You know, I think about how Homura's witch familiars are supposed to be antagonistic and cruel to their master, but at the same time I see all of this as another aspect to her world and her familiars. They deeply care and love Madoka so much that the only moment Homura and her familiars are unified and working together towards is protecting Madoka. Everything in her world trying to repeatedly kill Kyubey before finally deciding to accelerate the curse and kill herself. In the end, she wants to die, and her familiars reflect her cursing herself for her own weakness in being unable to both save Madoka and protect her.
Her familiars are a reflection of her own self-loathing which is why you can see them committing suicide and throwing tomatoes at Homura near the end of the movie. That said, they're seen emulating Homura's other emotions as well, like when they're seen twirling with fireworks when Madoka's on the boat with her.
You've got to admit, this is one of the darkest moments in the series when you contemplate just how much Homura threw away to instead suffer in Hell for eternity if it meant saving Madoka.
She was already in Hell the moment she first became a Magical Girl. She's still far better off now compared to when she first started, as she was but a slave to Hell instead of reigning over it (trying, failing and hitting the reset button for god knows how many times now would eventually break anyone).
Part of her believes that she's "saving Madoka," but imho her actions are of a spoiled child who is upset that she isn't getting her way. She doesn't want Madoka to be safe - she wants to be the one to keep Madoka safe. She doesn't want Madoka to make her own choices - she wants Madoka to do what keeps Homura happy. Fort, da. I didn't get what I want, so I will make you give me what I want. I'll twist the facts so I don't seem like such a monster. I'm doing it for you, Madoka, not for me. But she doesn't believe it herself. God is dead, and we have killed him. Who shall comfort us, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest among all that the world has yet known has bled to death under our knives. What can wash this blood off of us? What sacred games, what festivals of atonement must we invent? Must we not become gods ourselves, just to appear worthy of it?
Oh my god, 0:52 to 1:18 is just an amazing sequence. The moment Kyubey says that his goal was to confirm the existence of the Law of Cycles Homura's familiars start stomping their staffs and start cracking the glass meaning she knows that he's lying and that she's angry, and as she starts to connect the dots in her head and starts seeing Kyubey's real plan her anger starts building up and the glass cracking symbolizes that, you can even hear the anger in her voice. Once she finally figures everything out Kyubey realizes what's about to happen and he looks away. The glass shattering symbolizes Homura's breaking point and all hell breaks loose.
I think the scariest part of the scene was when Homura yelled "Damarinasai" at Kyuubey. Not just because of the tone of her voice, but because the form of the word that she used is one only used when you're in a position of authority above the subject. That is, Homura believes herself to be more powerful than the incubators, and is actively subjugating them out of what could only be described as vindictiveness. It's as if she's speaking like an angry god to them. Also, I think the most powerful part was the entire sequence of the white Homuras dancing and stumbling around like a crowd of worshipers during an apocalypse, some even hugging and trying to comfort each other before their demise from the black, falling ones. It's like the physical manifestation of the pain that raising the curse is causing. She knows she doesn't want to do this to herself, and knows it will destroy everything she used to be, but she does it anyways because the alternative is even worse. Witches are fucking horrifying.
Thanks for the explanation, otherwise I wouldn't have know about this part of "Damarinasai" tone or its meaning since I used English subtitles, not Japanese and wouldn't know anything how the voice tones went due to deafness. So that's awesome to know this now since it show how serious Homura is taking of this. Yea, don't screw around with Witches.
Personally, as a Japanese person, I wouldn't agree with your interpretation because I think that you can technically you can use the phrase ('damarinasai') in non-authoritative situations without being exaggerating or inappropriate, although I do see how the scene nuances the "angry god" vibe, now that you've mentioned it. The first time I saw it though I interpreted it more as desperation than manipulativeness. It felt similar to how an immature child would scream "shut up!" at their parents for not fulfilling their every wishes; definitely full of genuine emotion but in no way authoritative.
"Tell you what, I'll change the world so that instead of Kaname Madoka being the thing sustaining a Witchless Universe, I'll make it so that it's Incubators that are sustaining it. How about that?"
This scene is the very reason I can understand why Homura became a demon and why to this day I'm not entirely upset with her or condemn her actions. It's a shame the incubators decided to get greedy and now they're going to pay for it
You think she have a good Reason? Madoka kill nearly Kyubeys entire Race and was just busy whit taking her Soul too the other World. So Homura had a Chance too be whit Madoka for Eternity. What is also her Reason too become a Dämon, her reason too fall from Heaven?
They keep saying that but I don't think it's true. They even said themselves that they got people with emotions and those are treated as having disease so it's kinda implied that they CAN feel emotions. Most likely they are aliens who prioritize material gains and discard their emotions as inconvenience themselves. All in all I love rebellion for giving that little smug cat its just dessert.
Sunaki1000 Madoka was unhappy as a goddess, so Homura gave her a normal life while simultaneously subduing the incubators. After fighting against fate for most of her life, Homura quite literally took fate into her own hands. It's quite simple really.
If you think about it, if Homura didn't do what she did at the end, it would had been an endless conflict. As the Incubators now know that Madoka exisits, they would be doing all sorts of things to capture her so they can control her, including trapping other girls and driving them into despair. Madoka, with her omipresence, would know what is going on, and consistently have her girls fight back. Worst of all, the losers in the conflict wouldn't have been her or Kyubey: It would had been the victimized girls, especially if they end up meeting the fate Homura nearly did here.
