I think the importance of this remaster can't be understated. It came out on console only in 2002 and now is on PC for the first time. It opens the door for other classic games to eventually come to PC for the first time. Not just for Star Wars, but for other IPs as well.

I honestly wish they did that, and replaced jangos blasters but the fact the skin is even in the game is nice in of itself but who knows maybe aspyr may give the boba fett skin his blaster carbine

One of few Star Wars games I didn’t get to play growing up because my family never had a GameCube. Playing it for the first time now and it’s amazing and I’m not just saying that because Jango Fett is one of my favorite characters in Star Wars. Cool to see that they have some of the comic in the game too.

Bounty Hunter was foundational to my love for mandalorians in both the classic legends canon as well as the moden canpn. I’m also glad that this game’s prequel comic, Jango Fett: Open Seasons, was referenced in Mandalorian season 2; whoever slipped that detail into Boba’s chaincode deserves all of the kudos from classic mando fans, who fell in love with the legends iteration if the culture like myself. Makes Bounty Hunter feel like it could be applicable to both canons, and may as well in my book. Glad to see this game getting some much-needed and deserved love
I have loved this game since I got it for Christmas the year it came out. And using the GameCube version as the base was a rare smart move & W for Aspyr it sounds like. Can’t wait to be the best Fett in game form again this weekend.
Who needs Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws when a remaster of Star Wars Bounty Hunter is the superior game. Besides, Jango Fett has always been a badass and only a top tier Jedi Master could take him down.
I remember going to bed at 20:00 in the evening and getting back up at 02:00 in the morning to play Bounty Hunter in secret before school on the GameCube. My father was a massive Star Wars fan, so he had all the cool games. He never played Bounty Hunter though, always glued to playing X-Wing with a joystick 😄. Good times
Star Wars is like...frustrating now days. I want to be excited for Star Wars the way I used to be, but what Disney has done to it...I am not. I do not like most Disney Star Wars and I am so tired fo being told that I am a bigot for thinking something like the Acolyte has bad writing...which it absolutely does. Then I go back and watch the original trilogy or play a game like this. KOTOR or Jedi Knight and I am like "Oh yeah. That's why I love Star Wars so much" I am glad this is easier to access for a new audience. Now here's hoping Nightdive eventually gives Dark Forces 2 a remaster. Everything they do is top tier and they would do it justice
So far there is only one thing I am disappointed by in this remaster, that Aspyr didn't update Jango's blaster pistols with their correct sound used in the movie. Kind of a missed opportunity there.
I love your philosophy on the Legend Universe separate to not be messed with. I'm an OLD fan and began to let go of my hate when Dark Forces came out. Now instead of screaming obscenities my little one and I are enjoying the old games and parts that really left an impression on me.
Also I'm still bitter the originally announced Prey 2 was cancelled. The 2017 game was awesome, but it wasn't the Bounty Hunting simulator I was promised.

No need as it already has an easy to install fan remaster of good quality. Literally has a full on installer now and runs on a source port so it runs buttery smooth.

There's pluses and minuses imo, I like what they expanded upon with Mandolorians, and it's not like legends didn't have it's faults, so instead of insulting a large part of the sw fanbase, just please try to open up a little to the nice parts of disney SW like most of the animated shows, rogue one, and the Jedi videogame series. I'm truly trying to say this in the most respectful way possible, and it's not like I don't understand why you could be rightfully mad at disney. So, please if you even see this comment or decide to respond to it, I'd like it to be a nice respectful civilized debate.

In hindsight, I'm glad Disney seperated Legends/EU from the disney canon. It means the best parts of pre-disney content can be left alone and untarnished. The fake news surrounding star wars and star wars fans is still annoying though.
Your time is better spent putting what you want to see into the world than complaining about what you don't want to see. It's basically been my mantra for all my creativity but especially youtube. Played through chapter 4 last night (did not have it in me to play the Tatooine levels at 3am). Agreed with pretty much everything here. This is one of my favorite games of all time and agreed that this is the best way to play it. Not to be *that* guy but I've noticed every reviewer of both versions miss this -- the improved pause weapon select actually is in the original. Just gotta hold the circle button for a sec, and it'll pause combat and bring up the same select screen as long as its held! Changed my life when I found that as a kid lol

I'm not sure if I'll be able to articulate it, and I am biased, having seen the Prequels in theaters. But I think, to my understanding, the Prequels opened a lot more Extra-Universe doors (Possibly Mediclorians being the main Shutting of doors) in that everything unexplained was rich. Whereas the Sequel trilogy focused on Mystery Boxes with no answer. I KNOW, with the Prequels, I can find a minor side character, or on-screen screwdriver, and see (albeit after the fact, and MASSIVELY inconsequential) spec sheets, backstory, ect. With the sequels I got the feeling that not only was nothing planned, their new Overlords wouldn't allow for ANY explanation or expansion without it being significant to the new Canon. It betrays the idea of all film being a collaborative project.
To me, i believe that both sides of the franchise did it right in some way, I love the way that disney isnt going over the top with how powerful the force is yet still making it look incredible, and I also love the way the timeline of events come together, Old republic, high republic, republic, empire, new republic, and finally first order (Time felt too fast in legends). Yet it has its faults that legends did not have, it lacks charm at times and it seems to me like the ideas they introduce into the lore feel like pieces in a tight puzzle barely fitting into a coherent timeline. P.S. Though the acolyte did have a lot of faults, you'll be happy to know that they brought some elements from legends back. - DockOkk, that one guy that will reject someone if they don't like SW (I'm not kidding, I'd do it in a heartbeat)

