I learned the lyrics to every single song from this album. I don't even speak the language. An unexpected day here in the south of Chile I met a Latvian tourist. I sang Sidrabina Upe Tek. She was IMPRESSED by my perfect pronunciation. She took a pic with me and had me sing the song to her smartphone to record it. I didn't even know these songs were actually part of Latvian folklore.

I really like bands that incorporate their country's deep history and folklore. Skyforger is one of them even I've just discovered them recently. I may not know and speak the language they are singing but music surely unites us all.

I must be honest and say that I'm very passionate about the culture and history of Latvia, is unfortunately difficult to get information in my language and even in English there is very little.
on the other hand I hope someday to go to Latvia and see for myself the wonders of this land.
As a half Latvian, I can strongly recommend you travel through Latvia - not only the cities, but the countryside as well. The nature is beautiful and pristine, and Latvian people are very welcoming. Dievs sveti Latviju!

Askrinn (Pagan Black Metal) maybe there is reconstructions by playing same insturments but your rigth it is hard to dukument stuff like that.

+Steve V This specific album is an exception. They decided to it in a completely traditional style, which genre-wise was a huge change. If you want to hear the real pagan black metal of Skyforger then you should check out Semigall's Warchant, Latvian Riflemen or The Battle of Saule.
