I listened to this with my sister and she committed suicide 6 months later. I'm not saying they are connected at all. It's just a beautiful memory for me and I will love this album until I die. RIP Lucy
@@riccardocalanca4870 same here, I find peace and harmony listening to this album....
may she rest in peace, I hope she has peace now. or in better position... from 800.000 to 1million people commit suicide, double more then homicides that happen. what an sad fact... I was suicidal myself but I will NEVER do it. its an long story... I wish everybody the best there!
@@riccardocalanca4870 So true.........Agreed for sure!
:@Riccardo Calanca: Agreed. Just peaceful and introspective music here. RIP Lucy.
rest in peace
I had this album and Bergtatt on repeat during my train ride from Stockholm to Oslo about 7 years ago. And even today, everytime I listen to these albums I can remember the some of the beautiful scenery once we were out of the city. And when I arrived in Olso, I got their logo tattooed on my back.
You've been in Scandinavia 😮
Yes that is very cool. I will tell Captain Nemo to write this in his loggbok.
If you ever go to prison, you could get some titties tattooed on your back as well!
it's magical👍
The first three ULVER albums are to be put on the list of the best recordings ever, all genres and eras combined. These are things you have to listen to in your life.
The later Ulvers are a top tier music as well, although carrying entirely different vibes. In fact Garm had never lost a grip, being a beacon of the great taste in music all the way long
This album influences me and my friends for quite exactly 24 years. Life ist going on and on and still this is a instrumental truth that nobody can ever deny. Simply wonderful.
I find myself here again, in these halls of music in the night. And as you and your friends, i find it intoxicating still. 24 years that never left me. Whisky weed and great times flowing in the air, reminding me of past times. I will end my rambling with new technology 😍😊👌
Wonderful statement of yours !!!
I deny it. Very simple. Anybody can. And it won"t mean they have no musical taste.
This is my favorite Ulver album.
@Alvare Gomez NEVER ever heard of this band! but oh boy ! am I blown away or what! if u love guitar music that is TOP quality music top melody and chords and creation innovation ! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT !!!
No ... really ? All the Ulver are Kvlt
You are not alone
Not sure because of Nattens Madrigal. But check out that Ulver live video with orchestra, amazing.
You are not brutal enough. Joking heh
Brings back 2004 and my youth, when i listen it for the first time. How beautiful everything was back then
For years around 2000 this was the only album that was played for every one of our D&D session. Totally set the theme for the story and game. Amazing
nerd
@@calstonjew somewhat... and we are still playing and Ulver is still played
Its always nice to hear what someone can do when they put 100% of their heart into music!
Listened to this 23 years ago. Checking out again. Still works 😋
25 years or 20 of listening to metal and I somehow managed to never listen to Ulver until now. Amazing work.
This album was the first dark folk album i listened to, a whole new level of music experience opened up to me :)

Made a playlist for this special subgenre - anything to add which I might haven't heard of yet?
@@Cineastre your list is missing ainulindale!
I actually think this might be the first Dark Folk album.
Hitting "Play" on this video is the equivalent of casting a spell on yourself.
E hhh
clicking play means: u will stick from beginning to the end of this album ! I LOVE IT so much!

