    Thank you for putting your story here. I do attest to what you said, I have been working as a Corporate Paralegal for about 7 years in California and I make six figures. I initially wanted to go to law school, but the idea of being over 100k in loans was not for me. I been fortunate enough to work with great attorneys on smaller boutique firms who have prepared me for my current position in Big Law. I would recommend the career to anyone who is passionate about law and helping clients.

    Yeah, at 49 about to graduate with a Bachelors in Business and do NOT want to do the four more year of school and $100k in student loans. I’ll take on the 13k ABA approved Paralegal program for 8 months and sit for the NALA!

    I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment that you’re not a staff member, you’re a team member... and it’s part of changing the culture around the industry.

    Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm working on a career change from education towards paralegal. I have a bachelor's degree in history and work experience in education, however I don't have enough work experience or education to transfer my skills to be a paralegal. So I enrolled in a Paralegal certificate program through community college in CA, I feel so blessed to be able to complete the program for free (community college classes are now free for low income California residents). I also want to complete a litigation certificate, and eventually apply for the NALA paralegal certificate. I'm super excited about this new chapter in my life.

      @@LG-gu8cj hey! I'm attending Canada College in Redwood City, I applied for the California College Promise Grant and the class fees were waived so the grant pays for books.

    Thank you for your videos. I am a contract paralegal and I own my own practice, and I'm currently working for criminal defense attorneys. My specialization is state (Texas) and federal habeas corpus. I've been technologically challenged but I'm getting there, thanks to your instructional videos. I completed a paralegal program and then graduated from law school and also earned a B.S. and 2 M.A. degrees academically. I'm sure you will agree that (1) one must be serious about pursuing a career as a paralegal, and (2) today, one must grow with the technology available to remain competitive in the profession.

    Thank-you for the awesome story of your education and career. Definitely motivational as im currently doing a diploma of paralegal studies and also on my very last subject of my degree in criminology and criminal justice which thankfully in Australia has only costed around 32,000$ australian dollars for both programs. Was deciding on whether or not to do my Jurice Doctor but am thinking of getting some experience as a para legal first at the least. And might i respectfully and tastefully say that you look amazing for 40, i thought you were late 20s or something. 🙂

    I also have my paralegal degree but I’m not in the legal field (just yet), I finally got a job offer outside of retail in finance banking which will give my some other experience and maybe in the future, I’ll be able to land a legal position. 😌
    Let’s go paralegals! ⚖️

    I’m finishing my BA in poly sci. There’s a 5 week program for paralegal. I love law. I’ve see how hard it is for people and I wanna help. But now I’m conflicted and I feel like a failure with my family being doctors and lawyers and I don’t know how to say I may not go to law school... but I’ve been applying for legal assistant positions since I’m graduating. I am stuck. I want to be in my sons life. And not part time.

    Can you give some words of advice for paralegals hoping to make 6 figures? I'm only in my third year of doing it, but I already feel so discouraged by low pay

    • @ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray
      @ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't start to make that sort of money until I ventured out on my own. It will honestly depend where you are in the U.S. For instance, a Patent & Trademark Paralegal working in the Chicago (IL) Loop can make upwards of six figures after about 5 to 7 years of experience, but that same Paralegal (with the same years of experience) might make $50k a year working in the same state, but in a suburban town like Naperville, IL. The state, the city, the area of law, the years of experience, your willingness to be adaptable, flexible, and innovative, etc. will all play pivotal roles in your Paralegal career. Treat it like a business, learn from your mistakes, network well, and always think 5 steps ahead. You've got this! Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you!

    Brief& Great information! ! I’m curious if one in able to become a paralegal but then later take the bar exam, is it possible you hold both titles ?

    • @ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray
      @ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, absolutely. I know a couple of Paralegals who went to law school and have a J.D., but chose to remain a Paralegal. It isn't something I see often, but I've seen it and I'm actually working with a Paralegal now who has a J.D. and is working as a Paralegal at a top tier law firm in the U.S. She's been there for years and we're just working to level-up her tech skills. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you!

    Hi, I have a question. I'm applying for my O1 visa through a paralegal, she's lawyer for 8 years and has passed her BAR exams but just not licenced to practise in CA. How safe do and successful you guys think it is? She has worked in several Immigration Lawyers Office for 4 years prior to this. She also happens to be recommended by a lawyer friend of mine to save me some money. Thanks

    • @ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray
      @ArrowConsultants_MistyMurray  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If she is not licensed to practice law in the state she is in, then it is technically an unauthorized practice of law. California has very strict rules about a Paralegal (paraprofessional or non-lawyer) practicing law, and in fact, they are one of the states pushing the hardest against licensing paralegals to practice law in any capacity in California. While many believe Paralegals are the answer to closing the justice gap, California's governor recently signed a Bill barring the California Bar Association from funding any further development of the Paralegal (or paraprofessional) licensing program. Having said all of this, I'm not completely familiar with your situation, or with her situation, and this is all my humble opinion. Of course, you're welcome to research this information and I would encourage you to do so. Humbly, if one is not licensed to practice law, then one should not be practicing law. Good luck! Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you!
