The quarter for the use of the cart is pure GENIUS, your quarter is returned when you return the cart, the carts are ALWAYS available, and never cluttering the parking lot!

Joni Wagner , you are absolutely right. In Germany this is ‘normal’ and it assures that shopping carts are returned to their stations.

  • @JaimeMesChiens

The quarter for the cart isn’t “cheap.” First, you’ll get the quarter back when you return the cart.
Second, the carts last longer when they’re not abused in the park lot, and,
Three, Aldi saves money by not having to hire a lot attendant to fetch up those carts 🛒.
Four, no feral carts to hit your car.
Aldi does all sorts of cool things that save them thousands every day in operating costs.
This savings goes directly to the consumer, which is a different business model than most American companies where the savings in operations goes to profit the stockholders.
You can buy a little key fob that has a slot to keep your quarter.
Rest assured that your cart will be in excellent condition without wonky wheels and parking lot dirt.
    Everyone wins!

I'm in Germany at the moment, home of Aldi - here the cart usage is not .25 cents, it's 1 Euro! which is equivalent to $1.14 - however, yes, you either get it back when you return the cart, but they also have chips available to use instead

I agree, i am from Italy and all the carts are with coins, when i came here in the us i was shocked by all the people who left the cart in the middle of the parking lot , they like to complain when a parking spot is taken by a cart but they are the first who don't put it back in place, all stores should have the carts with the coins.. it would teach a lot of people to be civil

They are NOT charging for their carts! It's a deposit.
Here, in Germany, you have a choice of using 50 Cents, 1 Euro or 2 Euros. I usually use 1 Euro ... because I'm a bit worried that a 2-Euro cart might disappear without me if I don't watch it ;-)

I’m in Connecticut and started shopping at Aldi because if their produce, lol.
In other grocery stores, the fruits and veggies aren’t wrapped. You bag the quantity you want.
I far prefer that it’s packaged since I witnessed a child pick his nose then touch a display of loose apples.
My Aldi always has good quality, fresh, PACKAGED fruits and veggies.

I'd have to look around again to find it, but if you look at the label of some un-butters, you can track down info via the web, taking you all the way back to the source and maybe find the sustainers that way.

ALDI is a German company. European supermarkets nearly all require you to put a coin in so that you can get the shopping trolley out. When you return the shopping trolley you get your coin back. It is done to stop people leaving the trolleys in parking spaces so you have to get out of the car to move them, because people are too lazy to take the trolley back, or even throw them in rivers or take them home. It's nothing to do with being "cheap". The shopping trolleys cost hundreds of dollars to replace.

I'm shocked they are allowed to even put that in there, i mean if you look at a box of tissues it says 100% cellulose and they put it in freakin cheese! we were basically eating small portions of tissues.

    • @Allpall
      @Allpall 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

it's not really wood shavings... it's a polymer of glucose commonly found in plant cell walls. so we eat it all the time it's also called indigestible plant fiber. it's added to cheese to prevent clumping. it's not toxic in those quantities.

Great video! Super informative!! One note of...whatever...the graphics are helpful but a bit misleading. The “Avoids” could use a qualifier. Your graphic, for example, said “Avoid: Grapeseed oil” but what you REALLY meant is “Avoid: Grapeseed oil THAT DOESN’T SAY ‘EXPELLER PRESSED’ or ‘COLD PRESSED’ or ‘EXTRA VIRGIN’” But don’t get me wrong, the video is awesome (as are all your videos). Also side note, I’ve been watching you since you had like 30k subscribers. And wondered why you didn’t have more. Not for anything, but I began shopping at Aldi because I am overwhelmed in larger stores with too many choices (some strange anxiety in stores with too many options). I can do Costco, but my go to stores for years now are TJs and Aldi, with my preference being Aldi. Where I live Aldi is beginning to have a better reputation; initially it was looked down upon by most of my co workers and friends as a run down, off brand, shite store. I cannot tell you how many people NOW say that they shop at Aldi because they have the best prices and some of the best produce. Make sure eggs say 100% pasture raised v. cage free. Avoid powdered chicken broth or boullion as has MSG in it. Buy chicken or beef stock. Buy 100% grass fed beef or bison. Cause keto works!

    • @totallyrufus
      @totallyrufus 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I used to feel the same exact. I actually saw keto as nothing but a placebo trend. I used to be heavily involved with the occult and when I used to work at an Ayahuasca/Iboga/rapè retreat with shamans, EVERYONE there were hopping on either the vegan waggon, vegetarian or keto diet. I noticed all the vegans and vegetarians I knew were aging quickly and horribly due to not adding in enough supplements. They were also becoming very depressed and not even realizing that the meat substitutes they were eating were full of bad ingredients. The keto dieters I knew looked the healthiest and seemed overall happier.
Anyway, long story short...I had gotten really mentally scarred from working at an Ayahuasca retreat and after I decided to leave and NEVER look back, I had also started experiencing these feelings of anxiety when I'd hear any words that I overly heard at this retreat. Words like "enlighten" "conscienceness" "vegan" "foodie" "goddess" "love and light" "soul sister" and yes.....even "keto"
Hardly anyone there was keto. It was mainly vegans that were hanging on their last thread of health and constantly getting sick.
Anyway, that's why for years, I refused to try keto because it triggered me in a weird way and made me shake and sweat being blasted into the memory of my past at the retreat.
Long story short, my all American diet was making me lethargic, giving me mood swings, throwing off my hormonal balance, causing inflammation, irritating my arthritis and other symptoms so I decided to mix it up. I started a mix of all American diet with adding it days of eating healthy. It did help, but not really all that much. I was still thrown off.
So about 70 days ago, I decided to do the carnivore diet, which has helped me tons and after the 90 day challenge, I will be starting keto. I have slipped up a few times on my new diet and I have found that when I stick to it, I have great energy, my ace isn't fat and puffy and my back doesn't hurt. On days I've had dairy and caffeine, it never fails...the next day, my face is redish and puffy and I don't feel as good. So a strict diet works greats and it gets easier over time. After 45 days, my cravings for sweets and carbohydrates completely went away and now it's super easy to fast on my day of fasting and I don't even feel hungry. I've lost weight and am back at the weight my doctor told me I should be at.
I'd add more but it would take too long.

I'm a new member of the Keto community and LOVE your grocery Hauls! Maybe everyone else already knows, but who is ART? A friend, family member, employee?? I love watching both of you conversing as you try to educate us at the grocery stores!

Great video on this one. You should do a video on shopping at Kroger's

True, great video. Sorry to be a bummer but there's no S in Kroger. I'm just doing a small part in trying to end the corporate renaming disease. Just like there's no S in Walmart and no S in Target.

I live in Kansas and we have mostly Dillon's which is Kroger. Also when I lived in Texas we had mostly HEB, which is Kroger. We do not really have anything but these big chains. We got an Aldi's a few years ago, and we have a very small local whole foods type store called Green Acres, but most groceries have to come from Dillon's or Walmart. I just hate Walmart, not enough choices, almost everything is packaged in tons of plastic, and it is just too big/too many people. So yes please do Kroger's

Since FlavCity is in Chicago, they could do Food4Less or Mariano's. However, results will not be the same compared to most Kroger affiliates.
Mariano's is upscale and run independent of Kroger (but they do carry Kroger brand items).
Food4Less is clean/fresh, but the opposite of upscale. The selection of products (especially organic) at Food4Less is limited compared with other regular/traditional grocery stores. The prices for Kroger brand items are less than what they are sold for at Mariano's and even the Kroger stores in Michigan.
