Wow you had an awesome trip! I’ve been seeing a lot of good reports and videos at the islands lately. Me and a few of my cousins are coming down from Tupelo tonight to go to cat island in the morning. We’ll be launching out of the Gulfport Harbor around 5:00am. This will be my first ever time fishing in the gulf since I live so far away. We hope to target speckle trout and redfish as well as white trout and crocker. I’m also gonna bring a rig for sheepshead. We are just looking for meat to bring back home. My cousins are bring their 1980 aquasport 196 and I’m bringing my 18ft ranger boat. Feel free to share any tips. Again congrats on the success trip. I’ll report back on how we do.

Better yet, since I'm retiring next April, you have to take me with you for my retirement "gift." I've been wanting to go out there with your "ole timer." B 863.
New to this site and new to any kind of salt water fishing. Wondering what kind of line and what strength to use for this type of fishing. Thanks for any advice.
Where is this marsh at? I just purchased a fishing boat 16ft and am curious if I can’t make it to the islands if there are any good in shore spots you are aware of I could hit this summer?

I usually let everything go. Had to keep them for the fish fry party. But when I do decide to keep I throw back all trout over 18 inches.

Go to DMR website lots of inshore reef coordinates you can get to with no problem.
