What about the drummer? My God he's note for note and even his drums are tuned to the same notes as the original, and he added the sound effects in the original, right down to the violin bow on the cymbal on top of a kettle drum!
The Second Impression proves that a jazz "trio" needs a fourth one on steel drums, either physical or virtual. And these four prove that Emerson, Lake, and Palmer will live forever!
Piano Bob has the original music with visual sheet music transcribed by Brent Wood. It has the bass part...check it out. P.S. I never realized Greg used a pick when playing, but the sound is spot-on! th-cam.com/video/jJb6zJpo-7k/w-d-xo.html
Only a real ass would put a thumbs down. this is KILLER SPOT ON. NOT one note missed. I been listening to this for 40 + years. Don't get better than this. CHEERS TO ALL PLAYING . Top notch musicians. You can not tell the difference between the real thing down to the bow on a cymbal
How are there so few likes on this video?!? That was absolutely brilliant!! Every musician was literally the definition of perfection in this performance! Especially Rachel, as always! Bravo to all involved!!

Brilliant guys. Rachel, you have a very special talent, not only are you a brilliant musician, but when you play Keith's music it's like wow, I can close my eyes and it could be Keith playing himself. Well done guys, I love it when you all get together and do an ELP collaboration . Excellent 👍
2nd Impression is my idea of the ELP Zenith. It’s one of their most challenging pieces to play but even harder to interpret properly. But you four did it! Most of us know the level Rachel sits at but you ALL met her at that level and as a multi-continental collaboration, just to make it that much more challenging. BRAVO!
What a fantastic collaboration! All these musicians are truly gifted! A special thanks to Rachel Flowers who keeps the music of ELP and Keith Emerson alive for all of us......Bravo!
Miraculous. My favorite score by ELP performed to damn-near perfection. I have only gratitude, and share this video with those whom I love and respect. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
This is great! And great that you had Steve play drums for this one - he is the best at playing Carl Palmer's stuff that I've seen (and I've seen 'em all). And Rachel never, ever disappoints. But I have to take my hat off the Steve - from one Palmer fan (and drummer) to another.
Tears of joy flowing - as I witness this display of magnificence. Thanks a million to all concerned, for putting all the work, time and your huge talents, into producing another masterpiece for us. I've said before, but will repeat, it's what YT was created for.
Mind. Blowing. This is so good. A near perfect, note-for-note cover of a super complex work. All of you are incredible, but Rachel has a gift, and I’m grateful she chooses to share it with us.
Someday their work will be revered and performed by competent musicians, as these, in the way Bach, Mozart and Beethoven are today. Rock and roll hall of fame be damned.
You guys have breathed life into this piece...the magic comes from providing dynamics and nuance with great fidelity to the original and yet utilizing appropriate interpretation where necessary
...What? ONLY 1,1 K "Thumbs Up" for this FANTASTIC COVER of ELP's masterpiece??? WOW, just try and find another "virtual band" IN THE WORLD able to play such a difficult trick with so much accuracy and dedication, bet your life you'll find NONE... You REALLY MADE IT, GUYS! Congratulations to you ALL, and special thanks to Rachel, once again!
Back in 1987, I was on vacation in Aruba and bought a couple of ELP tapes in a record store, I've heard a few of their songs on the radio so I thought to give them a try. So I set up shop at my hotel balcony, smoked the weed I sneaked into the island, and listened to ELP on my Walkman. There's nothing like the moment you discover an amazing band, and this was it. I'm forever grateful!
I must admit that I missed this one when it was posted. After watching and enjoying the 3rd impression, it's great that this popped up as a recommended clip. I've seen Rachel play the 2nd impression in an earlier clip and that was wonderful, but she is even sharper here. Great playing from everyone participating. Thank you!
Thank You Rachael and your band here. That was by far, the best version of Karn Evil 9, 2nd Impression that I ever watched and heard since 1977.... Great drummer & Bassist.. and percussion parts. I play this music on my drums every day, Still... I Love ELP...
Super! You are simply great. I heard this from ELP today and realized that this was the music we used to hear when 16!!! I thought that no one might be listening to this nowadays, leave alone play it. So this was a great and pleasant surprise.....
Blown away ... Always dreamed of seeing this live... Thank you... Damn... Even the at Thomas riff too... After a few listens I might join a little second maracas
I was familiar with Rachel's solo rendition of KE9#2. What a delight to have discovered this! A fantastic example of multinational musical collaboration - at least something good is arising from COVID-19.
AMAZING once again! Hey Rach! l've listened to your Zombie Woof recreation! lt was _mind blowing!_ l wonder if you would ever do any Wakeman pieces in the future like that? Anything would do! l love ''Anne of Cleaves'' off of ''Six wives...'', and l think Wakey does a great job on ''Awaken''by Yes. lt's just a suggestion. l ADORED seeing you construct that Zappa piece! You are Blessed with a GARGANTUAN talent! xD
I'm speechless! That is absolutely masterful! I've been listening to ELP for over 40 years and I couldn't tell that wasn't them! Fantastic work, everyone! Thank you!!
Yes indeed, and so have I! And now all I have to say is, "WOW, GUYS, YOU REALLY MADE IT!!!" Fantastic, incredible, mindblowing, smashing, amazing, hyper-emotional, are but a few words to express my admiration at this GREAT RENDITION of the 1974 ELP's Karn Evil 2nd Impression masterpiece...Rachel, you are The Best, but ALL OF YOU actually are THE BEST at - and for - keeping that great ELP music alive. God Bless You. Thanks a lot, you made this day (September 24th, 2020) an EXCEPTIONAL one that I will always remember! HATS OFF to all of you once again.
Amazing! Brain Salad Surgery was the first rock album I have ever heard when I was 15 This rendition is great. Not only Rachel: all the performers are very very good Thank you for sharing
This was great! Already looking forward to the international collaboration for Karn Evil 9, 3rd Impression (but probably without the silver-winged "angel").
Rachel as brilliant as always and your band is superb. I'm sure Keith and Greg (RIP) and Carl would love this as your dedication to their work and your level of performance is outstanding. I am totally awestruck!!! Best Wishes and take care.
Rachel this is awesome. I've been watching your videos since the first time your video of Tarkus on The Beast showed up on youtube. It's amazing that someone is keeping Emerson's work alive.
I was there when ELP was at their zenith and I knew then these Emerson masterpieces would never fade. But I didn't think anyone else could play them the way they need to be played. Except for now you guys. I'm thrilled to hear Rachel take on Pictures and now this piece. And it's great to see bass and drummer play ELP amazing which is a joy to hear studio quality musicians with Rachel!
The keyboards and bass in this is FLAWLESS - NOTE FOR NOTE PERFECT !!!! omg
What about the drummer? My God he's note for note and even his drums are tuned to the same notes as the original, and he added the sound effects in the original, right down to the violin bow on the cymbal on top of a kettle drum!
Keeping the flame alive Ms. Flowers, thank you.
The Second Impression proves that a jazz "trio" needs a fourth one on steel drums, either physical or virtual. And these four prove that Emerson, Lake, and Palmer will live forever!
Thinking about this amazing cover on the 50th anniversary of Brain Salad Surgery's release. Cheers!
Seeing the bass part played has helped me understand what Greg Lake was doing. Now perhaps I can actually learn to play it.
Piano Bob has the original music with visual sheet music transcribed by Brent Wood. It has the bass part...check it out. P.S. I never realized Greg used a pick when playing, but the sound is spot-on!