Impossible to say how this album had an influence on me. One of the best record ever
Absolutely amazing. I take this with me when I'm camping in the woods and listen to it by the fire.
perfect.
Fuzzy little man peach
This is literally the music I've been searching for. Powerful chants with a sound that only comes from the likes of Scandinavia, dark, story telling nylon string acoustics. Very satisfied sitting here reading my book. And now, as I click on the box to post a comment, my phone cuts it off to open the comment screen!
So a good day🤗
maybe you already know this but EMPYRIUM " Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays" should be your cup of tea
Beautiful would be an understatement
I will never get tired of listening to this album ❤
This album is amazing, can't stop to listen it.
Love the entire album. Excellent musicians.
one of a handful of bands that seems to speak to my essential self... even in the grip of panic disorder ulver gives me peace and strength... i hope i can leave a work of art to help ppl in this way before i go
Ulver takes me back to the mountain. This is so beautiful.Thanks.
my favorite recording EVER.
I remember listening to this all the time back in the 90's, such a great record.
I used to get a train home from college and for half of the journey it just went through wooded areas. Late summer/early autumn I'd just lay against the window staring up through the trees listening to this album on repeat every time.
I don't think there's any music more relaxing than this album to be honest.
+maurauth I believe you can find it. Though this one album's quality and pureness is quite damn much astounding. Just look for those bands more strongly linked with nature. Those who breathe that spirit more.
for example if you don't know Wardruna it's about time to know it
StealerAG I'll check them out, the only other album I've found that's similar is Vàli - Skogslandskap but it seems a bit too energetic.
Best album of all time, hands down!!!
Such a beautiful album.. I used to spend so many nights smoking weed and playing computer chess late at night with headphones jamming to this album.. good times :)
This and Fjelltronen are perfect autumn albums, many memories.
Check „The Hallowing of Heirdom” by Winterfylleth.
Masterpiece is an understatement! 🤘🏻
evokes the sadness of a soul blackened by the cry of melancholy, sings with eloquent despair, the chronicle of a death announced by the voices of a singer experienced in the secrets whispered by grave stones within deep forests, where only moss knows where the decline of simple life hides, austere abode of incarnate death, the miserable life inspires indifference when listening to the true tragedy that ulver narrates in this pious chapter. + Kveldssanger + Songs of the night.

When I listen to this album it only kind of hurts when I piss.
@@itnahs3791 Thanks man, I've been trying a keto diet and I really think it's working pretty well.
I always knew about Ulver, but I had mainly known them from Bergtatt, and i thought "yeah, they're quite nice..."
But then I watched the well done documentary Until The Light Takes Us ( /watch?v=0l5Hbu_Fm9s ) and came across Kledt I Nattens Farger I was mesmerized. When I listened to this album I was blown away.
Remember when I used to listen to this album when I was studying for school. Now, I listen to this album, while I prepare myself for university exams. Time goes by.
I remember listening to this album when I was studying 1st degree of University and now I´m working with this same album... I´m 40 y.o.... so, be sure you will be listening to this for quite more years!
I thought you’d say “now, I listen to it when I put my kids to sleep”.. nevermind lol

Great album for writing... Simply beautiful and enthralling...
Captivé, je le suis toujours à l'écoute de ces mélodies et chants menant parfois presque jusqu’au front. Ce qu'ils font maintenant est tout autre, mais je trouve cela très réussi. Leur évolution mérite oreille attentive.
Awesome album. Loved it when it came out and just a few days since I heard it. Still play it quite often!
Hauntingly beautiful Norse bedtime lullaby. Takk to Ulver
& Garm! Cheers.
I've been looking for something like "Forlorn in Silence" and in the comment section, I saw some people recommending this whole album by Ulver. I've listened to a lot from them to this today, but I never heard of this album. Being able to listen to Kveldssanger is such an eccentric experience and I enjoyed every second of it. Props to the man who uploaded this mystic gem to TH-cam.
Try “The Hallowing of Heirdom” by Winterfylleth as well.
Forlorn in Silence Is one of the most beautiful songs ever!
Expected black metal, was disappointed at first, but ended up satisfied.
this is as black metal as it gets my guy
Beautiful!
finally found that amazing Album on utube...i'm stunned listening to the sounds again. what a masterpiece. ulvesblakk... after 20yrs still sending chills down my spine. ty for uploading
This is epic sublime!! Monumental recording..

