Thank you especially for the weather update, Mark. It's good to hear you're in a good location. Word of a UK heat wave raised concerns in me for you, Kevy, and Paul H. So please keep us posted and stay well. In New York it's hot, but nothing record-setting. In terms of the hobby, I've made a few adjustments. It's a humid heat, so I'm using synthetics exclusively since natural hair brushes take too long to dry and just get funky in this weather. I'm also using cold water exclusively, to the point that I have to remind myself to switch to warm when I rinse out the brush. It seems to work for me better apart from the cooling effect, though I may feel different come winter. Last but not least, I've been supplementing my lathers with PAA's Ice Cube 2.0 or B&M's Terrorade. They've become essential to a good shave and to enjoying soaps I would otherwise pass over this time of year. Our heat wave should last through the weekend. Hope things improve for your country soon. Cheers.
Hi Warren, I'm glad to read that New York is not setting any records for heat. We are quite lucky on the West Coast, as we quite often get a nice sea breeze. As usual, this hot spell has ignited the climate change argument in the news. Good to read of you cool shaves!
Had my first shave with the Muhle Rocca yesterday with a Super Iridium blade. Very impressed with the efficiency, smoothness, and mild feel. I expected a lot more blade feel. Fantastic blade clamping as well. I actually over shaved it was so comfortable. I also liked the quality of the razor. Very well made and finished. I got the matte silver version and love the look and feel of the knurling. I was worried the handle would be too thick and too long but it feels perfect in hand. I do think the Rocca is noticeably more efficient per stroke than the Edwin Jagger DE 89.
That is terrific. You have obviously found a razor that suits you down to the ground. The handle is very nice in the hand, very comfortable. It didn't feel more effective to me, but that is the enjoyable thing about shaving - YMMV may strike at any time. Enjoy your new razor, mate. Cheers.
Awesome video as always Mark. I was telling you a few weeks back that I as on the fence between the Murkur 38C (Long handled 34C) and the Edwin Jagger DE89. Well I got the 38C and I’m amazed are what a beautiful razor it is, as well at how beautiful it shaves with a number of blades… Personna (USA) Blue, Treet Platinum, ASTRA and Gillette Platinum blades… just a brilliant performer. Well, I was still thinking on the Edwin Jagger DE89… and I eventually gave into my impulses and ordered one from Shave Nation… it will be here tomorrow. It the DE89 with the Lined Handle. And I understand it is made in Sheffield, England, a place I visited when I lived in the UK, and my grandfather & grandmother bought all their kitchen, sporting and hunting & fishing knives from. I’m sure it will also be a wonderful performer just like the 38C, but I really fancy the idea that it’s made in England and says Sheffield right on the Razor. Best wishes my friend, George Silver Hawk
@@FriendshipShaving Not at all a problem my friend, I understand. Long story short, I liked both the 38C and DE89... I was torn, so I settled the issue scientifically.... I got both... 😉 You take care and get yourself, "right as rain in no time flat", as my old neighbor in Maysey Hampton would say... 🇬🇧
Indeed the 3ONE6 is a winner for those like myself who enjoy the mild shaver. I do have the Rocca head, and intend on getting it out for a shave in the near future.
@@omfgihopethisworks that's a good question. It's been a while since I have shaved with either one, owing to my having so many razors (something I suspect others can relate to!) and so I shall make those two my next shaves, of which I will get back to you and give my impressions as for comparison🙂
@@viningscircle Thanks, Ive been thinking between these 2 razors and a few others. Leaning towards the EJ 3ONE6 as most reviews tend to say its mild enough for daily shaves yet still efficient. Also seems to be nimble for an SS razor, and looks good with the knurled handle.
Lovely comparison video👍🏾. If on had just one choice between an Edwin Jagger 30ne6 and Rex Envoy as a heirloom stainless steel razors, which would you advise?
