lost something that day, something important and I'm of the opinion that we should definitely prsecute all Swedish politicians involved for treason.

      The OG9-5 came out in 1998, so it was made to compete with the 850, same car but we have to be correct here :)

    • @klaspeppar5619
      @klaspeppar5619 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alexstromberg7696 well actually the first gen V70 made it in to production in 1997 (same year as the 9-5 sedan) and the S70 in late 1996, so you are half right half wrong on that point, as the Saab 9-5 most likely entered development when the 850 still was around.
      What you are completely wrong about is the 850 and S70/V70 being "technician the same car", they look extremely similar but they are not real the same underneath, the 850 was built on the "Galaxy 2" platform and the S70/V70/C70 was built on the P80 platform.
      The S70/V70 also happen to be a bit rounder then the 850.

    • @alexstromberg7696
      @alexstromberg7696 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@klaspeppar5619 the 9-5 couldn't have been made to compete with something that wasn't out yet, so the 850 was it's main competitor, then the v70. The 850 is made on the P80 platform just like the V70 and S70, the first V70 is more or less a facelifted 850. Not galaxy II or whatever that shit is. No Volvo has been made with that.
      Du borde veta detta om du är bilentusiast i Sverige.

    Saabs were great cars.👏
    Futuristic, roomy and sporty.
    I had the 9-5. Very comfortable. Very capable car. I had it up to 142 mph!! It was ice cream smooth and still accelerating with a passenger and a 100 lbs stereo amp in the trunk!! It would shift into 4th above 120! Amazing road manners. It wasn't perfect, but for the money that performance and value wasn't matched. It easily compared to much higher priced cars in the $60k+ range.
    Mine was still under factory warranty when I purchased it at a low $14k!!
    A car you could drive all day without fatigued and leave other sports sedans eating dust above 120. Saab was always ahead of the market. Case in point - Everybody has a 4 cylinder Turbo now?? "Flexfuel" Saab had that covered by Bosch.👍
    My S60Rs engine light would come on if I didn't feed her 93 octane All the time! Lol
    Saabs were just classy, without being pretentious.

      I had a 2002 SAAB 95 and fell in love with it. Brilliant fit and finish and performance. After 10 years I started getting oil leaks. I'd get one leak fixed only for another to occur. After spending big dollars I found out that the PCV was defective. The fix for an upgraded PCV was $200. GM told SAAB to put low resistance piston rings on it because It gave slightly better millage but this caused massive crankcase pressure and that's what destroyed SAABs reputation. GM knew of the problem but in typical fashion wouldn't acknowledge it. I eventually sold it and vowed never to have a car that had any connection with GM again.

    2004 and 2005 are the best years of the 9-5. The Aero versions of those two years had their own special front fascia and the older interior is so much better than the GM-ified interiors of the 2006-2009 9-5s. These cars are also best with the manual transmission. The boost comes on way stronger and the in-gear shove is a lot harder in the manual cars than in the automatic cars. I feel like they push you back into your seat more than the autos do.

      @@louisk6485 The 2006-2009 9-5 interiors just don't have the character and charm that the older 9-5 interiors have. The gauge cluster is more generic and the head unit is just a standard GM version that's found in lots of other GM products from the time. I also don't like the silver trim in the 2006-2009 interiors. I just think the dame edna interior looks worse. It's as simple as that.

    The 9-5 benefits from the fact it has a lineage going back to 1985 or so, the original 9000 that was well before the GM era. The 9-3, on the other hand, is Saab's best attempt at disguising an Opel Vectra.

    I keep seeing a 2002 9-5 here on my local craigslist for $1650 with 154k. It looks immaculate-and I keep thinking there's got to be something wrong with it. It's the turbo with a manual transmission-and after researching Saabs there seems to be a cult following and people love their cars. (Before GM ruined them.) It's tempting to buy. Is it really true Saabs are DIY mechanic friendly? I'm too poor to pay someone else to fix my vehicles so I research and do the repair myself.

    I think people ought to learn about Salvage and or reconstructed titles on cars and trucks , I have been buying and selling cars for the past 25 years like this ,there is nothing wrong with buying these types of cars , the best thing is to try to find out why the title is like this , the best deal with a title like this is the water damage car you do not have to do anything to it to fix it so if you want to save a lot of money do not be afraid to buy these cars but again try to find out why and you can get a great deal look at what this guy had done to this car and how good it came out and he done it himself so if you are not mechanically inclined buy the flood car I have been buying them on Ebay for years and I save $10000 or more and make some big bucks on selling them also when i get it retitled ,so buy your kid the newer first car this way and save some big bucks , I look at it this way too that one day it will end up in the junk yard anyhow, so ck into it like this guy has done, just a heads up , do not trust the parinoid Mechanic that tells me they know nothing .