LCinccino is right, but I think Homura still prioritized Madoka's safety over everyone else. The Incubators had already made their lives hell, and this was just the cherry on top of all the despair. She'd do anything to protect Madoka, even become her enemy.
I'm actually fully aware of that: That Homura didn't give a crap about the girls, only about Madoka. Doesn't change the fact though that the Incubators were going to keep going after Madoka, and that Homura stopped them.
LovelyCinccino Really? Homura cares about the girls, though obviously not as much as she cares for Madoka. That's why she hesitated to kill Mami, it's because she cares. She was sad when Kyoko died as well, why would she be sad if she didn't care? Homura cares for all them, though Sayaka considerably less, she just can't form any friendships with them because her position is constantly the evil one.
This scene shows the reason Kyubey is so despicable, he cannot even begin to comprehend the concept of sacrifice. All he could think about is why Homura, who's dead one way or the other, would make that choice. He couldn't grasp that she was doing it to honor Madoka and protect all the magical girls who would come after her.
@@AmaryInkawult but him being logical doesnt completely excuse him from being evil... like a devil, he does kinda know how to manipulate just to get to the end goal
@@unknownherrscher you know the point of this show is to destroy the very idea of idealism and show how fragile it is and that even when Madoka ascends to goddess status and an alternative source of energy is created that hope is still very VERY fragile and that magical girls still die when their time is up. Kyubey's species likely evolved without emotions to AVOID thoughts of idealism because of how it would impact societal and technological growth. They don't even wear pants. For all intents and purposes, his species are malevolent gods compared to ours with their achievements. The concepts of good and evil means nothing to them. Trying them as humans is pointless. Because they heard every single talking point from us before and likely from other emotional species before us with similar concepts. The whole point of Kyubey's species is Evil with a Purpose. That purpose is to sustain the universe with energy so it doesn't fall to entropy. Guess who lives in that universe with them? The fact they care enough to gather energy in the first place to stop entropy is astounding for the little sociopaths however it's likely so that they themselves don't vanish from reality. Because even a sociopath with zero emotion fears The Void! Edit: added spaces to this wall of text because even my eyes suffered
@@AmaryInkawult "evil" with a purpose, sacrificing tons life for another is still evil actually, purposely eliminating a race and blowing up their planet is a wrong thing, he even tried so hard to manipulate madoka to transform into a magical girl because they already know she'll be a huge source of energy as a witch, they might not have feelings or emotions but their doings are still evil hence "evil" with a purpose in the end the universe that they're trying to protect is only for them incubators since they're the only known species that lives inside the universe besides humans and if not they will just have to sacrifice the next living race and planet for another source of energy until only the incubator race live in the universe, in the end the only race that benefits from it is them incubators
You know what Madoka should've wished? That all incubators had this disease called feelings, all the way to the past to the future. That way their evolution would slow down and they would have MORALS.
This is one of the most beautifully artistic scenes ever. Every single illustration serves as a metaphor for Homura's state of mind. There is so much meaning under all of this sensory madness crammed into such a short amount of time.
Kyube is one of the best villains ever.. his ideals, the way he speaks, it’s just so good..This episode in particular brought darkness to a twisted twisted meaning ..Animation was amazing
4:15 It is interesting to see that the Clara Dolls in this attack, they impale and twist Kyubey's body by spinning, which reminds me a lot to the hands of a clock spinning, which makes sense since one of Homulilly's overall themes is time itself.
"This is not the joy I wished for" and the explanation of what she's doing right after very well describes what she did in the end. Even after being saved from being a Witch and meeting with Madoka, it wasn't enough. The incubators were still a threat and so Homura couldn't be satisfied with that so ultimately she decided that in order to stop the Incubators from taking control of Madoka that she would be the one to do it first using the power she learned here. The power to raise curses in herself.
The reason why Homura yelled "Damarinasai" at Kyuubey not just because she finds him annoying, but also, deep in her heart there's the tiny bit of "regrets" of what she is doing. Just like Kyuubey said, if she follows the normal routine, ignoring what could have happen in the future, she could just go with Madoka and get into the Meguca Heaven.
=NOPE,SHE UNDERSTOOD THAT KUYBEYS WANT TO IMPRISON AND KILL MADOKA AFTERWARDS ........SO,SHE CONSIDERED ABOUT QUIT NEGOTIATIONS AS SHE ACKNOWLEDGED.....
Man, I can't stand Kyubey, but there is one thing he and Homura got right. Love is the pinnacle of all human emotion and more illogical than anything else we feel. Because when humans love we love with everything we got and if what or who we love is in danger we will fight like hell to protect them. Even if it means suffering in hell forever it's worth it.
Kubey need to meet doomsday from dc if kubey kill him he will only regenerate to be able not to die from that attack beat him up doomsday you killed superman and could kill one punch man so get him!!!
This is why I can't help but LOATHE Kyubey. For all of his good intentions, he couldn't leave well enough alone and tried to bring back the witch system. He caused a great deal of suffering to dozens of innocent girls, and saying my blood boils when I see him is not an understatement. I can't decide about Lil Kyubey whether I want to cuddle or STRANGLE him. If he's innocent, the former, but if he's manipulating too...
