i think this guy genuinely appreciates liam's responses and finds him funny. but otherwise regardless of who it is, i do dislike fake laughers in their poor attempts to socialize whilst being totally uninteresting. It's what people do, when they are unable to actually connect with people on a real level. But they're insecure, and they care about how they're perceived. So are trying to be appealing. Which is why it grosses me out. It's dishonest, and the people tend to be manipulative in that weird socially accepted way. Like I'd rather be not connected with, vs having people happen at me in superficial, lame ways.
Sometimes the tension of a situation like that can make you laugh more. (A lot of stand-up comedians try to create that tension in the room to increase laughter.)
