Best thing about the early LMA was the highlights looking nothing like the in game footage. They could score a tap in from 3 yards, but in the highlights it would be bent in from 35 yards
I didn't include the audio but if you hear that song with "I want you to go through the season and not lose one match" spoken over it, you'll have a massive hit of nostalgia!
My peak as a child was stumbling into a league cup final with Forest in LMA Manager 2007. Thought I was a genius back then, as I ignored how much we got dominated every game
Love it! I have a similar experience of this, I signed Brad Friedel for Villa in one of these games and then the transfer happened for real a year or two later!
I played the first part of Player Manager. The offices and rooms in the stadium were brilliant. I currently play a lot of Championship Manager 2007 on the PC because I often played Championship Manager 2006 on the PS2.
On premier manager i used to buy all the best midfielder and a keeper and play 10 midfielders and used to win the league easily. The game just basically went of how many stars your players was and position didn't matter i olayed peter scmeichel upfront once and he scored 4. Great times
@danthegamingmanYT amazing times I used to a play a managing game something 97 it was called and me and my dad who has since passed away used to try and recreate the England team. There was a glith where you could negotiate and eventually get any player for 1k wish I could remember the name of it
Lovely stuff - I spent soooo many hours on PM 98. I enjoyed the Italian league on PM 99 but I felt PM 98 had a better overall package. Never went through the season without losing a match though. LMA Manger was also amazing, along with Player Manager 2000. Great times. ISS Pro my game of choice over Fifa though!
ISS Pro over Fifa, I can get that. I'm one of those rare people who loved both! PM98 was my favourite of the series, though I did own all the PM games I think at some point... LMA Manager certainly was amazing, would love them to bring it back!
There's a few gems you missed! Premier Manager 97 on the Sega Megadrive and the Alex Ferguson manager game on the PS1 were epic. I know you mentioned one of the Premier Manager games but PM99 and PM2000 on PS1 were played excessively in my household. As was Championship Manager 01/02 when it came out.The FourFourTwo manager game on the PC was probably the worst I played.
Yes, I will possibly do a second part to this video as there are a handful more games on the system that I want to revisit including the Alex Ferguson Player Manager and the two PM games you mentioned. I am not familiar with FourFourTwo, if I do a video about the PC games then I'll check it out. And as for PM97 on the Mega Drive, that the first one I ever owned, I remember my mum picking it up for me from Electronic Boutique with my birthday money and presenting it to me when she picked up from school, spent many hours with that one.
@@danthegamingmanYT that was like me, another talent lma had was wonder kids...I remember always buying kompany...and many more wonder kids that went on to be world class players...
I seem to remember it being one of the only games that allowed players to have more than one position too. Like Dion Dublin at Villa (my team), he often player centre back as well as striker, in his later years and LMA included that!
Great video mate 👍, remember getting all of them games haha premier manager 99 F.A Manager where also good games... do miss LMA though they need to bring it out again I would buy it 😂
Couldn't agree more on the LMA series, there is definitely a place for it, even with FM being available on consoles now, the LMA games have a nice simplicity about them that just make them nice to pick up and play. We don't have the chooses now that we once did sadly...
I found my copy of F.A. Premier League Manager 2000 during lockdown and it proved to be one of the biggest mistakes I ever made! I started a game as one of the three teams relegated from the Premier League that season, Sheffield Wednesday, I started off with my goal being avoiding relegation, however, as the season went on, we were in the top half of the table, so at the turn of the year, I changed my aim to achieving European football, we got it on the final day when we won, Leeds were thrashed by Man. Utd. and Villa drew. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, I get a message informing me that I’ve been sacked and my game’s over. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
That's crazy, sounds like a bug...? I always struggled to do well on that game, I found it to be quite hard in comparison to some of the other management games on the system...
You are absolutely spot on about FA Manager, and you know what I'd completely forgotten about it until after I posted this video. It came up in my feed a couple of days later and I kicked myself. If I do a follow up, it'll be included for sure.
Fun video. I didn't have a ps1 but played my share of football management games in the late 90s. Who is the goalscorer around 1:40? Absolutely stunning 😮
I remember at the start of 2000s I bought one football manager game and I can't find it anywhere, not even the name. I've checked multiple Premier Managers but with no success. I remember it had 3D ME, and for some reason I remember that Jens Lehmann from Dortmund was the best goalkeeper in the game, I don't know if someone knows the game where we wast the best goalkeeper 😂
6:27 i was waiting to see of you made this mistake ...but Actually it didnt come from FIFA, it used the match engine from FA Premier League STARS, a sort of sister game (down to the menus) that came out 2 months earlier FAPLS was significantly different to FIFA in the way it controlled (i think its a great rival for PES whilst FIFA was a button masher at the time) STARS dosnt get enough love in my opinion, its underrated 😂
Which football management game did you like most on the PS1?
LMA hands down
Best thing about the early LMA was the highlights looking nothing like the in game footage. They could score a tap in from 3 yards, but in the highlights it would be bent in from 35 yards
Haha, yes I noticed that when I was playing.
PM98 was a flashback, damn.
I didn't include the audio but if you hear that song with "I want you to go through the season and not lose one match" spoken over it, you'll have a massive hit of nostalgia!
I want, I want to go through the season and not lose 1 game I know its no impossible I've done it before
I always used to think that was Bobby Robson, not sure if it was...
@@danthegamingmanYT same must like you though I'm not sure either
My peak as a child was stumbling into a league cup final with Forest in LMA Manager 2007. Thought I was a genius back then, as I ignored how much we got dominated every game
And did you lift the trophy?
@@danthegamingmanYT Pretty sure I lost by a lot lol
In LMA I brought Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to Chelsea well before it was the done thing

You simply can't beat those old games, the new FM games are good but too much depth. Give me a 20 year old CM or LMA instead!
That Dalian Atkinson goal is beautiful
Wanted to include a 90s Villa goal in the video, had to be that one really, didn't it?
I got sacked at spurs on pm 98 on Christmas day (in game), though i was only 8 years old 😆
Alan Sugar was ruthless, wasn't he?
On premier manager i used to buy all the best midfielder and a keeper and play 10 midfielders and used to win the league easily. The game just basically went of how many stars your players was and position didn't matter i olayed peter scmeichel upfront once and he scored 4. Great times
Haha, great fun! Yeah it is fairly simple compared to some of the others at the time.
@danthegamingmanYT amazing times I used to a play a managing game
something 97 it was called and me and my dad who has since passed away used to try and recreate the England team. There was a glith where you could negotiate and eventually get any player for 1k wish I could remember the name of it
Finding a glitch like that is brilliant, but yeah it's hard to know which games are which, as there was so many...
@danthegamingmanYT ive just asked older brother and he's sure it was player manager 97
I'll have to check that out!
LMA is still my favourite all time manger game series. I really wish they would make them again
I'd love it to come back, by far the best console management game.

Playing LMA manager with cheat codes so i could build Oldham a 100 000 seater stadium
Nothing better than taking a side up through the leagues. It was such a great game...
Bring back LMA Manager 🙌🏼
We need to start a petition!
just found this channel a bit of meself mate
Glad you like it!
Maybe it's better in the U.S. that we are interested in multiple sports.
Well we do have a few popular sports in the UK, rugby and cricket for example, though football is by far the most watched of course...
Fun video. I didn't have a ps1 but played my share of football management games in the late 90s.