Noah Weathers i think kyubey quoted that in his species, emotion was a mental illness. so, he thinks humans to have some kind of defect. not to mention, in the timeline where madoka becomes a witch so powerful to destroy the EARTH in 10 days, he says “oh well, that’s not our problem now. good luck”.
Still doesn’t take away from him not giving a damn about humanity once we’ve served our purpose, and trying to restart the colder witch system because the new method provided by Madoka “didn’t provide enough energy.” Greedy little shit...
Noah Weathers i’m agreeing with you. kyubey is evil as hell. it’s suspicious how he never even tells the girls about their sacrifice when they make a contract. just makes it seem like it’s a wish and witches..
@@solm.6184 Apologies if I came off as rude. I am simply very angry at that conniving little weasel, and very saddened by what happened to the girls. More than anything, I want to see a reality where Madoka, Sayaka, Kyoko, Mami, and Homura as well as all the others can be happy and safe. They deserve at least that much.
Noah Weathers no worries! i hate kyubey too. i don’t understand how people say he’s just neutral and can’t be evil. he knowingly influenced their death and misery. smh. i like how homura made him take the grief of all the girls in rebellion. i wonder what the sequel will be. devil homura and goddess madoka joining forces to kill him? i really don’t want them to be enemies considering how understanding madoka is 😭
Love how inner tension of Homura's thoughts is shown in form of cracks forming around her and agitated doll-familiars running around. She doesn't looks angered at the surface, but all those cracks shows that inside she's seething with rage. And then it all blows when she asks one blunt question.
Homura's Clara dolls are honestly fucking terrifying. Especially the fact that they seem to be on a level similar to that of an average magical girl. Imagine if they actually worked with Homura rather than existing to make fun of her.
Congratulations not only would you have Satan but Satan with an army of magical girls that each could stand a chance against Mami one of the realest of all time
The Clara Dolls are indeed stated to be a match for a Magical Girl in a fight, but no one's really bringing up the fact they're just her aces. She has COUNTLESS others of considerable strength in the forms of the tin soldiers, the rat hunters, molars, birds, and so on, that it took another Witch's (Oktavia's) familiars just to stalemate them in the big battle. It really took the combined might of all of those + 5 magical girls (two with witch powers no less), just to actually come out on top.
4:05 those two always make me emotional. like, the others are struggling to get away and these two just cling to each other...i don't fully understand what this is all about and what white homuras represent, but. it's still great
Nemezja I believe the white Homuras are: Hope, and black/red homuras are: Despair. The black/red homura falling on the white homuras mean the despair winning and killing hope
Agree with Natan; I also used to see the whites as her still human/magical girl side representing purity, while blood red Homura's are her witch form representing evil, slowly destroying the purity in her. The two whites clinging to each other prolly represents a part of Homura's desperation to stay as human, but seeing she has no other choice in protecting Madoka the evil has to take over in her
The white homuras coming out of the dark ooze are the salvation that can come to homura if she lets Madoka save her from becoming a witch, and the dark horuras crushing them is homura's resolve to destroy that salvation herself in order to keep madoka away from the incubators
Kyubey is highly intelligent because he doesn't feel emotions and can analyze everything without being biased but at the same time that's his biggest flaw. He couldn't conceive how Homura could throw herself to hell just to save Madoka because "LOVE" was never in his vocabulary. This movie is a masterpiece, we need the sequel right now.
I'm sorry but nothing represents lashing out in confused anger better than the rhythmic march of Homulilly's soldiers to the tune of probably my favorite song from the soundtrack. The Clara Dolls are so underrated tbh
I love this scene soo much because we get a much clearer debate, the emotional side, and the logical side. It has been hinted around the end of the movie, and even the opening, that the earth, and universe was slowly dying. The incubators main objective was to prevent or stunt the destruction of the universe, and the only way to have combated this was to have magical girls turn into witches. However, due to Madoka’s wish, the means to collect that energy is gone. The incubators are now struggling to find a way to collect the energy more efficiently. And here’s why I think it’s a debate, Homura represents the emotional side, Kyuubey the illogical side. Both are right in their own way. Homura wants to save Madoka, the magical system is fucked, using little girls’ lives like cattle. And yet, I dare say, Kyuubey is also right in their own way too, for they just want to save the universe, so any sacrifice is necessary, even the death of a few innocent lives, or heck even an entire world. The problem, they are both right and wrong at the same time. It makes sense, trying to save your friend’s (cough cough lover’s) life from a terrible fate, but by doing so, is preventing the universe from being saved. The incubators only want the universe to live, which does include, well everything, however by not feeling that what they are doing is wrong, is what makes this so fricken wrong. I really do like Kyuubey, because they are such a well written antagonist. Having a character that thinks logically, and erradicates all emotion
It wasn't that witches singularly produced magic, if that were so they wouldn't make it so that the witches they raised so carefully would get killed. It was just that being a magical girl and then turning into a witch produced twice the energy (hence why magical girls were still being created even when they couldn't turn into witches anymore). With Madokas' interference though, the energy was brought back to it's reduced form. The incubator weren't satisfied with that. They wanted more, a way to collect the energy even from the "remains" of the magical girls. For seemingly emotionless creatures they sure were greedy.
