I am not aware of any Bachmann Climaxes that are just "DCC ready." That is, where the motor is already isolated from the electrical pickup. As far as I know Bachmann went from the bare bones model, with little internal wiring, to the DCC installed model. I bought the loco in the video on eBay 2-3 years ago where the seller specified that it was new and had factory installed DCC. To my knowledge there were no markings on the loco indicating that DCC was installed or that it was "DCC ready."
They are 25mm x 7mm 12V 2Pin DC Ventilation Exhaust Cooling Fan bought on Amazon. Two for $10. I debated as to whether they are actually needed. Bachmann only included a cooling fan on the locos with built-in DCC. I doubt that fan cooling is actually needed, but included it to be on the safe side.
I’m on the AirWire system. I use the Convertr which wires directly into decoders. Many who have gotten the B’mann locos with DCC have removed all original electronics as things can be a tight squeeze. It’s definitely interesting how many electronics come with this locomotive.
wow Bachmann really makes it easy to convert to battery power. Unlike with the vintage trains by New Bright, Echo, Eztec/ Scientific Toys. (since they use 4 or 6 C cells, that's 9 volts and 6 volts).
Do you still have any images of your wire setup from the charging jack and the switch? I dont know why, but when I wire my locomotive to the specks on the circuit diagram, it won't charge the engine?
The circuit diagram for connecting the charging jack, the switch, and the BlueRailDCC board (labeled Throttle) appear at 12:08 in the video. If that is not the info you need please contact me at sseiden@att.net and we can have a conversation about your issue.
I recently just battery converted my own climax with the same battery, Could you tell me how long it takes to charge? I don’t have a charger with a light to tell me, so I am wondering if you know how long it takes to charge from an empty battery?
I am not sure I understand your question. At 7:24 you will see the two BlueRailDCC board DCC out wires connected to the Bachmann BATT terminals. That connection remains. The BRDCC board remains in the fuel bunker. There is no need to add any other wires.
Big WooooW Steve!!!,... Simply Amazing''..... Masterful work like all the others done by you '',.... thank you very much!!!,...
Very nice info video on the climax. Could you tell what model climax arr dcc ready? Thanks

Very interesting video! That is a great looking locomotive. Could you provide more specific information on the cooling fans?

A typical charger will charge that empty battery to full charge in several hours. They will charge to 80-90% capacity in about and hour.

How did you get the wires to hook the blue rail trains borde to the train from the inside?
