I could listen to Kaz all day! She speaks slow enough to become absorbed and jolts you to being present with humour... if only all history teachers were like her!
One of the best days of my life was when my Sister and I visited /Notre Dame and climbed the outside stairs to check out the gargoyles. Even though it was 30 years ago I remember it like it was yesterday!
I love to add touches of gothic design to my rooms to create an eclectic, unique home.Thank you. This was very informative and enjoyable. I wish it were longer. I am reading “The Cloisters”, a mystery book you might enjoy. Naturally, it’s set in the Cloisters museum.
There is also the Canadian Parliament complex in Ottawa, which for years I've heard called "the Gothic pile". The complex is worth a visit when in Ottawa, especially the Library of Parliament.
It's super interesting that neoclasicism was considered pagan and bad taste bacl then, and victorian gothic more christian or near to God. And now the right-wing looooove every piece of neoclasicism unsavory columns and talk of the style like the righteous type of arquitecture but at the same time cry about how now there's no beauty in constructions without knowing or straight up ignoring how all beautiful architecture back then was possible to slaves and years and years of work
Kinda funny that with all the references to gothic revival under the victorians, that she left out arguably the most famous building in the world from that era out - Westminster Houses of Parliament.

Ravens, skulls, and gargoyles are all signatures of Gothic Design. What are your favorite spooky decor items?