I watched the movie and I'm still furiously ruminating on this scene. I'm very impressed by Homura being able to keep her cool, just long enough to interrogate Kyuubey before beating him to a pulp (too bad he went unscathed from that). The way he smugly explained his plans to trap Madokami and bring back the witch system has me vibrating in anger. I really, really wanna punch that lil bastard in the face so bad. Then, I remember posts agreeing and explaining how Kyuubey did nothing wrong and that the girls are at fault for agreeing to contracts with him in the first place? Well, guess what? HE'S A GOƉƉAMN LOAN SHARK, OF COURSE HE'LL GO AFTER NAIVE AND DESPERATE TARGETS, WHY ARE YOU BLAMING THE GIRLS WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE GETTING INTO? The girls got the short end of the stick, basically being robbed of a future, of second chances and of being able to make mistakes and learn from them without turning into a ticking time bomb as a consequence. FUȻK YOU KYUUBEY, NOW IT'S YOUR TURN TO FEEL DESPAIR AND BE THE BATTERY TO FIX YOUR GOƉƉAMN ENERGY CRISIS
@elliotville7820 I totally agree with you. This reason here is the final nail in the coffin that Kyubey is the most hated character in Madoka Magica Franchise.
The only reason Kyubey knew about the former witch system is because Homura told him about it at the end of episode 12. Does that mean Homura caused the events of Rebellion?
Sei Kyo They used Homura as a test subject, yes, but the reason they thought there was a huge untapped energy potential in corrupted soul gems is because Homura told them about the way the witch system worked.
Well Homura told him because she remembered everything from the past. Which is because (if I remember correctly) Madoka wanted someone to remember her. So technically....it's Madoka's fault.
Whether Homura told him or not that was the incubator's mess up. They tried to use Madoka after everything the girls went through even after gaining a proper balance in the cycle of magical girls and witches and they still wanted to fuck things up. Correct me if I am wrong
I think Homura counted on Kyubey actually being what it claimed to be, logical, instead of what it truly was-- greedy. If it truly only cared for fighting entropy with the energy Magical Girls produced, it could have left it all alone. There was no reason to do what it did. And perhaps Homura thought Madoka would be enough of a deterrent. I mean... to any logical being, she should have been. Madoka is a literal goddess. It's crazy to play with powers you don't understand. But Kyubey just had to mess with everything, and in the end, the little shit tipped his hand, revealing it'd never stop as long as there was a way to get more energy. So when Homura herself became as a goddess, she did what she had to in response, and destroyed Kyubey's whole hive mind race with the very emotions it couldn't understand. It's almost Darwinian and every bit richly deserved.
Looking back at this scene I honestly love the implications of the Homura rain scene. The Homura's falling from the sky are killing the Homura's in the sea. Which is literally her killing herself, which shes does for Madoka.
Even when surrounded by incubators, in an isolated world, with nearly no chance of victory, Akemi Homura will never allow the incubators to use Madoka Kaname. The incubators failed and underestimated the lengths not a magical girl, not a human, but Akemi Homura would go to ensure they would not win.
I wanted to see that little incubator suffer and I wasn’t disappointed. Homura making the sacrifice to kill kyubey forever is a pretty noble act for a witch
i’m pretty sure the reason why you see so many curses in the form of homura is because of the time loop . they represent how many times she has gone back and tried to hard to save madoka from her fate . really sad to see
I really really love the art expression in this anime so much. Like it's give the feeling n emotion p.s. sry if don't understand what I said my english is bad
For those who say madoka already kill ton of kyubey so what homura did in the end is unnecessary should go to watch the movie again, when homura ascended, they are visually a lot more of his kind.
What's messed up is that the incubators fucked themselves over. Granted they didn't get as much energy as they wanted but over time they got to keep the world from being destroyed and their relationship with the magical girls were on better terms but they were consumed by ironically an emotion namely greed and pride.
It's like how her being a witch wasn't realized until now when she's been one for years, silently festering and growing more apparent over time. Its the kind of emotions that sneak up on you and one day it just kind of hits you how depressed you are, how greedy you've become. You wonder when it got so bad.
When I came out of the movie theater, I was fuming for what Homura did. I now realized the reason I was mad was because I'd do the same thing for a person who I loved the most.
Now that I think about it, Kyuubey's strategy is a lot like the representation of "lab animals". It reminds me of how us humans put lab rats in a cage. But instead of experimenting with them, you do it to humans. And instead of looking for a disease cure, it's saving the universe. Everything's on a larger scale. The Revenge of Planet Animals??
The key difference is while rats can feel and it's still messed up- humans can think rationally and they remember things much better than most other animals on planet earth. Similarly Kyubey uses young humans, which is even more fucked up than just using humans.
Well actually, Kyubey has the most heroic goal in all of anime. The girls wishes are the most selfish ones compared to Kyubey's. He's not evil. The girls only care about their own desires while Kyubey wants to make sure the universe is saved.
Agreed. In the end, selfish desire is the true villain of Madoka Magica. (Huh; suddenly, the fact that Homucifer called herself the concept of evil at the end of the movie makes perfect sense...)
Your right, what could be more heroic than trying to take control of a goddess that sacrificed her own happiness to end the suffering of many others. That selfish bitch was asking for it.
What Kyubey did is technically the same as what humans did for the sake of science. There has been so many cruel experiments, inhumane conducts, destroying habitats, unnecessary murder due to gluttony & greed, neglecting feelings or consequences of other life forms, never leaving nature alone...all to "improve the society". & did they ever felt bad for doing so? Their typical reply "honestly, why can some people's thoughts be so incomprehensibly illogical?"
Well said. Kyuubey is what you'd get if you were to combine in equal parts Hello Kitty, Mr. Spock, and Adolf Eichmann. A cute and cuddly animal mascot who operates entirely on logic and has no regard whatsoever for human life.

