  • A Case Canoe in Amber, Peach-seed Jigged Bone. This is probably Case most popular bone handle

Fantastic review! Its nice to see good old fashioned customer service, and a company such as CASE to stand behind there products. With all the fancy tactical folders offered nowadays, these older style blades get lost in the fold.

The canoe has several things going for it. It's just a great knife for the pocket. Unassuming yet very functional! Thanks for dropping by!

I had a canoe just like that cv steel and amber bone. I sold I to a buddy of mine who tragically lost his case trapper. I felt so sorry for him that I sold it to him for $20.

Out of Boker, Case, Great Eastern Cutlery which one do you think are the better knives? And do budget knives come close to doing the job the expensive knives do far as cutting, carving, and whittling? I would love to collect one or two really excellent quality knives that is legendary in the knife world. But I would probably stick to cheaper brands because I can collect more of them. :0)

I don't know enough about Boker to to give a fair opinion of the brand. I do know that if you're collecting Bokers, then the ones to look for will not only say Germany but Solingen Germany.
I think Case Knives are the most affordable of the USA made knives to collect but the brand has its detractors. They have had some issues with Quality Control and have changed ownership over the years. Still they are the most collected traditional pattern knife and part of their business model is to cater to collectors.
Great Eastern makes knives that are very limited in production and often fairly expensive making the knives more difficult to obtain and to collect. The also have a relatively short history of production. The company was founded in 2006. Many of the knives on the secondary market will be completely unused because, contrary to what many GEC collectors claim, it seems that if they are used or carried, it will be light used or carried. You will not see that as much Case Knives, especially older Case knives.
As for good users ... I think many of the budget knives are going to perform just as well as what you will get from a Case, Boker, or Great Eastern. And many of them will hold up just as well. This is why Rough Ryder knives and have often been called the "best bang for your buck." And let's not overlook Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. Their is a healthy market, world wide, among Swiss Army Knife Collectors. And they are also probably the most recognized, used and carry.
      Hope that helps.

@@KnifeChatswithTobias Awesome info. Thank you. You have confirmed a lot of my suspicions. I just got my 4 Rough Ryder knives today and are making videos about them now. One video I used these knives to cut the packing paper to demonstrate their sharpness. The Patriot Canoe and the Southwestern Stockman could not cut the paper....but these knives are collectibles and more for ornament. The Classic Carbon Whitler and the Copper Fisherman knives did cut the paper. If sharpened and stropped properly, I am certain all 4 knives would make practical knives. But I will not do anything to the Patriot Canoe and the Southwestern Stockman because I want them to stay factory for collectable reasons.

Love them canoes. One of these will likely be my first Case purchase in the future. Thanks for the review. Curious how those blades darkened up over time.

Since it was a manufacturer’s defect, Case should’ve reimbursed you for the shipping to them. The fact that they didn’t offer to do that says something about their philosophy towards their customers. It’s less than stellar. 🤔

I know this is old but did you get it to patina?

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias

I have not tried to get a patina on it and as I rarely carry or use this knife it will take some time.
