Stern Ghostbusters Pinball Slimer toy FIX and REPLACEMENT. What's different about the two versions? In this video we will compare the original and revised Slimer Toy mech from Stern Pinball. And, we will replace my original mechanism with the new design. Some people say you can fix the original Slimer Toy by moving the wire to the middle under the plastic cover. This did not fix mine so I ultimately contacted my distributor and was sent a replacement Slimer that is the new design. I should have gotten this design originally!

I have two MAME emulators on my Dad's Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I have games from Konami, Midway, and SEGA. When I saw the thumbnail from the on the road and then fine out that it was a Data East Real Ghostbusters arcade so I downloaded the roms to have a 3 player. Konami made the best arcade rendition of animated chartoon's from the 90's like The Simpsons, Bucky O'Hare, TMNT, and C.O.Wboys Of Moo Mesa. I have TMNT Turtles in Time arcade which you are doing after you get the MK 2 arcade out of the way. But don't rush because fall is here but that does not mean that winter is coming around the corner.

You guys are wrong! The two balls next to slimer are captive balls. They don't come out of there!
I just checked the unboxing video again and your right, theres 6 balls plus the ones built into the field, which makes me ask why those are there lol

Both funny and helpful video's John ;-) GB-pinball looks so much fun and I am considering getting one for the lobby of my rather ambitious home-cinema!! ;-) The only thing I think sucks about PinBall is the fact that you can never get so good at it, that you can actually keep your balls from falling into the "pit" - it's out of your hands either way. All too often you'll see those balls heading straight down towards the pit and then you're dead no matter what. In those instances it's not about being quick on the flip-buttons, or being good at the game, no matter how fast you are, those flips can't reach certain balls from certain doom! That's an annoying fact from within the world of pin-ball machines, right. There should be a function/possibility to master as the gamer, something that would prevent any ball from falling, IF good/fast enough! :-) Am I alone on this?

I think I'm gonna wait about a year before I even think about getting a Ghostbusters. I can't imagine spending 5k and having to do a repair job on it. But educational none the less!

Cool vid man, yeah we dig this stuff for sure. Glad the new mech fixed your game man, would of crushed me to pay that much loot and sell a pin for it and it have an issue like this.
For your viewer mail question about the DK harness, you do have a whole video that shows this in detail, from when you put the second card in your machine.. The viewer who wrote would learn a lot from that video..

With the way Slimer moves now, it makes sense that he is now hollow or less solid/heavy. Since before Slimer was very "free moving", the weight didn't matter much and probably actually helped center it again. Now if it was too heavy with the new style and him moving much less it probably wouldn't budge much with the weight and thickness of the old one. Interesting, though.

Just my 2 cents : In the viewer mail, regarding the question from the guy who wanted to buy a supergun for 250 bucks i indeed think it's a rip-off for such a high price. It costs around 40 bucks to get one done by yourself as it's mostly a bunch of resistors, wires and connectors (+one or two cheap discrete ICs to handle the S-Video/composite output).
Nothing that would justify to pay more than 100 bucks even with a nice box around and golden plated sockets :=)
I really think the interest of using a supergun in US is very limited due to the fact that almost no CRT TVs were made there allowing to be fed with proper RGB signal and one had to stick with S-video at best or composite at worst which really spoils the arcade experience in my opinion.
But in Europe (where i live) and Japan, it really makes sense to get one (specially for an arcade collector) as all of the superguns sold there embed a SCART output allowing straight RGB connection to any CRT TV (most got SCART RGB input in Europe) turning them into perfect arcade monitor replacements. That's very very handy in case the monitor in your JAMMA arcade cabinet breaks down and you can't find any used one to replace it, then all you need to do is find an old tube TV, connect it to the scart RGB conneector from your supergun then plug the jamma board in the jamma connector from the supergun and voilà !! Up and running again in full glorious RGB :=)

Sounds to me the last time you had the play field up would have been either for the shaker motor install or maybe the side art install. Have you checked inside the machine under the play field?

LOL, starting up frogger it's the computer space repair all over again! Really though I'm surprised they went with a bobber instead of something simpler like a levered microswitch and hooked rod to register the slimer hits.

Didn't you lose some on the floor when you removed them to install the shaker?
The upgraded Slimer should work better because the pivot point is now above and in the centre of the metal O ring allowing more movement. On the old one, the pivot point was at the back where it was snagged next to the molex connector.

I bought a brand new pro model Ghostbusters pin today..ball has gotten stuck behind the slimer when he is down about 5 times not...any adjustments I can make to stop that from happening?

Those are decorative captive balls that never come out of there.....
I was surprised to hear that when you called Stern, they didn't apologize and immediately ship you the new Slimer part. Given what their machines cost new, they should include some solid customer support/service. No need for a middleman dealer to get involved whatsoever.. Just makes more work for the customer.

Should have tied a string to the connector before your pulled the old one up. Then you could have tied the string to the new connector and pulled it back down.
Also, $250 is waaaaaaay too expensive for a SuperGun. I got mine for £20.
its like a reverse plumb bob tilt with a "normally closed" rod touching the metal grounding ring (like the normally closed slam tilt on coin door older Gottleb pinball games ) , so only a front to back hit swing will register,, in truth must have been a pain to design so it does not false register from inertia swings (which is why they used the stiffer wire rope . They should have used a G-sensitive chip in slimers body to measure ball front ball impact strike,, instead of swing reaction maybe a piezo switch like gottlieb used in there smart switch targets would work as well so long as it would only react to front ball strike hits .
G-sensitive chip - wow, too expensive, and why not kick a leg to trigger.
Piezo switch - better, still expensive, need a solid backing
Wire rope through metal ring - good, cheap, durable - oops too small gauge used.
Slimmer is a solid dingy bob on a string; hence, new hollow Slimmer on a heavier wire rope. Slimmer must move inside the bushing up in the arm, not lower down where Slimmer connects to the rope. Target is hollow for shock abortion and durability.

There should be no fixes for what Stern charges for these pins. I have a new jurassic park and I'm not sure I'd buy another nib with the fixes that needed to be done
