    hi so I made an optimistic extrapolation based on a few comments that I read about the Hourglass face palette...on the Hourglass site you can customize the packaging/palette combo (i.e. choose your design) but you can't customize the palette itself. IT'S FINE
    sorry for spreading false information

      I got excited too... But realistically I only want one or two shades, so it would be cheaper to just buy those. The fact that I haven't bought one yet probably means that it's not worth it for me...

    Hey there Hannah! I have a tip that’s working for me with regards to overspending and impulse purchases that I thought I’d share here. I’ve made a hard and fast rule that I don’t buy anything after 7 pm. For some reason my shopping behaviors ramp up in the evening and so now that I’m enforcing this rule I’m saving so much money! It’s working like a charm. Yep. Going on a no buy every night 😊

      Great tip! I’ll spend a day or a week persevering about makeup that’s caught my eye, I solidly present all the reasons to not purchase, then get in bed, grab my phone and order it. Sometimes the next day I think “did I really do that?” It’s like the tension builds and I release it, then sleep soundly. The remorse hits the next day when it’s too late to cancel the order. Anyway, great tip…I’ll try to heed it.

    I feel like Urban Decay needs a lesson in the art of subtle marketing. They could simply format all their palettes in the same packaging as the Naked palettes, but not have Naked written on it, and people would still buy. Regardless of the naming and concept of the palette, it’s generally the packaging which ignites the collectors mentality. The original ABH palettes weren’t a part of a cohesively named collection, but the packaging that was the same shape and size caused people to want all of them.

      @@karennash2085 I thought the same thing! I also think a name like that would be disruptive in a sense and would get people talking about the palette even more than they are now. Like it would be a nod to the Naked line without proclaiming itself Naked, too.

  • @anneelaine5020
    @anneelaine5020 2 ปีที่แล้ว +100

    I think this palette would be naked for the girls in the artwork whose skin is blue. I like that it reaches toward the people who love color and say “blue is my nude” who hate traditional nudes. It’s abandoning what Naked always meant to reach people who love to only make colorful choices and I kind of like that

    I love viewing makeup as a genre of art supplies. I love art supplies of all kinds. I’m not a person who puts on makeup for the everyday very much, but I love to come home and play around with artistry and cool bold looks atleast several times a week. It’s completely for myself. I feel guilty getting makeup because I don’t weak it out, but then again I don’t do my makeup for other people. Other people rarely see it. I just love to play with it. I love to hold it in my hands. I love to organize it. I love to test formulas.

      That is how makeup should be! What is the point, if we are not doing it for ourselves? We should definitely only do it for ourselves and no one else. If others get to see our art, then fine, but they don't need to.

      It's like the equivalent to someone who has their sketchbook at home. They don't take that thing into the streets and show it off to all the strangers around - it's for their own artistic expression and enjoyment. I think it's easy/natural to feel a certain level of guilt when it comes to makeup because we were traditionally socialised to think that makeup is to be worn by a woman to make her look & feel more beautiful, confident, "put together", etc. so that she could go out into the world putting her best foot forward. But that's all just silly marketing. If you think of your face as your sketchbook, that pressure goes away! 🙆🏻‍♀️✨🎨

    I feel like these videos help me train myself to think and talk (to myself) differently about beauty and my own spending habits. I've been a big overspender for a long time. And lol, I live in Norway, so half of the products haven't even been available to me without paying people to ship it to me from the States. I recently just took a long, hard look at my collection and I started crying, not because of the wasted money, but because it's the perfect illustration of my hedonistic lifestyle and mindset. And how fast I get used to and bored of the things I really, really (REALLY) want for an hour or a week or a month.
    I rarely buy makeup anymore, because I have so much I haven't touched yet. My new rule is to only replace items I've used up OR buy something completely new if it's something I really don't have in my collection yet. And now I'm exited to try a new conditioner when I run out, buy my favourite moisturiser when I actually finish one. Funnily enough, that gives me the same dopamine hit and satisfaction as the huge Sephora hauls I shipped overseas last year. But I can still feel the urge to spend money come back as a coping mechanism when I have a rough week or month.
    So thank you. For the encouragement, community, and for sharing your thoughts. You make me feel less alone, less hopeless, more in control, and more aligned with my actual values.

