helpful video, back molar deep chip wondering if another method other than a crown but does not look like another option. Do think I will get a second opinion then may get a different cost, thanks for that suggestion
None of my teeth have been chipped luckily, but they have been wearing down in the front. My new dentist(s) have been monitoring them to make sure they don't get any worse.
Got my chipped tooth fixed a week ago. Thanks so much for your video. In Israel the filling was about 100 USD to repair and 30 minutes minus wait time. PS my dentist said popcorn is the most common by far. My fail point was organic granola. Ow.

I laughed at your comparison of costs in San Francisco vs. a "rural" area!! You showed a picture of downtown Telluride, Colorado- a VERY expensive place for anything! LOL!!!
I chipped my front tooth & my dentist bonded it 2 times. Now I am going back next Monday to have it bonded a 3rd time.
If I do need a crown down the road he suggested crowning all 4 of my teeth surrounding the front tooth to get a better cosmetic look.
They must have trouble making a crown the exact color. This seems aggressive to me!!

When I was 11 years old I chipped my front tooth on the seesaw when I fell forward. The very next day my mother took me to our dentist and I am guessing they did the white composite bc u literally cannot tell my tooth was ever chipped in half. It looks natural, same coloring as my teeth, and I literally can eat hard things like its not gonna fall out and I have had it for 10 years now.
I broke my tooth with a cherry seed but my broke @$$ just left it like that. When i got the other part out of my mouth a couple days later, i was happy that i could finally eat on that side. 2 days later, i chipped another tooth in half and the piece that is off my mouth has like brown hard stuff in it lol.
Same! When I was 9 I swam without my goggles and bumped my incisors into the metal boarder. My dad took me to the dentist and 8 years later I forgot I even had the procedure done. It looks extremely natural.
I recently chipped my first bottom left molar while eating a gristly steak, and it chipped right on the side. Luckily it isn't painful or sensitive, so hopefully it's nothing major. I've had great luck with composite feelings, cause I chipped my front tooth when I was 10. A wild soccer ball came out of nowhere, hit my mouth, and broke my glasses. I was very mad that day... The feelings still look perfect 9 years later, so hopefully they'll last. I have a dentist appointment this week, so hopefully that chip isn't major. I also have a few cavities, which is common for red headed people to get. I brush and floss twice everyday, and I still get them somehow...
I was paddle boarding and my friend knocked me off the board and i fell right onto the paddle and broke my tooth in half
UPDATE: 10 years later my front tooth that had previously chipped when I was younger has chipped again and this time by eating some chips. I ended up just scheduling an appointment with my dentist and they took a look at it and fixed it right away and should last between 9-11 years before I’d have to do it again or do a more permanent solution to fixing it.

How long do bondings last?
My front tooth is broke almost to the gum line. All my local dentist want to do an implant or give me a partial. I cant afford the places in my area. I have bad teeth anyways. Just started major pain from an exposed nerve 2 days ago. Not having dental insurance makes my choices very limited

How long the #2 composite bonding does last ? My kid recently chipped his bottom of his front tooth. We did resin composite bonding there but I'm afraid if it falls off quickly.
Another question is if it falls again, can we do the composite bonding continuously? Or eventually he needs something more extensive procedure? I would like to avoid the 'crown or veneer" process.

I was doing a patrol at work a couple nights ago and I was talking to someone. I literally felt my tooth come off like just a TINY piece. But when I have my mouth closed it literally feels like my molar tooth is cutting my tongue.

Compulsive ice chewing can be a sign of anemia so if you have patients that chew ice, have them see their primary care doctor for a simple blood test.
Had a buddy out of the blue start chewing ice all the time. He just loved it and he didn't know why. He was slowly getting sick after a couple months and ended up finding out he was anemic. Was so strange finding out the ice chewing was a definite sign.
That is so interesting & helpful. I no longer do but I went through a period when younger of chewing ice. It was kind of compulsive! I have been anemic on & off during my life partly due to v heavy monthly's. Thanks answering a q I didn't even know I had! ;)

Hey Dr Tozzi, thanks for the upload. I have a chipped tooth on my left incisor at the bottom and it has been fixed with composite that never seems to stay put. Unfortunately when I work out, I clench my teeth when lifting. Just had it fixed a day ago and it came off. My question is, for someone like me who tends to clench their teeth, what is a more stable option? I know that I should have worn a mouth guard, but tend to forget. Thanks for any help!

Wait, it's possible to fill the tip of a tooth? Several years ago when I'd asked a dentist about some little nicks in my front teeth from chewing on my lips, they said that fillings would just fall out if they tried.
Can you chew on a surface that has been repaired that way?
A few days ago, I went to a dentist for an exam, mentioned some areas I wanted him to look closer at (since I hadn't been able to finish my last round of fillings and things from last time and wasn't sure how bad they'd gotten in six months), and when I mentioned a filling I had been told to redo (yet again), and he said he didn't see a reason for redoing it, and I said that was odd because food has been getting stuck in some kind of hole there lately, and the edge of the filling still gets caught on floss sometimes and I can even feel that slight pointy area with my tongue, he acted like he'd look to see if he could find that little place, but he instead turned on one of the drill things and loped off part of the tooth (though he didn't go deep enough to reach the filling). I knew he was acting a tad irritable throughout the appointment, but it wasn't until after that point, that he said I didn't have an appointment for an exam (even though I did make one three weeks previously on the phone, and no one said anything about some kind of mix-up when I came in). It's one of the molars, and he made mesa's out of the interior points. I think that spot may be the main chewing surface I have on that side of my mouth (and I've been avoiding chewing on the other side of my mouth for the past two years because the opposite tooth there needed a root canal treatment and crown ...which I'm trying to get finished). There's been twice so far, in the past three or four days, that I would feel a little jolt of pain when first starting to chew on something, but it usually doesn't do that. I'm not sure what to do, or even if the damage is as bad as I'm imagining. He's also the dentist that I have to see to finish the root canal treatment and crown, and he acted like he was doing me a big favor by making an appointment for me in two weeks to redo the exam better. But I'm not sure I trust him not to get upset with me if I ask him about the tooth he tore up. And if he already told me that I don't have to have anything done besides finishing the crown, then would he tell me anything different in two weeks? Last time a dentist told me I didn't have any sign of cavities, the next time I came in I needed four or five fillings and had a cavity so deep I needed a root canal treatment (and there I thought cutting back on sugar and eating more produce would be healthy). Of course I'd had no idea, since my teeth apparently only hurt if nothing is wrong with them. ...I'm sorry. I've just kind of freaking out right now.
