Having survived his retreat to the desert and finding that small cache of gold in the stagecoach strongbox...attending various coin shows and cherry picking the best coins at less than wholesale greysheet...then to move in and out the Panama canal to command the Pacific/Atlantic coasts (a Costa Rican lay over)...and now to tempt with more gold hoards..Ben the mesmerizing numismatic whisperer!
Thanks for the eagle Ben! I had been looking to exchange some soon to be worthless fiat for an eagle. obviously our currency is almost worthless as $1100 needed to exchange for a $10 gold coin. This level of gold coin is generally in my view; limited, certified, not to high over bullion cost.
@@bubba9985 An early 19th century (1804) dollar coin sold, this past August, for $7,000,000. That dollar is now worth seven million times it's face value. Do you consider that hyper-inflationary? Or may some other forces have played into the appreciation of this coin?
@@bubba9985 You might have run into some pretty grungy gold coins. It might be that you're dealing with coins that have no value beyond melt. In my view, it is best to sell those to the refiner. I've not known gold coin values in my collection to fluctuate relative to the correlative effect of inflation on spot price. Even the very common '09 D $5 Indians have been decoupled from spot price for decades (at least) ...likely more.

I have always loved the design on the back of the Twenty dollar gold coins too, but I'm sure some would call it ho-hum. Edit: I should have said the reverse of the Twenty Dollar Liberty coins
I love coins from the old west. It would be nice to go back in time.
I wish I could afford even one of these. Thank for sharing like always Ben

Ben, as my favorite coins, I loved this stream on the liberty gold series. It's really great to see things that come in to your shop.

@@NefariousEnough That price is based on a rarity and demand. A common gold coins value is based on the spot price which correlates to inflation.
