I don’t understand what what they are doing that is “different/new and there is no explanation. Maybe I learned the “different/new” method only and that’s why I can’t figure it out. If anyone could explain, that would be great. I’ll keep reading comments but so far I haven’t found an explanation.
I think the usual method would be joining the loop together with a slip stitch in the first stitch. This method you take the yarn off the hook and pull it through the first stitch from the back. Another new thing (for me anyway) is the 1sc 1ch to start the row...I was taught 3ch to mimic the height of a double crochet for the first stitch.
joining with a slip stitch is what is usually done, the way she is doing she removes the working loop and goes into that stich without any yarn on the hook then puts the working yarn on it pulls it though creating a seamless work. it is actually super cool to those that have just been using a slip stitch
@@Ani-tc2mg So you can just use any pattern, i.e. a coaster and use this technique of removing the working loop etc...to get a seamless work? From someone who just follow a YTube tutorial for a project from start to finish.
she's creating something that resembles a double crochet stitch at the beginning of each round. in the traditional way, you'd simply slip stitch to join the row you're finishing & then chain three & continue with dc for the rest of the round. that chain-three counts as the first double crochet of the round & fills the space but of course doesn't look the same. if you complete enough rounds in the traditional way, it will look fine but often your eye will go to those three chained stitches masquerading as dc.
@@danielleaf9146 yes, I use this joining method wherever possible and also the starting technique. I also learned to do‘standing stitches’ instead of chaining to start a row. You can apply these techniques even if the tutorial you’re watching, doesn’t do that. I’ve found that most tutorials seem to be geared toward absolute beginners, and they don’t include these techniques, but you are free to include them!
I learn slow sadly, but when you start a new row/circle, do you put 2 double crochet in one place all the way around? I am not familiar with texted patterns, so it confuses me 😮
After the first round of 12 stitches , then second round you put 2 DC into each of the 12 stitches so you get 24 eg 2,4,6,8,10 , 3rd row you put 2 double crochet into the first stitch then into next st do 1 double crochet , then next stitch you pit 2 double crochet so it is 1,2,1,2,1,2 all the way round, 4th row do 2 double crochet , then 1 double crochet in next st , another 1 double crochet in the next stitch so you do 2,1,1,2,1,1,2,1,1 , then the 5th row its 2 double crocher then , 1 double crochet ,1 double crochet , 1 double crochet , so it goes 2,1,1,1,2,1,1,1 2,1,1,1 hope you understand, she does her beginning different which can confuse beginners , keep it simple and start as I've said ok good luck ...
She always starts from the 2nd row on with 2 double crochet. 1= single crochet+1 chain (fake double crochet) + 1 double crochet. This single+chain represents 1double crochet. On the 2nd row it's always 2double crochet in each stich. On the 3rd, starts one fake double crochet+double crochet= 2 double crochet, on the next stich 1double, next 2 double, next 1 double... One each row there will b 1 more between 2 double crochet: 2, 1, 2,1. On the next row 2,1,1,2,1,1,2... The next row 2,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,2...The next row 2 ,1,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,1,2...This way it's made a perfect circle. If on the first row there is 10 stiches, the 2nd = 20. The 3rd +10= 30. The next +10=40, next 50...
I have been crocheting for 65 years and still watch as many videos and tutorials as possible. I crochet every day. I almost treat myself like a newbie who is always open to learning new stitches and techniques of crochet and seem to learn something new every day. The step up joins still frustrates me after all this time and this is a real find for me. Thank you.
Personally, I’m a visual learner, so watching and listening to the music is perfect for me…different strokes for different folks and can’t please everyone😊
What she does: The first round she chains 2 at the start before double crocheting, just like you usually would do with 3 chains. When she goes to join in the 2nd round, she does not slip stitch into the top of the 2 chains, she skips those chains, and she slip stitches into the first double crochet. Then, the rounds after that, she starts each round with a single crochet and then a chain after the single crochet, before beginning regular double crochets. When she goes to join in the 3rd round, she skips the single crochet and the chain, and slip stitches into the firsy double crochet.
I love this and your work is so neat but I really wish there were some explanation about the brilliant stitches you do. Into the back of a stitch, SC then ch 1 etc. relying on the visuals is quite hard. have mercy.
So, as far as I can see, the only difference from visible join is that you make the connection going into the back of the stitch? It’s not very clear and I think this is why people are complaining about the music and no verbal instructions.
No, it's not the only stitch that hides the visible join; if you look carefully, she connects the end of each row by joining to the end of the second stitch thro the back of it, and then does a single crochet and then a chain followed by a DC in the same chain hole, if you get my meaning, lol. Looks tricky but it is really quite simple, and a lovely video of leaning process. :)

