Awesome! One shots are a whole other thing. Super fun though! I find one shots to be maybe more work than a normal session because you're trying to make sure it all wraps up cleanly in just one session.
I've just been outlining One-shots games, I've finished a Goblin, 2 Space, Fantasy Western, 2 Superhero, and working on a Amusement Park (techno zombie thing). Waiting for the world to settle down before starting any long campaign's, although still running the 6 year old DND game (wife's game)
Woah! Those all sound like crazy ideas. I've normally run more vanilla games. This time I'm experimenting with running a game that takes the players to a city large enough to run the whole campaign there. I've never had a city that ACTUALLY had enough content for an entire campaign, I think I will this time!
@@NickPierson I break the city into districts, and have key locations in each area with lists of random NPC's, street events, and shops. I also make sure the players have some place they feel is theirs, as owners or just a trusted allies place. I also draw the street and area around their place. I don't know how many times the random list has saved the game, like the food cart guy that had to pay insurance to local thugs. When plans got changed and I wake up an hour before, we'll all there.
Yeah, districts feels like the right way to go. Breaks things up into smaller categories and also each place can have it's own unique feel. I usually use lists for names, but I might need random whole NPCs as well in the city. And quests! A big city shouldn't just be up to the players to make their own way. Just like the wider world, there's gotta be quests and adventure to be had IN the city.
@@NickPierson I also do a Contacts thing, so they can just pick a few people they know in the city. They make the name, occupation, and how they met. So even the orphan loner has something you can use.
Tag Line for the Goblin one-shot "Return the Helm, Save the Village" some adventures stole it and went back to town.
Just started creating a One Shot and I just finished the pregens for the characters.

@@NickPierson My tag line for my this one shot is: "Unlikely friends ascend to godhood by defeating an ancient dark dragon."
That sounds super cool!

I think your tagline should be "Heroes in this place doing this thing"
Hard to argue with that!
Tagline for my campaign next year: Vegeta comes to Earth but there is no Goku to save it