Thank you. Ooh, this is a hard question. I would choose a replated Gillette adjustable from Back Roads Gold 😅 I think the Envoy is possibly better quality, so that one.
Good question! The R41 is, in my opinion, more aggressive and shaves a little closer. However, the Rocca gives a super shave with the Rocca and the heavier weight adds to it's effectiveness.
Personally I did enjoy the Rainbow blades more than the Astra ones. But I'll give them another try in the future as well since I only used one pack so far, and the feeling I got was the same one you mentioned.
I have found that sometimes when there is a blade I don't like, when I try them later or in a different razor, they are quite often better. It's a puzzle.
OMG! It's a good job it is not strongly scented or you would have been honking, Ray. They would have smelled you coming down the street. What a waste, though.
Nice comparison shave Mark. A bit of spilled blood today - it happens. Currently Astras are tuggy for me. Seems to not be sharp enough for my thick growth. Jagger for the win! Closer and more comfortable! See you Friday. Take care. Thanks to Kevy! Btw - I like this camera angle better.
Thank's buddy. Jagger is the supreme champion - at least for me. It was very enjoyable to be able to compare/contrast these razors. I had best start packing Kevy's box ready to post. What do you get the man who has everything, shaving wise, as a thank you? Mmm.
I looked at both these razors as well as the Rex Envoy, to buy a razor slightly more aggressive than my usual choices. I ended up with the Rex. How would you compare the three Mark? BTW I also didn't like the Astras but they too work well in the Rex.
I'm afraid I don't have the Rex Envoy, so I can't help you there, David. Sorry about that. I may have to sell the odd thing and perhaps look at getting one second hand. If there are not any available on the second hand market, that is the sign of a good razor 😄
Good comparison shave. I prefer Astra sp blades for my head shave. Weather on Monday was 36 here in the Black Country, today Tuesday it's expected to be 38. Would be great with a breeze. Enjoy your 40 winks on the afternoon: cheat and call it a power nap, lol.
Ooh, that is quite warm, Roy. We must be one of the few people left alive in the UK. If the press is to be believed, everyone else has spontaneously ignited in this heatwave.😂
I thought that you were doing a Jim Will Shave with the bloody chin Mark. That Rocca can be a beast if not handled carefully. I find that the 3one6 is definitely a smoother shave than the Rocca
The shave was a lot of fun, despite the blood letting. It has been great to compare these different razors, very enjoyable. I don't know what I used to do before I made videos for enjoyment. 😁
I believe the Rainbow blades are made by Lord and are similar to Shark blades, most Lord blades give me no more than 3 or 4 shaves. Great comparison and this time the result was as expected, at least for me. Thank you for your blood sacrifices to appease the shaving gods.👍😊🤟
Ooh, that is warm Paul. I used to have to go to Spain, to get 36 degrees. It's all doom and gloom in the papers. I must admit to being very happy at about 28 degrees. Take care.

What a great shave! I definitely like the way you relate to wet shaving!

Hi, Mark! Alexander here. Good to see that you're doing well. Do take care.
Hey Alex. I hope you are keeping well. Take care, my friend.
Two beautiful razors 🔥
Thank you mate.
Hello,
With Mühle Rocca, can you achieve the same close and close shave as with Mühle R41?
Good question! The R41 is, in my opinion, more aggressive and shaves a little closer. However, the Rocca gives a super shave with the Rocca and the heavier weight adds to it's effectiveness.
Personally I did enjoy the Rainbow blades more than the Astra ones.

Used lucky tiger several days ago and the regulator came off, spilling half. First time for everything.

@@FriendshipShaving thank goodness it wasn't Proraso green. That would have been tragic.

Nice shave again Mark! I like that brush, pretty cool handle 😎 👍
I need to use my Lucky Tiger soon, I've been neglecting it 🙂
Have a good week!

nice shave mate . 36 degrees down here today pretty warm indeed . had to hit the menthol soap today and a nice straight razor 👌
