Thanks so much for the tips! I appreciate your videos so much! I am just starting out. Hoping to go to school but for now I'm 8 months into Legal Secretary. Mostly Estate Planning. Some criminal and some personal injury. I was home with my kiddos for 18 years and I was a secretary in another life (before kids) but all this new technology is giving me a steep learning curve! I'm still taking old school notes by hand during the day but it's incredibly helpful as a reference later on if needed. Keeping clean /organized is so important I've found. Especially in a small firm where I'm at the front receiving clients. I set an alarm for an hour before end of day to organize appointments for the next day and have documents and materials ready and also make sure that I have my list of tasks and tied up loose ends. I also check in with both attorneys if they are still there and text the paralegal to double check make sure there isn't anything pressing before I shoot off. If I don't do that, I could honestly work until midnight and still be busy! I wouldn't have it any other way though. I am loving it.

I always feel like I’m behind lol . I just started last week and I’m already drowning but blocking off time and jotting things down as soon as I think about it. I never trust my memory lol

Oh... Hahaha don't worry. My short term memory is looong gone. Hahaha. I really appreciate your videos. I just started my internship. Do you have one about systems of keeping in touch with client's? My attorneys say They forgot who've they've been in contact with so they call them and the clients say "You just talked to me yesterday." So now it's my assignment.

Have them use OneNote to keep their notes and perhaps a log - when they called, who they talked to, and a summary of information exchanged or provided. If you have Microsoft 365, I would encourage you to use Microsoft Lists. However, OneNote is free, available across all devices, and most importantly, it keeps things simple. Before the attorneys call the next client, they can look at the OneNote Notebook and see when they called, who they spoke with, and what was said. Documenting is key! Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you!

May I make a personal comment? You're adorable without makeup. Spoken as the mother of two women and grandmother of one.
