Wow, my 2 daughters and I saw Taylor Swift in Cincinnati last summer. It cost us a total of 300 dollars. 6000 for any concert is insane to me. After a few days, the memory was moved on to Bruno Mars😊
Taylor Swift was in town (Miami) last weekend for 3 nights and I saw a woman on TV saying it was her 13th time seeing TS in concert and she has spent upwards of $25,000 on tickets. Insane!
It's scalpers. Taylor Swift tickers start at $120-400 depending on what seat you want. Really, this is a lesson on why Ticketmaster (which encourages scalpers to scalp as much as possible, even treating them better than actual customers to some extent) is bad
It really just is. I mean save. Invest. Etc. But it really is just money. There's no point in having it if you don't do something meaningful with it. It cones down to if the value is there and you can afford it.
$6k is ridiculous especially for nosebleed seats! The daughter saying it’s just money would make me not to it even more. It’s not her money that’s why she don’t understand it. They can do a lot together for $6k. This is the beginning of the daughters justification to everything else she wants to do that she can’t pay for! Taylor is rich already, your daughter is not!
It's disgusting that people even consider paying that amount for a ticket. NO ONE is worth that and it's even more disgusting that an artist would charge that.

I retired at 55 with $1.4 million in liquid assets and a paid-off property in Hawaii. Now at 57, I have $1.5 million and plan to sell the lot for $400,000. My monthly budget has been $9,200, but we've averaged $8,000 even with significant travel and hobbies. I had similar experiences with my retirement planner, but I decided to leave a high-stress job. Historically, markets tend to bounce back within six months to a year, so it's smart to have one to two years' worth of cash available. I'm also looking into travel health insurance to save money while spending part of the year abroad. My key advice is to retire early, stay adaptable, and prioritize financial knowledge and sound advice.
Congratulations! You’re absolutely right! I’m also aiming to retire around 55 or 56. The importance of enjoying those early retirement years when you're most energetic can't be emphasized enough. It's crucial to enter retirement with a solid financial planner, a clear understanding of your actual expenses, and ideally, no debt. Being flexible with spending during market downturns is also key. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying your retirement, and I look forward to joining you soon

In the summer of 2019 I went to two concerts, they were less than 60 bucks a ticket. And we got to be within 15 to 20 rows of the stage at both concerts. MC Hammer's House party tour and Weird Al. Half of every hip hop and rap artist from the '90s was there. Got to see Coolio perform Gangsta's Paradise and Weird Al perform Amish Paradise in the same month. Way more entertaining than anything Taylor Swift could possibly do and it didn't break the bank.
6K? No effing way! That's a reason to never listen to another Taylor Swift song ever again! She's not singing to the common person with everyday person problems. She's singing to the rich people with their 1st world problems.

Never in a million years would I spend $6000 to go see a celebrity, I wouldn’t even pay that for backstage passes. I’d get a lot more enjoyment going on a trip, like on a cruise, or going to Las Vegas, seeing a celeb for that kinda money would be so far down the list. I would think a 16 year old would rather buy a $6000 car then go see Taylor swift.

As a fellow swifty, this was my contemplation too! I am super frugal and I told myself the two people i'd want to see in concert EVER would be Taylor swift and the spice girls... if they did a reunion (don't judge) haha. However, I've seen what the concert looks like from the nosebleeds and I can't justify paying that much to only watch her on the TV screen in the arena. I told myself the the day she comes to Toronto for the eras tour (the one i would've went to) that i would either live stream the event on my big screen TV or watch it on Disney plus with the volume blasting, and singing till my neighbours call the cops. Throw yourself a little Tay Tay party at home with a bunch of people and have a better time. Best part is you can pause the show and go pee if you have to haha.
I wouldn’t pay that much for nosebleed seats. I don’t even attend concerts if I can’t sit in the first few rows because all you’re gonna do is watch the show on the screen anyway and in that case you can stay home and watch it on TH-cam later.
Invest judiciously, keep a stop loss figure. Shuffle between debt and equity wherever the ratio goes too off your target. As for the target, I recommend a Ratio like this Debt % should be equal to your age in years. If you are 20, debt is 20%, reset in equity. If the market falls or rises drastically, your debt % will change, which you should rebalance to 20% and bring back equity to 80%. Thus you would have bought low or booked profit depending on if it was a crash or a bull run.
Find stocks with market-beating yields and shares that at least keep pace with the market for a long term. Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimize financial outcomes, who can provide specialized advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximize income.
This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.
I actually subscribed for a few trading courses but it didn't help much, been getting suggestions to use a proper financial advisor, how did you go about touching base with your coach?

I’ve been to many great concerts and I’m here to say, no concert is worth 6K. Advising mom to spend like this is completely irresponsible. I always thought scalping was illegal, but not in today’s day and age. Guaranteed the tickets were not originally $6000. If people are willing to pay $6000 for a Taylor Swift concert where do we go from there? Take the 6K that you can just afford to give away and give it to someone who needs it not Taylor Swift.
1. "Judge Jade." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That. Is. Awesome!!! 2. $6K for nosebleed seats???? For that kind of money, I'd want 1st class airline seats, shake the woman's hand, take home her autographed guitar, ride to/from the concert in her limo, and stay in a penthouse hotel suite. I don't care who the celebrity is. 3. I will NEVER, for as long as I live, understand the Taylor Swift hype. 🙄
At 27, I spent $6K travelling for 1-month with my parents. Now those memories and experiences are worth it and valuable! 3 hours for a concert is NOT worth it! 😭
I was sort of on board until the reveal that the daughter is trying to talk her into it. Her words just sounded manipulative. She’s almost 16, she can get a job soon and save up for big stuff herself. Learn the value of $2,500 for terrible seats.
Different people love different things. I’ve spent over $10k seeing Taylor 5 times this year. I could have spent that money on traveling the world, going on the Ramsey cruise, or buying material goods. But those aren’t things I love. Usually when people criticize others spending a lot of it is just because they don’t enjoy the same things. Especially if the person spending the money can afford it.
I would take her on a wonderful vacation for a week, like a cruise or some where's great. That would be a wonderful memory. But if you are going to do it I would make sure that your daughter understand that you are going to be in the noise bleed section so she is not disappointed when you get there.
Taylor Swift could care less about the millions of suckers she has and she squeezes every possible dollar out of all of them with her exploitive business practices (eg selling a slightly different version of the same album a bunch of times)
Not worth it for the price. What her daughter will remember more than the experience is how much her mother spent, and this is not a good financial lesson to teach your children. Teach your children to spend money they have earned, not someone else's. It is inconsiderate of her teenager to make her mother do something she obviously is not comfortable doing. Especially when her daughter is telling her that it's just money.
Lately I go to a few concert a year and have been fortunate to be able to do so but I never spend more than $300 and that’s what I stick to . I love music , I have a nice stereo hifi system and no live music is worth thousands especially junk modern music like swift
Paying $6000 to present some artificial connection between the artist and the fan is crazy. Teach that girl not to have idols and pay for knowledge. Free knowledge is good too. This girl will not grow over the edge if she goes her whole life without seeing Taylor Swift or works for it for future concerts.
I can't believe neither one of them asked about the daughter having to do something to earn that experience. A part-time job, extra chores around the house, volunteer work in the community, etc.

For real

Not worth it for the price. What her daughter will remember more than the experience is how much her mother spent, and this is not a good financial lesson to teach your children. Teach your children to spend money they have earned, not someone else's. It is inconsiderate of her teenager to make her mother do something she obviously is not comfortable doing.
