I think this role deserved the Oscar she was nominated for. I'll miss her, but glad there are so many performances we can see that she did so well in. RIP
TerI Garr was nothing short of brilliant in this movie. Her acting, timing, and high animation is just amazing. Plus, the acting chemistry between her and Hoffman is wonderful
Terrific actress. In "Tootsie" she delivered one of the best histrionic performances I've ever seen. Mrs. Garr, May God bless you and light your way. I wish you peace, love and light on your journey of progress and evolution. ✨🙏🏻✨
I think everyone who's done theatre in college or been involved in the arts knows someone exactly like Sandy back in college lol. Man, does Teri Garr nail this part.
One of my favorite actresses as I was growing up as a teenager. A beautiful light who was charming, witty, and a terrific actor. RIP Teri. Thank you for the memories.
I absolutely adored this extraordinary woman in "Close Encounters" and "Tootsie". She made me cry with emotion and cry with laughter. A true movie great. Just brilliant. xx
"I think I should tell you to go shooovvvve your plaaaay" genius delivery on that 😆 Teri is unstoppable in this whole movie and this is the scene that should have won her the Oscar, not Jessica Lange
My favourite film - watched it many times - and it was wasn’t till just this very minute that I saw Terri say “self-respect and dignity” while sitting under the pan of that overhead light. Brilliant! RIP Terri
She's a great actress and very funny. These have been popping up in my suggestions for a few days. I'm going to have to watch the movie again. It's been decades...
I'm blown away by the acting, intelligence and power of this scene. My god, what has happened to movies these days? This is as real as it gets. RIP Terri, this is truly gifted acting.
I know the feeling. I'm about 1/2 through the David Letterman anthology. It makes me feel better. Yesterday I watched her final episode as Sgt. Phyllis Norton in McCloud. Anyone who got to work with Teri was so blessed, whether they knew it, or not. RIP dear lady.
Haven't seen this one in SO many years. Really ought to revisit it. Teri was a loveable and FUNNY lady. I hope she departed this world happy and content.
The nonstop scene stealer in a film stuffed to the gills with talent and personality. Rest in peace, Teri Garr. Rest without pain or weakness. You will be missed.
Lovely woman and so talented. I think she should have won her nomination for this role; she was so good. She shined in every role she was in, bringing her comedic timing, perfect delivery and vulnerability to characters. Young Frankenstein and Tootsie are two of my favorites. I enjoyed her autobiography, too. She was an admirable person and Hollywood didn't change her. RIP
every part, she nailed it. A bright light in any show she was in. She made it better. A lovely person who will be missed as a PERSON, not as only a star. RIp
Absolutely brilliant. Her timing and physical movements are priceless. She more than held her own with Dustin. Couldn't take my eyes off her. What a great loss but what a great legacy. Love you, Teri.
I hope she knew that. I think she should have gotten more recognition. The industry knew, I think. A witty, kind, smart, person and talented performer. RIP
She worked so hard to get to where she got to. And became a star. A great actress. Who should’ve gotten the Oscar for this performance. You made us happy. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
My very favorite scene in this movie.Teri Garr's comic timing was phenomenal. I thought that Sandy was someone that every man is entitled to date for the sheer excitement. I'd have been first in line if I'd been there.
This ex-Soviet kid (emigrated to US 1990) is forever grateful to Teri Garr - in 1983 the Soviet authorities (for reasons unknown) released this film in the USSR (which near-never happened for Hollywood movies), and I was 14, and watched this film 20 times, know it by heart, and Teri's performance made me laugh and empathize with her every single time. Jessica Lange gives an amazing performance (and of course Dustin Hoffman and Bill Murray are in absolutely top form) but I looked forward to this exact scene because of how amazing Teri is in it (and the rest of the film). Thank you, Teri.
Boy, I do remember those times I’ve called you six times🔥 Well, I haven’t checked my answering machine or it broke boy that was 1982. I was 15 years old. I remember those days.
Actually the point of the movie was a guy who treats women like crap learning what’s it’s like to be a woman being treated like crap. Not sure if you’d call that an agenda but there was a message.
This scene got her the Oscar nom! She was one of the most sweet & real actresses in Hollywood, the kind that usually don't succeed in light of that, so I'm glad for her that she beat those odds, R.I.P.
I love Teri Garr. She was so cute in the Star Trek episode and she just got better down thru the years. I hate so much that she has MS. So many stars seem to get neurological diseases.
Damn...great comedy legend. She should have won the Oscar over Jessica Lange. She nailed the funny, ditzy, frustrated, semi-ambitious, fed up, struggling actress in this film. No actress could have done what she did here.
Rest in peace, lovely Teri.
I came here just to say this. She will be missed.
@@martineokeeffe9326 Same as me.
Damn, so sad, it's painful. Guess heaven wanted her now.🙏🙏🙏
@@tonycalderon2268She suffered many years with MS. The Lord has her now. No more suffering.
She was just great. Unique and real and funny.
RIP Teri. Beautiful lady and actress.
One of the best scenes of all time. RIP Teri. Screaming and taking chocolate is such a vibe.
Heard Teri Garr passed away. She NAILED this role, and especially this scene. Outstanding actress who will be missed.
I think this role deserved the Oscar she was nominated for. I'll miss her, but glad there are so many performances we can see that she did so well in. RIP
Everybody who knew her/ acted with her had nothing but the nicest things to say about her. She was a sweetheart.
Teri Garr is so outstanding in this movie and especially in this scene. Love her!
She was robbed of the Oscar for this performance! Love Garr!!!!!!
TerI Garr was nothing short of brilliant in this movie. Her acting, timing, and high animation is just amazing. Plus, the acting chemistry between her and Hoffman is wonderful
RIP Teri Garr. Hands down one of the funniest scenes of the entire 80s.
Damn...
Brilliant. I’m so sorry she suffered with MS for long. Bless her.
PS: I bet Elaine May wrote this scene.
I came after reading the sad news. Brilliant lady.
@@peterzang She faced MS admirably. I think your right, Elaine May certainly could have !! RIP Teri, we'll miss y ou.
Terrific actress.
In "Tootsie" she delivered one of the best histrionic performances I've ever seen.

One of my all-time favorite movie lines: "I just have to feel like this until I don't feel like this anymore!"
Oscars dont deserve artists like her.
This scene resides in the hearts of millions of happy viewers
I love this scene and her reaction when he is revealed
One of my favorite actresses as I was growing up as a teenager. A beautiful light who was charming, witty, and a terrific actor. RIP Teri. Thank you for the memories.
They danced on their vulnerability back in the day. Today the stars affect grim and pained expressions, as if that makes them human and warm.
She's brilliant in this scene and everything else she did - love her, what a loss - rest in peace Teri.
Her outfit is perfection here amazing wardrobe Id wear it all tomorrow
Timeless style

Teri plays the struggling NYC actress to absolute perfection in this.

RIP Teri! This scene has always been meaningful to me, not to mention hilarious!
She looks like Lisa Kudrow, on the other hand her performance here is top-notch!
Didn't she later play 'Phoebe's' mom in "Friends" ? No surprise.
He got her to get in touch with her anger. RIP Terri you are a treasure

Jessica Lange won for the same movie...
R.I.P to a fine actress
Personally, I think Garr is better in this movie than Jessica Lange is, and she's just as pretty, too.
Garr is very good and pretty. Lange is great and beautiful
Absolutely!!1 Gorgeous
Ridiculous comparison! They are different actresses with different styles playing two totally different characters. Neither is better than the other.
