Kids are an inconvenience, unwanted to the new generation of parents. Plus on top of that ... instead of raising them correctly, they try to be friends with their kids ... no discipline either.

I very much like that you said "I love you" to your son, and he said it back. Between men, or fathers and sons, it is understood but it often goes unsaid. My father and I didn't vocalize "I love you" until I was about 50. Like I said, it was understood, but rarely spoken. Now it is common. It is VERY okay for men to express their emotions toward each other. That was a nice example you set right there, for both your son (obviously he's heard it before) and any young men watching your videos. Great job!
My son is with the 31st Expeditionary Marines. He's finishing adv desert infantry training at 29 Palms before shipping out to ME soon. Every day I pray that I get more days with him to do what you're doing with your son. Damn, who's chopping onions in here? You're setting an awesome example, Corporal Kelly. My favourite part is when you and your son told each other that you love each other. There needs to more of that between fathers and sons in this world.

I'm planning a weekend with my daughter, when it cools down in central Florida. About time she learns a little about being out in the field rather than hear me yammer on about it. Its a backup if your primary has a crisis, but it's functional and versatile for keeping wood and or gear nice and dry.

Yeah, my homepage is flooded with women living in campers or tiny homes. But I actively check for your posts and everyone else who educates us on the art of bushcraft and bacon.
I'm not sure if Little Dude's grown taller, but in the 5 weeks he's definitely grown more confident and it's easy to see. He was so shy in the first video...now it looks like he's ready to make videos. BTW, I love those little Mora knives! I had two already and the other day my local farm store had one on clearance for $7.25...couldn't pass it up. Great knife with a small price tag.

Have you cooked corn on the cob with it still in the husk? Just set the ear on the edge of the coals and turn every few minutes. You can put in the coals, but you'll need to watch it close. As the husk starts to burn you'll want to remove it from the coals. There are a lot of variables, but with a little experimentation, you'll figure out what works best for you.

enjoy your time with your son I could not spend much time with my daughter because of work and professional commitments, but I camped with my son on many boy scout trips and am proud of him he made eagle scout with bronze palms and is 31 yo now
That explains why I don't see a lot of your videos on my notices. Corporals Corner was always on my top view feed for my weekend nights. Your contents and instructions is the true definition of camping in action when camping comes to mind. This is how I'd like to camp with my kids someday or alone same as you do, thank you Shawn Kelly.
Cook corn on the cob WITH the husk on. It steams the corn. No foil needed. Cut the stem end off fir final prep or just peel back the schuck hold like a corn dog.

@@recall5811 cook the bacon IN foil. The pour the oil on the corn and wrap.
You know too much bacon can KILL you. Have you ever tried adding HICKORY Liquid smoke instead of the bacon? CAREFUL ONLY 1-3 drops. Many meat processors use liquid smoke to shorten smoke time and intensify the flavor.

Another great video, love the channel. You do an excellent job of providing step by step tutorials, explaining gear, and showing the best way to execute responsible survival and bushcraft techniques. However, I have noticed that many of your videos show you starting fires without clearing a safe perimeter around your fire area. Seems to be allot of the fires are setup up on/around tinder and combustibles. Perhaps this is just due to the location you are in, but it might be a good idea to point out fire safety precautions for viewers in areas with medium to high fire danger. Just a thought.....

To everyone who watches his videos...if you get the opportunity to train with him at The Pathfinder School I highly recommend it. I have had the privilege to do the basic class and trying to get myself back up to speed and rehab for my leg out of the way so I can go for the next level. Just returned from camping ourselves... since watching your videos, our 13 year old now insists on bacon as part of the basic gear 😂 he's learned to freeze it inside a Ziploc bag of water so it'll keep until we get to dinner 😉 he's learning that preparation is key to success...as is your son! Thanks very much for the terrific videos!
do you freeze the bacon with water like engulfed in a large block of ice ? confused
@@jorgeeze 😂😂 no 😂 put just about a cup of water in the Ziploc. When you freeze it, it just makes a little ice around the bacon package...but, above comments show it doesn't need to be...hmmmm...
@Jim thanks! I didn't know it could be out, raw, and not spoil.. I know it's cured, but didn't know that part. We don't carry a cooler because, well, it's one more thing to carry and we like to carry light. Thanks again for the knowledge!

You all seem to have found a good area to catch some perch fish to eat and must be so satisfied with your find. Your son did a great job of catching fish for dinner and you must have enjoyed it and complimenting him on being a true outdoorsman and getting what he needs to survive in the forest. Very liberating experience casting off the shackles of 9-5 living isnt it? I walked away from my last job March of 2014 and habe never regretted it. Bit scary at first but what isn't these days. Plus u have the skills to make it in the bush and nobody can take that from u. Best of luck my friend.
