Why didn’t you wash it out completely on the outside also? That pump needs to be absolutely clean inside and out to ensure no dirt gets inside. It is a high precision piece of equipment and it can fail very easy from any dirt particles getting inside it. The top surface should be block sanded down or resurfaced to get all that pitting and rust scarring out. It needs to be extremely flat/smooth. Instead of blowing it out just use diesel fuel to wash it out. And put all of your bolts, washers and other parts in clean washer.