If Homura beating you six ways from Sunday won't get that through your long-eared skull, I don't know what will.

I'll chase you round the moons of Nibia and round the Antares Maelstrom and round Perdition's FLAMES before I give you up."
And this scene is finally clear to me This is the moment she corrupts herself (flood of dark blood) with pure love for Madoka (bloody moon), and destorys her own moral and humane levels (represented by the frolicking white Homura silhouettes being destoryed by bitter dark versions) to make sure Kyubey doesn't succeed and make herself un-useable (becoming a witch stuck in a repeating funeral march) ... So Logic Ensues... ...that saving her, NONE OF THE CURSE INFLICTED FROM THIS SCENE IS UNDONE, so Homura sadly destoryed her own senses with the intention to die to prevent her insanity... which is triggered from her finally seeing Madoka once again. ...but the restoration of her core to her body causes her to carry the consequences to their fullest extent. It really was Kyubey's fault that Homulucifer can to be.
You know, I think about how Homura's witch familiars are supposed to be antagonistic and cruel to their master, but at the same time I see all of this as another aspect to her world and her familiars. Lying? I never lie
@@Ibullymagicalgirls Sure you don't...

Actually, Incubators are incapable of lying.

@@SerenEirian that's what we call a lie by omission. You can also lie by structure.
Witches are fucking horrifying.
so you're saying that when Homura yells "damarinasai" it's less like "Just shut up!" and more like she's yelling "Silence!"
Yea, don't screw around with Witches.
wow i never noticed this... now this scene looks a lot more scary