I bought exactly one eyeshadow palette this year and it was the new mothership. Almost all the new releases even from my favorite brands (kaleidos and Natasha denona) just seem to pale in comparison to how much I love the motherships I have. I’ve been patiently waiting to try her blush formula as I prefer blush/cheek palettes to singles and she finally released some. That will be the one thing I pick up from this collection. Oh wow I would buy a bronze neutral version of the Danessa palette (maybe with some greeny bronzes) in a heartbeat. I LUSTED after the volume 3 and almost bought it used on Poshmark for over $200 twice. I didn’t. Then she came out with the edit which was actually just the shades I wanted without the highlighters no one wanted. It was EXACTLY what I’d hoped would happen when she released that. And I bought that immediately and was SO excited. I’ve worn it twice :/

    I survived not purchasing the Hourglass Elephant Palette, thank goodness, but along came Mama Pat with her Holiday Collection. 😱 I ruled out the big palette immediately but the cool toned version of those smaller palettes had me scared. When those came in at $39 (I think) I was so relieved and plan to purchase it. The blush palettes are calling to me but I plan to skip those too and be happy with my one eyeshadow palette. I am already requesting a “Black Friday It is on sale” Hannah video to try to keep myself in check about the sales? That is as dangerous for me as all of the new releases? Cringe 😬 😂 Thanks Hannah! 💗

    I'm so relieved she decided to do another mega palette. If it were split into 3, 6 pan palettes I'd have already ordered 2 of the green one haha. I think I'm going to save up for the cheek palette though, so I can have a Pat McGrath on the eye and cheek moment.

    I have been suffering from Pat McGrath fever since 2018 so naturally my house is infested with PML items. Since you are in doubt about the blushes, I can offer my opinion as a long time user. They are my most long-lasting blushes in my collection...lasting through full work days and mask wearing. The formula is really exceptional and the embossing doesn't fade away. I can honestly say Desert Orchid is my favorite blush ever.

    To me the naked line represents a more “wearable” way of wearing the color that the palette represents. For example, the naked honey is a wearable palette for people that like yellow and gold. In this case the same could be said. Given all the warm neutrals that the more intense colours are paired with, this can be a more wearable way to wear these colours and so they just drifted away from the monochromatic palettes but its still a naked palette.

    • @palettesandpans
      @palettesandpans 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could apply the same logic to the Naked Cyber and suddenly the palette makes a lot of sense. Viewed as a "colourful palette with some duochromes", ppl were very disappointed, but if you switch your perspective to consider it as a "wearable, toned down colourful palette with approachable duochromes" you end up with a much more satisfying experience, I think. I, for one, love the Naked Cyber because it allows me to get quick and easy washes of colour with minimal time or effort spent blending things out

    I'm using mostly the Mothership V palette every time I do my makeup for the last 6 months. I'm right there with you, late to the party but loving every minute of it.
    Of the new Pat Mcgrath collection, I think I would go for one of the blush palettes... but then as you went on to say how it would get pushed to the back of the drawer I thought of all the beautiful blush palettes I've done that to.
    Surprisingly my favorite blush palette, the one I reach for daily, which is odd for more reasons than I can even articulate, but particularly because it has a luminous sheen. It doesn't need highlighter. Also, I received it in a beauty box...
    It's the Seraphine Botanicals Happy Hibiscus palette. I love it so, so much and I didn't even think I'd use it. Yet, going back to matte, light coral blushes seems so boring now. This palette is so pretty I can't believe it. ♡♡♡ if you haven't tried it, I highly suggest finding it for inexpensive on Mercari or ebay from somebody who didn't use it from their box. I know you'd love it as much as I do because your preference for blush is similar to me.

    Ya know, Pat McGrath had a vault sale a week or two ago and I snagged the Platinum Bronze palette, even though it wasn’t considered the best by a portion of her consumer base because I knew those were the colors I would use all day, everyday. The palette doesn’t even have any of her super special shades, just like you said for the newest Mothership palette, and I am still grabbing for it because the shimmers are so nice all over the lid for a simple look.
