@@superwarp12 It sure is! I was debating converting this to Blunami if I couldn't get these electronics to work. But both Blunami and PS3 would make it way easier to work on.
I have a similar Great Northern RS-1. It was from early 2000s NIB. The trucks were frozen soild with the original dried grease. I didn't have any instructions or schematics. I have worked on a lot of 0-scale models. This, without a doubt, was the biggest PITA I've ever worked on. It is a very nice model, though. However, I am not looking forward to ever doing a thorough servicing again. This model might be a good candidate for Blunami.
@DRCRailroard Yeah, getting the trucks separated from the motor is not a simple task, and getting it back together is even harder! But I agree with you on them being beautiful models! I'm going to have to take it apart one more time to put in the electro couplers and I'm not looking forward to it. It's great to hear it's not just me who struggles. I also thought this would be a great candidate for blunami, but all the stock electronics seem to work so I think I'll save the $200+ and just keep the EOB. But if anything ever fails, you know I'm putting Blunami in it. Haha! Thanks for watching!
I wish I could get my RS1 to smoke like that. And sound like that. But, in HO scale it's just not going to happen! BTW, that guy goes on the other side. RS1s all ran long hood forward. The engineer is always on the Right hand side. The side with two windows.
@FHollis-gw4cc you could probably get some great sounds with a LokSound decoder from ESU assuming you can figure out how to fit it in. These engines are tight on space in any scale! There already was a figure on the engineers side. Most of scale models have a figure on both sides of the cab. The engine seemed to be holding strong, but the conductor/fireman (I'm not sure what they would have been called back then) kept falling out. Thanks for watching!
@CSXrailfan814 Haha! It was all that steam era knowledge they had. They couldn't break free of it. But hey, at least they performed better than Baldwins of the same era.
I have the same engine. I know they are a real pita to open up. I’ll be converting mine to PS3. That EOB is a real tight fit

Well it's an alco. They never seemed to figure out that diesel aren't sopost to smoke like a steamer.
