6:54 many many years ago I'm doing a cat 4 road race. This was a fantastic Road race, one lab was 17 mi. Cat 4 was doing two laps. and we had an early start. we finish up our first lap just as the cat 3s were getting on the road, they just started and they were in no hurry to be moving quick as soon as they started. Cat for Riders come up behind them, and the Riders on the front of our group decided to go right through the middle of the cat 3s, instead of a round on the left.... Old man you should have heard the amount of yelling that was going on when that happened... And us in the back and middle just had to keep going otherwise we would have gotten dropped 😀.
Gotta love the chaos when 2 different races come together 😆 They should have got a move on! This was quite special as the Elite and Cat 1/2 category had a couple of minutes head start on us. So to catch them was amazing
@@michaelgraycycling there's a car race course nearby similar to what you were racing on in this video, and when they have ran the A&B races together, on occasion the bee race will catch the A's. We are exclusively told do not mix fields.
Yea I had two team mates in the bunch. They said there wasn’t really any kind of chase. I think the Avid team had quite a few riders so I’d have thought they may have worked together to bring us back. But didn’t sound like it.
I'm not sure hairy legs is an indication of a rider to avoid, one of my club mates only occasionally shaves his legs and I would happily sit on his wheel all day. Compare that to the same people I've seen with all the gear and no idea.
Likewise at my club plenty of riders wheels I’d sit on. It was more a bit of a joke. I think it was Roglic this year who refused to shave his legs until he won a race. And there’s plenty of riders with ripped skinsuits who’s wheels I’d sit on - including myself 😆
@@michaelgraycyclingyou know if it's not too badly damaged, you can take it to the local seamstress and she can patch it. She can just sew in a piece of Lycra, might not match real well, but I've done that.
Ah cool! I don’t know what number I was, but I was in blue reading kit with blue glasses. If you find any you can dm me on Instagram 😃 instagram.com/michaelgraycycling?igshid=MjEwN2IyYWYwYw==
Those “hairpins” are actually chicanes. A hairpin is a tight turn that is approximately 180°. This course layout doesn’t have any hairpins.
😂 mentioned this in my other comment after posting video. Got to love noticing a error after posting up a video 🤦♂️

@@lexington476 where’s that? This literally never happens here. The E/1/2s are monsters

Excellent vid, Michael
Thanks Chris hope to be back soo.
Oh this was a lot of fun, good memories! Hope to see you back in a race soon
Hope so! How are you getting on since this race?
@@michaelgraycyclingGot cat 2 license now, still recovering from a broken elbow so still a few weeks away from racing I think
@@georgewhitlock1296 brilliant work on cat 2 🙌 ah yea. My shoulder has been healing nicely. But I have a wound that doesn’t seem to want to heal 🙄
Remember that race well. All of us back in the bunch went "Wait. What? Meh" in the space of about one lap.

Mike, chapeau for picking up on the bridge rider so early that is a skill I definitely don’t have in the heat of a race 👏
I was trying to figure out how I was going to get over to it. And then he came on by!
Did you watch my previous race? Check it out here th-cam.com/video/qY0dgQvFYms/w-d-xo.html

0:18 (cough) same 🙂.
It’s the safest way. However I have a damaged skinsuit now so don’t follow me 😂

@@lexington476 ah I may actually do that. Had 2 crashes. One is a total wreck. But one probably would be possible 🙏
FYI: Any corner is automatically called a hairpin 🤣
Hey Michael. I was there taking pictures. If you let me know your number and how to recognise you I may be able to find pictures of you 😊