I had a similar experience with star wars as you and I'll admit that I was put off by some of your attitude in you old video. But I understood where that came from as an old Star Wars/Trek fan. I understood the passion. When Disney took over and pushed the old EU aside I lost interest in the franchise the same way. Then for whatever reason, after a couple of years I reread the Thrawn trilogy and I remembered what it was that I loved so much about the EU. I might not like a lot of what Disney has brought to the table, I fully understand that legends and older star wars was not 'destroyed' or deleted, it is all still there to explore, experience and enjoy. I do also agree that by separating the canon's they have incidentally protected it. Which has turned out to be for the better/
I feel like the only other two games in the star wars franchise that I'd absolutely love to see on modern pcs are absolutely Rouge Squadrons 2 and 3, and Obi-Wan. I beg. It's needed.
I had the very same "return to Star Wars" as you described, except that the game that brought me back was KOTOR, which I decided to replay at the end of last year.
I'm with you. I'm as old as Star Wars and when the writing/direction went the way it did, and then being lambasted for it, I was pissed. It was Dark Forces that brought me back to the fun Star Wars, caused me to get the Legend Universe novels, and eventually buy this when it came out. I still have my GC and original copy also.
I still have the OG Bounty Hunter for PS2, disc with the limited edition box art... but THAT SAID, the actual "gameplay" felt way too stiff to really sell me on the whole power fantasy of stepping into Fett's sabatons, ESPECIALLY the jetpack. Absolutely awesome premise, wish someone could "do that but better". As for your personal context, I admire your self-awareness against hypocrisy. The item selection displayed around 11:00 was always in the original, and aside form (arguably too subtle) graphic changes, it doesn't look (OR FEEL) very different from the way I remember it.
Im mad at myself for commenting again so I'll make it short, I believe the super near death experience and time with the somewhat peaceful tribe of sand people gave boba a new look at life, valuing life more than ever before. Thats what I took away from it at least.
I had this on Gamecube back when it came out. This was really the golden age of SW's EU. Most (if not all) of these games were overseen by Lucas and the lore added to the growing library of books, graphic novels, and the prequels. Significantly better time to be a SW than today. For as much as everyone whined about the prequels and the re-re-re-edits of the OG trilogy, SW was objectively better in the hands of George Lucas than Kathleen Kennedy. Then again, people asked for this. Between petitions to take the trilogy away from GL and outrage over the prequels, I'm sure he'd had enough and decided to cash out while he still could.

You just had to press the Down button on the D-Pad to bring it up and pause the game to select the weapon. 13:01 The Scan visor also had its own dedicated button before, it was the Up button on the D-Pad. 17:38 I disagree, the original Battlefront games are the most important Star Wars games ever cause not only did they used to be the best selling Star Wars games of all time, but they also covered all the eras of Star Wars that satisfied every Star Wars fan that exists and remained among the most played and beloved SW games of all time. Bounty Hunter is pretty good, but the Battlefront games (especially Battlefront 2) are the most important SW games, and when Aspyr f***ed up those games, they will not get a win from me that easily just cause they did an alright HD port of Bounty Hunter, if anything they could have done way more to address the major issues with this game, but they didn't, they left it nearly the same as it was before.
From what I understand, Disney doesn't get any of the money. I thought developers paid for a license to release the games and then kept the profits. Meaning Disney won't see your money if you buy these.
They charged 30 for Dark Forces, 20 is nothing for a game these days so I don't think the age really matters because good luck finding damn near any game for under that, unless you're buying Ubisoft slop during one of their sales.
In terms of Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan and a proper truly competent touched up port of KOTOR 1 & 2. Honestly I'd prefer a good studio just finish KOTOR 2 correctly and release it as a full remaster.

Personally, my heart was broken so many times by Lucas retconning stuff I loved (people forget how the prequels retconned Heir of the Empire trilogy and other novels, or how Clone Wars cartoon retconned Republic Commando novel series), that Disney retconning stuff did not affect me that much. I think it has always been fine to voice dissatisfaction with Star Wars, and you and some other people do it in logical, structured way. Sadly, your voices are drowned by really bad criticism and fake controversy. As far as I know this wasn't upscaled with AI. Even the cutscenes were just upscaled and visually filtered. I am not aware of any ai usage involved with this remaster. Has that been revealed?
Except Aspyr already kinda did that for Republic Commando, with it currently released on Switch and PS4, and even had a physical release of those two ports done by THQ Nordic.