Thank you Rachel, it is as if you’re bringing Keith back to life, I love it when you play ELP ❤️

Only posted today. Give it time.
Bc people like listening to mumble rap instead. Crap like Drake.
Just add some cute kittens. It will go viral.
And who were the 7 that gave it a thumbs down?? They must have taken a detour from TicTok. Sad.

Fully agree, I can't believe it's not Keith playing!

Gregory Stuart Lake. England's most underrated bassist and singer
I keep coming back to this video. It's my favorite ELP song, and I'll likely never find a version of them playing it. This'll do! This is fantastic.
Amazing awesomeness! Rachel I cant wait to join up with you guys again for the vocals on the next part!
Great, Len! Your voice is amazingly spot on!
Awesome. Had to watch yoy whenever you sang. You really channeled Greg Lake!
What a fantastic collaboration! All these musicians are truly gifted! A special thanks to Rachel Flowers who keeps the music of ELP and Keith Emerson alive for all of us......Bravo!
Chris Chamberlain: Gifted? Rachel is an alien -- She is not human.
Absolutely spectacular!!! I'm back in the 1970s here... with Keith, Greg and Carl's music alive again! Thank you!
One of my favorite ELP pieces and I was smiling through the whole thing, well done all of you!!!
One of the greatest compositions ever written and played flawlessly. Rachael never ceases to amaze me with her talent.
Miraculous. My favorite score by ELP performed to damn-near perfection. I have only gratitude, and share this video with those whom I love and respect. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Yes superb drumming
So many say Peart was the best drummer, I respectfully disagree, Carl all day long.

So perfect that TH-cam tagged the original song in the description.

The production sounds better on my system than the original.