Very cool! I do have a question, though. If the initial sc+ch counts as the first st, but then you join the round into the first dc, how do you not lose a st from skipping over the sc+ch?

Cool. That's actually how I started doing my invisible joins a couple months ago. I figured it out in my own but, I never thought about incorporating the manuever into a project with rounds. Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like it’s the same. Just don’t SS to join. Instead, pull the loop directly through the top of the first ch of the row, SC into same stitch and ch 1. After that keep DC around like you would normally to make a circle.
I've just completed a pair of elbow patches for my hubby's jumper. Wish I'd seen this before I started! I love the invisible joins between rows. Could you do a pattern using sc (UK dc) instead of dc (UK tr) to show how to do the increases on each row? Thanks.
Another great way to end a round! Might I share the way i have seen for starting a round? Instead of a chain 3, do a single crochet and then another single on the side bar in the front of the first one. It might not be a thing for everybody but maybe worth a try. I use it all the time
I just followed you ...got confused after 6th layer...unable to follow the increase...can you explain again the increase pattern so i can do on my own...thanks a lot .
She is increasing by 12 each round Round 1- magic loop, chain 2, 11 double crochets (US terms) (12 stitches) R2- single crochet, chain 1 + 1 dc into the same stitch, then 2 dc in each stitch around (24 stitches) R3- sc, ch1, dc, dc, 2dc, repeat (36) You start each round with a sc & ch1 which counts as your first double crochet of the row So for round 6 it would be 6x12= 72 Then 7x12=84

Well there is always the mute button to eliminate music. Music is food for the soul though, it's just a case of finding a music style that speaks to our inner being. There are many languages in the world and the whole world can upload to TH-cam. There might be folk who can understand every single language on earth, but I doubt there are very many of them. Bless them, the translation subtitles can sometimes result in gibberish being displayed but, then again, there are plenty who speak only gibberish.
Oh thank you so much, for showing us all the most easier way to get through the magic circle. I was always stuffed it up. I like your method, so much better. Thank you for sharing ❤

This is very relaxing. I absolutely love that there’s just music and no talking.
Instead of a music loop, I would rather hear you describe what you are doing.
You might be surprised to find that you might be listening to someone speaking a language you've never learned. This way the lesson is universal.
I prefer the music. That way I can watch without being distracted by talking.
I agree about the music loop....annoying

She is increasing by 12 each round
Round 1- magic loop, chain 2, 11 double crochets (US terms) (12 stitches)
R2- single crochet, chain 1 + 1 dc into the same stitch, then 2 dc in each stitch around (24 stitches)
R3- sc, ch1, dc, dc, 2dc, repeat (36)
You start each round with a sc & ch1 which counts as your first double crochet of the row
So for round 6 it would be 6x12= 72
Then 7x12=84

There are many languages in the world and the whole world can upload to TH-cam. There might be folk who can understand every single language on earth, but I doubt there are very many of them. Bless them, the translation subtitles can sometimes result in gibberish being displayed but, then again, there are plenty who speak only gibberish.
I ask: is possibile to do in sc rather than dc? Or it works only in dc? Thank you 💐
