Most of the commentators seem to view this as a confirmation of their views of religion.
I think the message was about not letting religiosity get in the way of faith.
His looking at his past “accomplishments”(the pictures, the statue he carved) indicates a religious mindset; look at what I have done. Yet he was miserable & the church looked like there were no parishioners. He was stuck.
His experience with the golden rooster freed him to remember what true faith is about & allowed him to literally continue his journey.

Sometimes I get the impression that there isn't anything truly original out there anymore, that it wouldn't be possible for any piece of art to catch and keep my attention - especially films. And then, suddenly, after casually scrolling through my algorithm-dependent feed, my eyes catch a glimpse of this thumbnail. "Funny"?, I thought. This has to be either unusually good - or, which I thought more probable - excessively bad. I gave it a go, ans then... It genuinely took me by surprise! Melancholy, horror, suspense, sorrow, gratefulness, peaceful tranquility - what an atmosphere! 15 minutes just flew by - but I didn't want it to end! This worked so well! From the very beginning I knew I wouldn't regret spending my time with this gem.
Such a plethora of various creative techniques - I'm rather fond of the animations in the stained glass-window (or whatever you call it in English) - and beautiful shots (11:40 !), this incredible attention to detail, all this - sometimes quite cyrptic - symbolism - absolutely stunning! In addition, I generally like short films which work on a nonverbal basis - for certain genres at least, 'cause then there is room for the visual and other auditory stuff to carry the narrative and convey the message. The sound effects truly impressed me, I am so glad you didn't exaggerate the use of music.
The protagonist seemed to experience a sort of - alcohol and isolation induced? - delirium. I felt like it was meant to portray this sense of transcendence, which worked quite well. It felt like a completely unique take on this alter ego concept à la Jekyll and Hyde or The Picture of Dorian Gray, for instance (ok, the connection is rather remote, but still... ) I was so glad the character found a way out of his "damnation".
You got me thouroughly hooked - emotionally as well as intellectually. I can't imagine how much time you invested for this, but the result is absolutely worth it! It certainly had an impact on me, a truly unique, personal expérience - I won't forget it.
There is certainly so much more to say concerning the excellent cinematography, the psycholgical level, references, how one could interpret the symbols/metaphors etc... But my physical abilities to type seem to decrease - slowly but surely.
So, how can I end this mess? Uhm... You seem to be enormously talented and passionate artists - never lose faith (!) in your work! I truly appreciate it!

Noticeable, the imaginary evil rooster (as the real one was thrown to the tree) was his own demons, trying to take away his liberty and finally taking his place. And that's what happens in real life. Once he found the golden rooster to show him the direction, he took ownership of his life again. Now, religiously inclined people will tend to interpret this meeting as a mystical one, according to their faith. It's a valid point of view based on their belief systems. Some of us instead may interpret as a symbol of the integration of his self, accordingly to some model of the mind we have. In the end, is a message of hope for those who are willing to confront their shadows.

Confronted by his own demonic self made him question his faith in God, but by destroying his demons( insincerity and pretentious life) he discovered his angelic purity once again. Given a second chance to live,he chose to live life with joy, filled with the happiness of creation because when he experienced death ,he discovered there is a higher purpose of creativity:first know and love yourself, despite the flaws in you,you are deeply loved. love is the key to understanding why God created the universes. Thanks for sharing this thought provoking, didactic and philosophical animation😊

This is truly a beautiful story in every sense, and you can see how hard the creators tried on this work. The photorealistic visual style, made with a mixture of computer graphics and puppet animation, as well as a cautionary tale about a priest experiencing a crisis of faith, make this creation admire. The meaning for me is this: Galations 6:3 kjv - For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. The priest was boasting his "worldly" accomplishments in the faith with the titles from popes, materialist things, etc., so much so that he worshiped himself over God (hence the chicken showing the man to change the statue from Jesus to himself) In the end the priest received a bit of wisdom, and knew he had more to learn about God and true faith and understanding prompting him to adventure out to learn more about the teachings from the Word and not from the "World".

Not the building, the things inside that building , the books etc.
+ go forward. Don't hang on to what you did in the past, however much it mattered then.

To a Catholic, the chime of the bell would recall Transubstantiation (conversion the Eucharistic elements into the actual body and blood of Christ). As this priest puts the golden feather into his breast pocket, there is a chime and then his soul is one with the Universe. When his soul returns to his body, it is renewed with wonder and he embarks on a new journey, now with Christ in his breast. Priests are people just like us all. They can be subject to loneliness, self-doubt, shame and the need for reassurance. The rooster was the worst parts of himself, and once it was destroyed he could begin his journey with Christ.

Life is a balance. Extremism is not fruitful. Faith should aid you through life, not be an obstacle to your dreams. To me, I was the other way around. I followed my heart and rejected the message of responsibility and discipline and had an empty hole in my heart. I only existed to please others and my desires. But then I learned how to use my faith to understand myself even more and have a purpose and drive than living solely for my desires.

    • @guitarszen

You still haven't learn. Faith, like hope, is for the weak and foolish that use them as a crutch to lean on rather than waking up and just living.

    • @sciencedavedunning3415
      @sciencedavedunning3415 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

There is nothing unhealthy about faith in oneself. If you have that faith, you certainly don't need a religious cult. Christianity doesn't want you to have faith in yourself. " You're sinful. You can't accomplish anything without Jesus. " It's nothing but a placebo at best, a murderous mob at worst. Taoism is all about sentience, self knowledge, knowing your darker side so it doesn't get the better of you. Christianity tells you what to think, know, and believe. Taoism challenges you to think, reason out the knowledge of your own truths, and blindly believe nothing.
