How are the welds holding up?? I'm curious as most things you hear say fusion welding (welding without filler) aluminium is quite prone to cracking (depending on the type of alloys used). Has it stood the test of time ok? I'm hoping yes, and if so, do you know the types of alloys used etc? 6061? 5005? 5083? (might be on the receipt for the supplies?)
Hey mate - so far so good, however I haven't fished nearly as much as I'd like and its probably worth considering that Dora isn't the fastest boat so the sloshing and pressures on the weld are unlikely to be incredibly high. I'm also not sure if the sikaflex fillets have helped as well. I won't be able to find the receipt easily, but I know it was 5000 series Ally. From what I can tell from the suppliers website, it was likely 5005 H34 but I can't say with absolutely certainty, if not 5005 it was 5083
No need for filler wire in you’re tacks. Just wind you’re welder up to max and tack at that. I tack with my tig at 200amp short blast you’ll get the hang off it
@@GriftCo sweet mate yeah I was thinking the same. I am thinking of getting a ryobi mini router and doing up the designs myself. Ill let you know how I go.
I’m an ex boilermaker by trade, with longer ally welds try stitch welding as this spreads out the heat and helps stop the ally warping.
Mate the quality of your work and videos deserves millions of subs.well done!!!
Thanks mate - maybe one day!

Also you where out by 6mm cause you didn’t allow for material thickness
@@projecthiluxpigrig2.095 I think you're right!
Hey mate what blade did you end up running on the circular saw?
What TIG welder were you using for this ?
to be continued...god damn you! haha
What brand of welder did you buy mate ?
Hey Kelly, I bought the Lincoln POWERCRAFT TIG 201 AC/DC
What are you thinking of running for the floor covering??? Just working on mine atm.
Andrew Aberdeen plan is to go with EVA foam deck, just a lot of things in a state of flux at the moment so it’s a bit hard to pull the trigger!
