      Hi Mark, yes mate it really is nice. The fullframe sensor makes a big difference. Have you fancied or got one.

    Great review and images. So nice to see a company move away from 3.76 micron pixels in a full frame sensor. Some will complain of undersampling but just look at those images, stunning. Always another thing to dream about!

    • @Astrobloke
      @Astrobloke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. It is good to see a sensor with difference and I really like the larger pixels. As for the undersampling, well you can always drizzle....whats good for Hubble and NASA is surely ok for us too.
      I think this hobby will keep innovating and coming out with new gear to tempt us all.

      Thank you Ian. The camera really pulled out a lot of details, the stars got very bloated as conditions were not perfect with a lot of thin high cloud. But even though without perfect conditions this camera rocked. Is this a target you have tried?

    Looks like a beast of a camera. If I ever progress from DSLR, I think a OSC is the best match to my patience threshold!! Great review, Glenn.

    • @Astrobloke
      @Astrobloke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cooled OSC is a good step and definitely simpler than mono in that you won't need multiple filters, filterwheel and electronic focusers.
      The 24CFX certainly is an impressive spec camera. Thanks for watching

    Looks like the camera for me, large pixels just the job. Just retired last week yep I’ve taken the red pill and now been flushed into the real world, but may have to do the odd contract to afford extra Astro gear. Hope alls well with you, hoping for clear skies and a brighter future for all… Just a quick thing I’ve started some retro audio restoration so first project was an early 80 s Sharp VZ-3000 upright linear that plays both sides of lp, cost me £100 original speakers I’ve re conned etc, all internally restored re belted caps etc, could potentially fetch £6to800, just another hobby apart from my T2 Bus and some sea fishing…Atb Tom.

      All good here but the weather is still very challenging especially for astro.
      Its good to have lots of hobbies, my deck is an old 1980's Rega Planer3 although its like Triggers broom in that I have basically changed every part. Really enjoyed upgrading it and getting the best out of it. Hopefully some clear skies soon. G

    Great video and images Glenn. It's certainly given me food for thought, I have a new scope coming and need to order a new camera for it. I've always used ZWO cameras and have been very happy with them, but they are very expensive so maybe it's time to try something else! FLO have some good discounts just now on ZWO cameras but the 24CFX is still significantly cheaper than the equivalent ASI2400MC-Pro. The difference in the RRP between the two cameras is actually quite astonishing!

    • @Astrobloke
      @Astrobloke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Astrobloke It's a StellaLyra 12" Truss Tube Ritchey-Chrétien. I'm mainly a widefield imager but want something with a longer focal length to capture galaxies and smaller nebulae. Starting to question my sanity though as I have recently finished a widefield dual StellaMira Apo rig that still hasn't seen first light due to the awful weather we've been having!

    Awesome vid Glenn!👍I really appreciated seeing what Sharpcap can do.👍Lovely images too...and as you point out...really vivid star colours from the camera!👍A few questions...
    (1) Could you please kindly share the numbers & lengths of sub-exposures for the photos you took showed in the vid? Thank you!
    (2) Do you see any artifacts, limitations or other disadvantages in practice that can be attributed to the camera being a 14 bit system, rather than 16 bit?
    (3) Will you be sharing more analysis/feedback re the Altair RGB filter? It seemd to provide a darker background, as well as a different colour balance, but I'm not sure if the latter was better or worse.

    • @Astrobloke
      @Astrobloke  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Derek and thank you for watching and commenting.
      I'll get back to you with the acquisition details. These images have been taken over a long time so will need to go back and work it out.
      To be honest the camera being 14bit did not seem to be lacking anywhere and I was not aware of any artifacts or clear disadvantages.
      I will be doing a full review on the Tri TGB filter but it is still being developed as Altair want it to be as good as it can be. As soon as they have it finalised I will do some tests and report back on its performance but its looking very promising. The final images have been edited of course and some of that process has not been easy as I have not always had ideal data due to bad seeing or lack of acquisition time. I hope to have better images to share for the final review. Clear skies
