    I just purchased a Denon DP-45F off of ebay. I just got it in the mail. And it wasn't working. But I found your video because for whatever reason. Vinylengine isn't accepting anymore registers. I was pretty sad. But I figured I would give youtube a look. And you actually made a great video. I got mine up and working. Thank you very much. Subscribed

    I came here to figure out the set up for my DP-47F, but I think I might have bigger problems.
    I bought it at a garage sale, last year, as an impulse buy. There were no records there, so I didn't want to test the automatic function. Instead, I lifted the tone arm, moved it over the turntable, and it started spinning. Seemed to be working.
    I took it home, and It sat in my closet, until recently. Now that I have more time, I decided to try it out properly. I put a record on and pressed start. The arm came up off the rest, for a second, then set back down. I, then, picked up the tone arm, and set it down on the record. It would play the groove, but would not track inward. It would just keep skipping onto the same groove. Same thing, anywhere I placed the arm on the record, and on different records.
    I am going to take it apart, soon, and see if anything obvious is wrong with it. Mechanical issues, I can probably fix. Electronic issues, not so much. I could soldier in new components, but would have no idea how to know which ones.

      Hopefully it is something that can be fixed with a maintenance service like a recap and adjusting the resistors back to Denon technical specs or resetting up the tonearm and adjusting the Q-Damping/Anti-skate/tracking force dial.

      This is a very sensitive turntable . Like a computer . Small wires , be careful . Or call Denon

    Hi, I have a Denon DP-35F. The tonearm is balanced correctly but the tonearm drops just shy of the record when started. According to the manual this can be corrected by inserting a screwdriver in the hole to the left of the rear of the tonearm and turning it BUT it doesn't say to turn clockwise or counterclockwise. I've tried both directions and it makes no difference whatsoever. I also checked with a level, and the turntable itself is level. Any suggestions?

      From what you have shared, it sounds like you have the tone arm all set up correctly which is good. You are correct in that the adjustment hole is how you'd adjust the lead-in and lead-out, sometimes you might have to go all the way to both ends of the adjustment to see a difference. If it doesn't make a difference going to both ends of the adjustment spectrum, you might have a component failing like a photo resistor or a capacitor that would throw off the voltage signal.

    Hi, I noted that you had antiskating/tracking force already on 2g when speaking on balancing the tonearm? Should it not be at 0g instead and you only turn it to required tracking after balancing of tonearm is achieved or it does not matter since you did so with power off i.e. no antiskating/tracking force is not applied as power is not applied ? Cheers.

      The latter is correct, because the power is off the tracking force and anti-skate functions are not in operation. After you balance the tonearm, then you hit the power button and from there you can adjust the AS/TF dials.

    Hello great video. Are you using a down step transformer? What kind? Thanks.

    • @p2turntables503
      @p2turntables503  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For these 100 volt models, I am using a voltage step down transformer. The most common ones that I use you can buy on Amazon. I use the VCT 100w and 200w, and if you can find one I also like the PowerBright 100w or 200w.

    Any suggestions on a dp62 Having a tough time, has a large weight but also a small marked dial on the back of the arm but the numbering doesn’t go to 2 or anything- confusing… thx

      Hi Dave! Can you elaborate a little bit so I can better understand and help? Is the confusion on how to set up the tonearm itself? How to use the dial? Etc.

    Hi can I ask you a question? I am also a owner of the denon dp 35 f, I have a problem, the lock light flashes and doing a test, I saw that it turns slightly lower than 32.4 rpm, can you tell me if there is the possibility to adjust the speed? unfortunately i don't have the instruction manual and i can't find it on the net, sorry for my english but i'm using google translator, thanks have a nice day.

    • @p2turntables503
      @p2turntables503  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The lock light flashing like that means the platter is spinning faster/slower than the 33/45 speeds. There is a way to adjust it, but you will have to remove the bottom cover to gain access to the circuit boards to adjust it. If you look on www.vinylengine.com, you can find a service manual for the 35F.
      However, based on the age of the turntable, it's is likely that an internal component (probably a capacitor) has gone or is going out of spec. I would suggest having the turntable serviced including new capacitors before making any adjustments.
      Hope this helps!

    How much overhang do you recommend for the cartridge?

    • @p2turntables503
      @p2turntables503  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On these particular Denon models, the common overhang is 38mm. However, they sometimes vary based on the model. It's best to refer to the owners manual for your specific table for the specified overhang!

      A tall cartridge will not work on some Denon models . I have the DP 52 F . Certain cartridges will not clear the edge of the LP

    If you have a minute: I have a 37F. Manual says cart weight max 9g, including screws and nuts. Isn't the cart in this video heavier? Also, I want to get a new cart, preferably MC. What would you recommend? I have MoFi Ultraphono pre, and luxman amplification. I would very much appreciate your help.

    • @p2turntables503
      @p2turntables503  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cartridge in the video may be heavier than the 9g max for a 37F, but 47F shown in the video can handle a cartridge with a max of 12g.
      Regarding a cartridge specific to your table and your table, a great upgrade option may be the DL-110 HOMC.