I'll admit I never played the original but since theyve made a new control scheme and adjusted the difficulty then I may give it a try
Updated controls and weapon selection would make me give this remaster a chance even though I have a digital copy of the previous modern port.

I played it back in 2002 on the PS2. This rerelease sort of remaster is the superior way to play it.
If im not mistaken, that weapon selection feature was present in the original version of the game.

Legends is canon in my book and disneys Star Wars is their own spin off

I feel like the only other two games in the star wars franchise that I'd absolutely love to see on modern pcs are absolutely Rouge Squadrons 2 and 3, and Obi-Wan. I beg. It's needed.
I had the very same "return to Star Wars" as you described, except that the game that brought me back was KOTOR, which I decided to replay at the end of last year.

I'm with you. I'm as old as Star Wars and when the writing/direction went the way it did, and then being lambasted for it, I was pissed. It was Dark Forces that brought me back to the fun Star Wars, caused me to get the Legend Universe novels, and eventually buy this when it came out. I still have my GC and original copy also.
I still have the OG Bounty Hunter for PS2, disc with the limited edition box art...
but THAT SAID, the actual "gameplay" felt way too stiff to really sell me on the whole power fantasy of stepping into Fett's sabatons, ESPECIALLY the jetpack. Absolutely awesome premise, wish someone could "do that but better".

The item selection displayed around 11:00 was always in the original, and aside form (arguably too subtle) graphic changes, it doesn't look (OR FEEL) very different from the way I remember it.

The new star wars legends content is very much appriciated. If Disney happens to create or add more content to legends, that would be cool.
Truly the only thing that is important is if they fixed the camera controls or not. I do not need it nor want it to be inverted.
Im mad at myself for commenting again so I'll make it short, I believe the super near death experience and time with the somewhat peaceful tribe of sand people gave boba a new look at life, valuing life more than ever before. Thats what I took away from it at least.

I had this on Gamecube back when it came out. This was really the golden age of SW's EU. Most (if not all) of these games were overseen by Lucas and the lore added to the growing library of books, graphic novels, and the prequels.
Significantly better time to be a SW than today. For as much as everyone whined about the prequels and the re-re-re-edits of the OG trilogy, SW was objectively better in the hands of George Lucas than Kathleen Kennedy. Then again, people asked for this. Between petitions to take the trilogy away from GL and outrage over the prequels, I'm sure he'd had enough and decided to cash out while he still could.
10:50 The feature to pull up the better intuitive weapon select screen has been there since the original game. You just had to press the Down button on the D-Pad to bring it up and pause the game to select the weapon.
13:01 The Scan visor also had its own dedicated button before, it was the Up button on the D-Pad.
17:38 I disagree, the original Battlefront games are the most important Star Wars games ever cause not only did they used to be the best selling Star Wars games of all time, but they also covered all the eras of Star Wars that satisfied every Star Wars fan that exists and remained among the most played and beloved SW games of all time. Bounty Hunter is pretty good, but the Battlefront games (especially Battlefront 2) are the most important SW games, and when Aspyr f***ed up those games, they will not get a win from me that easily just cause they did an alright HD port of Bounty Hunter, if anything they could have done way more to address the major issues with this game, but they didn't, they left it nearly the same as it was before.
Can you turn off the slow down when you use the visor? Also I think the way to open the menu to swap the weapons was in the OG as well by the way.

From what I understand, Disney doesn't get any of the money. I thought developers paid for a license to release the games and then kept the profits. Meaning Disney won't see your money if you buy these.

They should've added an infinite lives mode cause this game was so hard when I was 9 year's old back in 2002 and it's still hard as HELL today!

They charged 30 for Dark Forces, 20 is nothing for a game these days so I don't think the age really matters because good luck finding damn near any game for under that, unless you're buying Ubisoft slop during one of their sales.

In terms of Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan and a proper truly competent touched up port of KOTOR 1 & 2.
Honestly I'd prefer a good studio just finish KOTOR 2 correctly and release it as a full remaster.

EU isn't really completed unless you stop reading after the NJO and even then there are plenty of the story threards that are unfinished.
Always disappointing to watch a video focusing on a classic star wars game and the first main segment focuses on Disney and their handling of Star Wars. Not why I'm here, I don't want to be thinking about that. Legends still exists in my heart.
Personally, my heart was broken so many times by Lucas retconning stuff I loved (people forget how the prequels retconned Heir of the Empire trilogy and other novels, or how Clone Wars cartoon retconned Republic Commando novel series), that Disney retconning stuff did not affect me that much.
I think it has always been fine to voice dissatisfaction with Star Wars, and you and some other people do it in logical, structured way. Sadly, your voices are drowned by really bad criticism and fake controversy. Both sides - Disney haters and lovers, troll each other and everyone around, so that common sense people - such as yourself - are left unheard and feel treated unfairly.
