Lol, that reaction to Burning men's souls was priceless. I can actually explain a bit of context to that one. Basically, that whole "rap" comes from this really obscure sample pack called "Masterbits Clímax 6 - RAPsody". It was made in the 90's by a German company that no one can find any info on and is probably dead and there are at least 16 more rap samples in that pack that sound just like it. Pure gas.
29:05 Awww! I didn't know that! Now I really wish we got FeMC in Reload. She sounds sweet. I like that they're different, but I'll admit I'm a sucker for characters that try to be happy and bright even when they aren't. It's admirable.
That aspect of FeMC is confirmed by certain parts of the game & ancillary media like mangas. There’s literally a chapter that’s basically dedicated to the other characters asking FeMC “Are you doing okay lately? Your smiles lately have been looking & feeling “fake or forced” to put it lightly. Do you need help?” & her having a breakdown about it in private.
This was a cool stream to catch and discuss! 20:30 It's debated. For a while the general consensus of each of the games was 'P3 has the best story, p4 has the best social links/friendship feel, p5 has the best gameplay.' That being said with P3's remake releasing imo it takes the gameplay spot now too as 5 is just incredibly easy past a certain point. P5 is also the first game in the series to really add the style and flair you see, like with the games UI menu animations. 5 also was the first game to introduce unique all out attack finishers, stuff like that. 54:52 This isnt too bad. This gameplay shows the hardest difficulty, so of course you'd be overwhelmed. You just have to acclimate, This uses 6 buttons, Guitar hero, a more common rhythm game in the west, uses five + a strum key thing. Just like with guitar hero or other video games in the genre more experienced people tend to read the notes when they first appear and then just time them, so here you'd be staring more at the center of the screen so you can see all the note info as it spawns, in guitar hero you'd be staring at the top of the screen where the notes first come in, etc. Rhythm games are extremely popular in Japan, plus its less effort overall to make a game like this than an entirely new game. 39:15 This isnt too uncommon in my experience. Capcom used to do it with Monster Hunter, pretty much all older fighting games used to release like this too. Anyway I mentioned I'd elaborate on my stance on this so prepare for an awfully long essay. I have no issue with rereleases in the manner Atlus does it with specifically the Persona series; as typically there are such numerous and drastic changes that to me, both feel like different experiences. 5 Royal isnt just 'vanilla 5 + story dlc' its a whole bevy of changes that makes the game different. I've added a non-spoiler list below. 5R alone added: -Changes to already coded days to allow more free time -An entire new overworld area -Expansions & changes to social links -Changes to battle mechanics and added unique mechanics -A bunch more personae -Switched up order of unlockables compared to base P5 -Changes and expansions to every dungeon + its mechanics -More character portraits -Multiple entirely new characters developed throughout the game, not just an add on taped on at the end of the game. -An extra dungeon (debatably 2 new dungeons) -New side quests -A bunch of extra cutscenes and animated scenes & thats just what i could think of off the top of my head, theres far more. I think if Atlus switched to dlc for this then we wouldnt get as many numerous changes. Further, its not as if you arent getting a complete product if you buy vanilla. At least in terms of the Persona series, every games base version has a beginning, middle and end, tied up, and is a great experience on its own, so I don't really feel like the rerelease coming out retroactively devalues the base game experience. Further, each version tends to take 3-4 years to rerelease which I always felt was enough of a break. I personally cant speak on soul hackers/smt as I havent played it, but im talking about Persona specifically here. Switching over to dlc feels odd imo, as I personally do not see how such numerous and drastic changes like the ones introduced in Royal from base five could even be done as a dlc, in fact one of my worries about fans requesting the dlc addon over rereleases is the potential risk I feel that could effect on the additional changes added. To simplify; I worry if Atlus decided to switch to dlc practices in terms of content, itd result in lesser overall changes to the game and instead really feel like vanilla experience + dlc rather than FES, Golden and Royals overarching changes to the entire game. On an admittedly selfish personal level, id rather they still continue doing release A and rerelease B as, tbh, I get to play the game series im excited for earlier. Games take years and years to make nowadays and I have no idea how long its going to take till Persona 6 comes out. The Royal hype cycle for me was very special as I poured over all the new trailers and got super excited for it, theories made, it was a really special experience for me. While I sympathise with people not wanting to play '80% of old content for the 20% new content' I just dont see it that way and think thats reductive to the sheer number of changes each rerelease tends to do.
Very comprehensive comment but I appreciate the explanations for everything! TOO MUCH 4 the worst of the 3
Damn no ones safe from your bad takes thats crazy
Already planning on playing 4 after 3 but I’m so curious about it now 😭
4 is the BEST one of the 3.
That must be the worst comment I have ever seen about this franchise.
I agree. My main problem in P4 is that perv and that game is too happy for me. And i almost forgot that hermit social link, it sucks.
My favorites in order are
1.P3R
2.P5R
3.P4G
@@NotImportantPersonNumber2 Being happy == bad? Wth lol
The theme of the game is Serial Murder and Investigation.
Just because the cast is great and they're actual friends with funny interactions, it doesn't mean the game is bad.
It's actually the opposite.
P3R on the other hand, has the worst cast in the franchise, with many inconsistent scenes and ideals.
Strega be like: We must not get attached to this world things, otherwise we will fear death because of those things. We don't care about anything.
Also Strega: NOO! Don't destroy Tartarus so we don't lose our personas we're extremely attached to!!
Besides many other inconsistent scenes.
Persona 3 must be the most overrated game in the franchise lol