@@Gooberwares You can't do anything to kyuubey (the main), they will disconnect from the virus body and go on like nothing has happen.
This scene is the very reason I can understand why Homura became a demon and why to this day I'm not entirely upset with her or condemn her actions. It's a shame the incubators decided to get greedy and now they're going to pay for it
ShadowWriter45 It was inevitable that they would get greedy since they can't feel compassion, remorse, guilt, or any emotions in general.
Kyubey definitely deserved it.
And yet most people misunderstood Homura.
LovelyCinccino Ikr, very few people seem to actually get the ending.

@@AmaryInkawult "evil" with a purpose, sacrificing tons life for another is still evil actually, purposely eliminating a race and blowing up their planet is a wrong thing, he even tried so hard to manipulate madoka to transform into a magical girl because they already know she'll be a huge source of energy as a witch, they might not have feelings or emotions but their doings are still evil hence "evil" with a purpose
in the end the universe that they're trying to protect is only for them incubators since they're the only known species that lives inside the universe besides humans and if not they will just have to sacrifice the next living race and planet for another source of energy until only the incubator race live in the universe, in the end the only race that benefits from it is them incubators
You know what Madoka should've wished?
That all incubators had this disease called feelings, all the way to the past to the future.
That way their evolution would slow down and they would have MORALS.