Mesmerizing album. 🖤

Darkly beautiful and sombre
Commenting again: Masterpiece!

i ahte this kind of tracklist,u know the length of a song, not where to go to listen it. find this sad, lots of people do this. but still,THX FOR THE UPLOAD,thats fkin awesome !!! glad to see there's still hope in humanity
Just buy it and don't complain about it, It's free!!!
Tracklist updated :)
I really love this record. I definitely find myself coming back to this all the time. If anyone knows of other great music like this outside of the metal genre they would like to suggest, I'd be really grateful. I find it can be hard to get to the good stuff without someone to at least point you in the general area of the right direction. Ideally, I wish I knew the sort of records that influenced them to make this. Such an interesting and eclectic band...
Patrick, try out Empyrium, Vali or Nebelung.
Empyrium I do know, and I really enjoy them as well. Will have to look into the other two though! Thank you SilesianWoods
Musk Ox has a new album that is absolutely fantastic.
check out the band Neun Welten. I assure you, you will fall in love.
Nick Kelly this. very beautiful atmospheric instrumental folk. the tracks are much longer. 3 around 10mins and 2 around 17mins but well worth a listen.
more emphasis seems to be on the cello and violin than the guitar, though that may just be the way its mixed
belleza pura perfeccion total
Your exceptional taste in music has gained you a subscription, birds of feather flock together.
Beautiful album
Geat neo-folk. I love this album
Zeitgeist6 Great even
My bedtime album!
Go to bed 😚
Magnifico demais !!
It's just beautiful , although I live in a warm place , and I have to travel one hour to get to a cool place , it makes me feel like I live out cold , it's beautiful , it's cold , it's magic , it's dark , reminds me biting cold and rugged forest
serenidad para mi alma
Always is very exquisite to listen this album, makes me feel the sensation of being inside of the woods very late at night under the moonlight.
the greatest campfire album ever
Naturmystikk
I’ve only discovered Ulver now, Bergtatt is definitely up there with the best albums like Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and Master Of Puppets
the vocals took a little while to get used to but now the whole album seems perfect. a worthy follow up to the brilliant bergtatt
Wonderful song
Amo amo amo
This folk stuff is pretty.
Masterpiece!! Sublime
Ulver could make a new album like this because this one fantastic.
Haavard. Pre order on bandcamp. Releases November.
I like this a lot
Ulver ❤
Ord es una belleza
ulver started as metalheads.-they expanded and are in fact prog rock, listen to the consert in oslo opera in 2012
Molto bello questo album
Still love this
The best part of the album starts at 17:05
My favorite part as well. It reminds me of L.O.Z. Wind waker for some reason
10:48
I love the finger slides at 28:40.
The best...
Music for Wolves.
Perfect album for a snowy winter in Lake Tahoe
Classic
my full moon on all night´s!!! thanks GARM!
Greatness
Just so you know, this is now my go to soundtrack while me and a buddy play UnEpic....FIRST =p
❤❤❤❤❤
Wow I didn't know ulver made ambiant music. Great
They only made 3 black metal albums, and a ton of experimental stuff
@@toastyidk.1176 *two black metal albums
this was introduced to me by an english friend, almost twenty years ago... mögen die Wölfe zurück kommen.
Desolate beauty
I want it....i must get it
What classic guitar would sound like this? the sound is very clean and punchy. And i guess it was recorded directly in the mixer?
10/10
Cool down, blud. She's gone....
11. Utreise 22:59
If SIgur Ros went and hung out with Roger Waters era Pink Floyd for a week: This.
lel wtf
I love Empyrium and Ulver's acoustic stuff. I want to like the heavier black metal stuff but the harsh vocals are something I just can't get into. This soft but dark and brooding composition is exactly the rhythm and frequency of my soul. It's fundamentally lonely but beautiful.
this is also black metal
@@MoChiptuneTrue I suppose. And I find myself slowly growing to like the darker stuff. My life has been quite difficult in numerous ways: the death of a child, my family disowning me over religious/political/identitarian nonsense, a great deal of financial stress from an abusive ex, etc. I think sombre themes just make sense to me for I am surrounded by sombre events.
east of the sun and west of the moon
@@Finngrinder stfu
it's kind of like old opeth if they only used acoustic guitars
Honestly think the first two Opeth albums had the same kinda atmosphere as Bergtatt
#2021
So this is who Woods of Ypres got their melodic side from!
