- Lufthansa is banning AirTags in checked-in baggage. Does this mean that all Bluetooth devices will be banned also? According to FAA (www.faa.gov/ha...) "Most consumer personal electronic devices containing batteries are allowed in carry-on and checked baggage... This covers typical dry cell batteries and lithium metal and lithium-ion batteries for consumer electronics (AA, AAA, C, D, button cell, camera batteries, laptop batteries, etc.)"
So it seems like Lufthansa is not prohibiting the AirTag in checked luggage due to the battery. But rather the case that the AirTag is a transmitting device. If that is the case, the same AirTag that is kept in the airplane cabin should be prohibited as well. And the same should be the case for AirPods and other wireless headphones and earbuds.
I lost my checked baggage 2 times during the same 7-day trip to Lisbon, Portugal. And without the AirTag I would never have gotten my suitcase back!

This sounds more like Lufthansa don't want the embarrassment of people finding bags that they can't find, rather than any issue with Bluetooth or air tags.
It sure does…
Agreed. I spent the summer flying around Europe. The only airline I had trouble with was Air France arriving at orly. The ENTIRE aircraft’s bags went missing. I went to the baggage office and showed them EXACTLY where the bags were , delivered to the wrong terminal. I suspect this was some form of strike action , you know the French. The guy was obviously embarrassed
there should be a law against "embarrassment policies" for all kinds of organizations, including the government.
EXACTLY
UPDATE! "“These devices are allowed on Lufthansa flights,” Lufthansa concluded" 😎
Lufthansa reversed this policy.
Great video!
This is exactly why they don’t want airtags - cuz passengers are knowing too much lol.
Airlines losing luggages is a common thing. They’ll probably just let the insurance company handle it because it is too much hassle finding a single luggage out of nowhere. They’ve gotten away with it many times, but now airtags are giving them trouble. Think about it, if 5 passengers came up and they each said they have a macbook in their luggage - it’ll get complicated real fast. So it’s easier to make a bullshit bluetooth story.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. So what if we instead leave the AirPods Pro 2 case in the suitcase instead 😎
Then Let say if the company or they employees is do something bad for our luggage like stealing or damage our luggage for reasons and no reason then how we feel? I do agree with you about people will do scam but how about people really missing they luggage does air tag very helpful?
@@MK-Tech hahahha that works as well
@@zackhaziq1741 I think it will probably be more helpful.
This story has nothing to do with airlines, but it could illustrate the chances. Over 10 years ago I went to Berlin for a trade show. While I was outside, some people broke into my apartment, they took some of my stuff including my ipod/laptop/gameboy advance (yes it was a long time ago). We reported to the police and when they came - we just told them we were robbed and couldn’t give them any details.
Looking back, if we had these types of technology back then, we could have given the police a lead to follow. So I would say it would still be pretty good to pop one in the bag.
@@jacksuwanpradit6992 Yes i agree with with you bro it really help us
I just saw your channel for the first time, so underrated! Keep up the great content :)

I'd like to see them find it
Me too
Eh...feels like a Lufthansa thing. Other airlines are doing the opposite and prepping their IFE systems to accommodate Bluetooth headsets. I think United has come a long way with this and I believe Delta and some Asian airlines are also working on it (of course most continental European flights don't carry IFE's though). I love Lufthansa professionalism, cleanliness and aire of business savvy, but customer service is not their fortay (at all), in my opinion.
… the question is what the actual purpose is… 🫣
@@MK-Tech Sorry to be unclear, though my point; none. Just an irrational Lufthansa thing, to have "rules" in place.
I know you are looking for a more scientific answer, but if you look at what other airlines are doing, it is a just a rule created in the LH corporate office. You may not ever find an answer. The reason why I involved other airlines was because you feared it would be the end of airtags and Bluetooth headsets, but based on the evidence I don't foresee that a concern.
@@DavidHabnit i definitely got your point :) it was just more an open question “the actual reason” why Lufthansa is doing this :)
The whole putting your devices in "airplane mode" is a joke and just part of the "Security" act that the TSA and FAA puts on.
If your little cellphone's power output is going to jam the same freq that the plane is using, then the airplane is faulty.....
I have in the back of my head a memory that it’s more about the issues it’s causing on the ground for the cellphone networks when the phones are switching cellphone towers rapidly. Maybe something I need to look into in a future video 🫣
It's to Lufthansa's advantage to allow these tags ,as they will end up paying a lot less for lost luggage when their system or employees fail to load your luggage on the correct flight .
I don't understand, if I put an airtag inside my baggage.... how do they know?
They have luckily taken back this idea...
@@MK-Tech yea I asking how they would know, I think one of the US carrier, I think United do ban it.
Do AirPods work the same way as the tags? Can they be tracked?
Yes they can.
AirTags are not prohibited:
Thanks for sharing!
There have indeed been many different messages the last days. Especially after it was first announced.
So long lufthanza... never flew with you never will now,
Thanks for sharing
If TX is forbidden use RFID blocking cases.
You can wonder what the real purpose is..🫣
@@MK-Tech what if you use other courier service just to send the docking luggage, would be more expensive?
@@Joe3D would be more expensive
They shouldn’t ban such things should government forbid them to make unreasonable bans
Luckily they have withdrawn this statement!
Can’t lie about the location of your bags.
You can track your airpods as if they were airtags. So maybe you should buy a lot of airpods instead to be legal. 😹😹😹
Yes you can. Especially with the new AirPods Pro gen 2 that has the U1 chip.
If you would have put a name tag on it, it should not have been unknown bag. And it looks like you have a name tag....
The world of airliners… it was all very odd and strange. Due to a canceled initial flight the baggage wasn’t re-connected to us and the new flight and apparently they did not get any match in their system when it was searched for.
And we did a missed baggage report at the airport. But apparently that need to be done online in order for it to go into the world trace system. So it never showed up in the missing baggage tracing system either.
Mind blowing how badly it worked.
You find it easy way
Who cares, this can't be policed 😂
And now they have changed their mind! 🥳
@@MK-Tech Indeed but who cares? They will lose your bag, you will tell them where it is and they will claim they can't find it and offer you compensation. Bureaucracy at its best