Noah Weathers i think kyubey quoted that in his species, emotion was a mental illness. so, he thinks humans to have some kind of defect. not to mention, in the timeline where madoka becomes a witch so powerful to destroy the EARTH in 10 days, he says “oh well, that’s not our problem now. good luck”.
Still doesn’t take away from him not giving a damn about humanity once we’ve served our purpose, and trying to restart the colder witch system because the new method provided by Madoka “didn’t provide enough energy.”
Greedy little shit...
Noah Weathers i’m agreeing with you. kyubey is evil as hell. it’s suspicious how he never even tells the girls about their sacrifice when they make a contract. just makes it seem like it’s a wish and witches..

Love how inner tension of Homura's thoughts is shown in form of cracks forming around her and agitated doll-familiars running around. She doesn't looks angered at the surface, but all those cracks shows that inside she's seething with rage. And then it all blows when she asks one blunt question.

The two whites clinging to each other prolly represents a part of Homura's desperation to stay as human, but seeing she has no other choice in protecting Madoka the evil has to take over in her
Imagine emotions. Cant relate
The white homuras coming out of the dark ooze are the salvation that can come to homura if she lets Madoka save her from becoming a witch, and the dark horuras crushing them is homura's resolve to destroy that salvation herself in order to keep madoka away from the incubators

Also the Clara Dolls are absolutely adorifying.
Having a character that thinks logically, and erradicates all emotion
yes.
Thank god homura did what she did to make the guy eat dirt
どんどんイライラが募ってくように槍みたいなのをガシャガシャやるのも好き
It's almost Darwinian and every bit richly deserved.
yes
this movie has some of the best art direction I've seen in animation
Looking back at this scene I honestly love the implications of the Homura rain scene. The Homura's falling from the sky are killing the Homura's in the sea. Which is literally her killing herself, which shes does for Madoka.

What's messed up is that the incubators fucked themselves over. It's like how her being a witch wasn't realized until now when she's been one for years, silently festering and growing more apparent over time. Its the kind of emotions that sneak up on you and one day it just kind of hits you how depressed you are, how greedy you've become. You wonder when it got so bad.

Damn I always forget how great a character Kyubey is.
Can we all agree that incubator is evil now?
What the... Kyubey is not evil but the girls are?! What the fuck is this.
she thought madoka deserved to be happy so she sacrificed everything to give her that chance

手下達「ソーラン!ソーラン!」
Humans often feel resentment towards the other party just because they misunderstood a decision they made.
@@Ibullymagicalgirls Speak of the devil. Listen, you little weasel: I think when you try putting yourself in the shoes of someone who doesn't live their lives constantly having to make morally ambiguous decisions in order to keep the universe alive, you'll understand the way we humans think.
@@redlion517 But If they just let it happen billions of other humans could've been saved. Instead only thinking of themselves they tried to break the cycle.
@@Ibullymagicalgirls See, now you're playing the Spock card: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one." Well, let me respond by playing the McCoy card and saying: "You're out of your Incubator mind." We humans don't operate on logic alone, but on empathy for others and the need to survive. If Homura beating you six ways from Sunday won't get that through your long-eared skull, I don't know what will.
if we were to find something comparable to kyubey, then kyubey is like those manipulative salesman like devils, which gives you the pros but will only give you the cons when you ask for it
Kyuubey: "You really don't need to be putting you entire existence in jeopardy just to kill little ol' me. Why bother?"
Homura: "You task me. You task me, and I shall have you. I'll chase you round the moons of Nibia and round the Antares Maelstrom and round Perdition's FLAMES before I give you up."
Impressive. Where's that from?
@@andrewbrigmond8784 It's based on a quote from "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan", which in turn is based on a quote from "Moby Dick".
“You see, I became a magical girl solely to save Madoka.”
“Even though you could have just wished her back the first time she died?”
“…dang it.”
Wishes require a certain level of fate as a price. Bringing someone back from the dead is pretty difficult.
Decidueye Zealot It was a joke.

And this scene is finally clear to me
This is the moment she corrupts herself (flood of dark blood) with pure love for Madoka (bloody moon), and destorys her own moral and humane levels (represented by the frolicking white Homura silhouettes being destoryed by bitter dark versions) to make sure Kyubey doesn't succeed and make herself un-useable (becoming a witch stuck in a repeating funeral march) ...
