I was thinking back to the SNES game, which does show all 3 characters bound with chains, and since it's been forever since I played the arcade game as anyone but Haggar, I didn't remember their game over screens showing ropes. Final Fight 3's continue screen was actually an homage to the arcade adaptation of Ninja Gaiden. and FF3's continue theme even pays homage to NG with the last few notes sounding similar to NG's game over theme
So while Final Fight 1 is the classic Game Over we all remember, I actually think my "favorite" in the sense of "Which one would I least want to go through?" is 2's. The dynamite and descending spikes are messy and brutal, but would at least be over pretty quickly. Drowning, on the other hand, is kind of a horrifying death that goes on for awhile (Leaving aside the continue screen's stopping at about chest height). As for the Haggars, Final Fight 1 Haggar is probably the only character in the entire series whom I'd argue is actually trying to, you know, escape his death trap.
All of these situations are horrible in real life, but I guess I'd rather get blown up by dynamite and get squashed by spikes than to drown slowly in a watery pit.
@@xxxGreyFoxNinja11xxx The continue screen in the first game shows me the Mad Gear Gang were actually quite reasonable in the first game, the way how in the intro, Thrasher still offered to give Haggar the salary bonus the gang had originally offered him, even after kidnapping Jessica, when Haggar was no longer in the position to bargain for a salary bonus, and then there was the continue screen with the nice, quick execution in the form of a dynamite explosion to the face, even after Guy, Cody and Haggar had savagely beaten many Mad Gear Gang members!!!!!! I mean, the fact that the Mad Gear Gang chose not to torture the protagonists, and were generous with money makes them almost respectable, in my book!!!!!
I don't quite get why are people so afraid of drowning. Yes, it is scary and a terrible way of going out, but after a few seconds of agony and water entering your lungs, you lose consciousness completely, and not feel a thing. Comparing that to getting slowly impaled by spikes, which can keep you still alive minutes after having impaled you (unless the spikes are immediately removed, causing major bleeding, otherwise the spikes themselves would work as a cover for the bleedings), I'd take the drowning way out. And getting blown up by that amount of dynamite you even have a chance to not dying at all, only to lose half of your members and face on the explosion while your body is probably on fire, so someone would have to come and give you the mercy blow in case you don't die instantly.
I just realized...... One of them is TRYING to escape and prevent their death, while the rest of them are accepting their fate. Wtf? If I was in one of the situations, I would try to escape. Even if it was impossible to escape, I would still try.

Any chance of a video that compares what happens when you insert another quarter? I know that, in Final Fight 1, a dagger mysteriously falls from the ceiling, the hero(es) give a trademarkable happy emoji face, and you're back in the game. But, what happens in Final Fight 2 and 3 when you continue?

Even back when they were new I could never get into 2 and 3 they just seemed to try to hard to be "cool" or "edgy" ..part one just had a real solid look and style to it that was never matched.
I wouldn't say "edgy" but I'd say more "dramatic", because the first game had a light tone with the colorful scenarios and up beat songs, but 3 had a more "dramatic" tone about the music and overall feel
They do actually. 25 cents entered in and you could break free and conttinue. Now Mad Gear sees this guy coming at them a second time, plowing through their men. They captured the hero again and what do they do? Surely not the whole dynamite thing again...yup...they did the dynamite thing again. And again. And again. Mad Gear...take a gun point it at their head, and no quarter can bring them back.
i swear...there was like a gameover screen when the character was chained down to a sewer cap, and for some reason he had a strange character design with no arms or even legs, and thats about it AM I CRAZY???
