  • I go over stats as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each gun and attempt to rank them. Thankfully this rundown has the most balanced set of weapons that we have gotten so far. I also go over each of the new melee weapons as well.

    It seems I forgot to actually add in the stats for the Hel Gun. Here they are for anyone that is interested.

    You're missing the best part of the knife: if you're charging the second attack and you cancel it your character does a little flippy animation thing to reset back to the idle pose. It's very satisfying to use over and over whilst walking around.

    Hey I really appreciate you making this analysis man. I share your thoughts regarding the sawed off shotgun and the machine pistol. They're cool concepts but man could they use some buffs. I think the MP could do with a big range and stagger buff to make up for its poor damage. And I feel the SOS should be what the Scattergun can't be, a close range swarm clearer. Increasing the amount of pellets would be great for clearing a chunk of close and grouped up enemies. I don't think it'd be too strong due to its tiny mag size and small total ammo count. It should at least be almost guaranteed to stagger what's within a few meters imo.

      Yeah, the MP and sawed off need some love. I really don't know why the MP even exists, they have a different gun called the auto pistol which has a 5x stagger multi. At least for that gun it makes since for it to just shoot a bunch, because it is designed to be low damage-high stagger. Sawed off just needs a rework for it to actually be useful, right now the damage trade off for losing a primary weapon is just too poor to be worthwhile.

      I am all for both weapons getting a pretty decent buff/rework, considering they're personal favorites. A shame to know I've been tanking my team's chances of succeeding in the lower levels just because I like 'em, though.

    Solid video my man :) I enjoyed it thoroughly even as someone whose put thousands of hours in the game :)
    My only slight changes would be the Sawed off is more like a c-tier gun imo- The key is you need to watch someone whose mastered the gun to see its full potential. I agree though it needs to be buffed with clip size or spread like choke mod.
    I really think the Shotgun is an A-tier gun with Hel gun and Heavy Assault. When you see the best solo runners in the game use a gun you know its at least A-tier.
    I think pre-nerf Scatter is also an S-tier gun - unbelievable power. But post nerf Scatter is C or even D tier gun. Feels pointless. A great example of over-nerfing imo
    I would also put sniper in A-tier as overall. Mainly because unless your unreal with it, it won’t serve you as well as say a Hel-gun or shotgun would. I really think putting these in the context of duos and solos really puts the guns to the full test.
    I think scatter gun pre nerf might be the only s-tier gun in this game - which in all honesty is probably ideal not to have anything too OP.

    Thanks for another educational video. Stuff like this is really helpful for newcomers to the series to make a daunting task more palatable. Hopefully weapons will be normalized to make different playstyles more viable.

    The issue with the bat is its internal staggers interrupting part break staggers on giants and cause your teammates to be whacked by a giant as a result of the shorter stagger window.

    I like the sawd off meme build, definitely feels like a nerf compared to other weapons. The group stagger can be useful if you get a "good" spray off mid range it can stop 3-4 in their tracks.
    Your right it needs a more concentrated cone or more pellets to compensate it feels weak in most respects..
    It is nice to be able to switch to quickly, kill/stagger a close enemy, then switch back to secondary/melee and kind of helps if your running a melee main in sticky situations where quick firepower is needed as you can drop 3 targets faster than most other weapons. Some maps that have alot of giants it can be useful to quickly take down rooms when a friendly wakes them up as it has a high amount of burst damage with a reload time just enough to complete within 1 crouch slide+jump without losing speed. This can allow you to close distances after kills fast while reloading, and line up combo stumbles so your teammates can line up shots easily and not get hit.
    If you combine the sawd off with kiting it is a very useful tool and can allow you to kite for very long period easily despite the stamina debuff, the guaranteed stagger + crouch slide shots can be a fun thing to master while kiting.

    Not too far off from my pleb experiences, my go too is the carbine and the malatak.
    I like telling people that the MG is just the malatak but it shoots twice as fast with half the damage.

    I would assume the hipfire number indicates how many degrees the bullet deviates from where you're aiming (cone of fire).

    Honestly Bullpup is a A tier, carried it with ease from A1 to D4 always been a very solid gun.

    personally I don't like the burst weapons, my main problem with them is that they waste ammo too much. on paper they sound great but in practice when you're moving around avoiding enemies, and the enemies are running around, most of the rounds in your burst miss, only like 2 or 3/4 rounds hit, which can mean in a worse case only half your mag gets used (assuming that you didn't mag dump into a wall at all). the SMG on the other hand allows you to pepper your shots and have more control over your ammo, and even better would be one of the single shot weapons. but this is just my opinion , great vid.

    Put of curiosity, what would make the knife and spear more on par with their counterparts? I've also rapidly noticed the redundancy between knife and bat, though I still enjoy using spear for scout killing since the extra range helps lots when you're bad at it.

      Well for starters they could actually fix the spear's multi-hit so it works properly. But I would up its precision multi up to 1.5 so that it could 3 shot hybrids and big shooters. This way it is noticeably better than the other options in terms of giant killing, and it would have a clear and defined role. If the base damage was increased to 20 along with the precision multi buff, so that it would be better for giant strikers but that might be too large of a buff.
      The knife is worse just as a byproduct of how fast stealth and general melee clearing work. Enemies are always too spread out to the point where the difference in time between charging knife and any other melee, is made up in the time it takes to move to that enemy. This rundown they also reduced the enemy spawn densities and made it so they are even more spread out than before. If they were to undo that change, or if we had zones with highly dense clusters of enemies, the knife might see more use. As it stands now the only reason to run knife is because it has no stamina cost, or if you don't know how to do fast/walk stealth.

    Thoughts on a DMR + revolver combo?
    Also do you have any tips for beating R6 level D1?
    My current loadout is the assault rifle and shotgun (super generic, but reliable across a variety of scenarios).

      DMR + revolver is pretty good if you can find a spot with a large sight line, and it is fairly easy to solo hold most alarms with it if you can aim well.
      For D1 a sniper rifle is basically required just because of the boss at the end.
      For the tank at the end of the reactor:
      The tank will always aggro on the last person who shot it. You can have your sniper on one side of the tank and anyone else on the other side. Have the non-sniper shoot the tank to get his aggro and so his back faces the sniper, then the sniper just shoots him. Repeat this until tank is dead. Don't have anyone else shoot the tank because it can mess with the aggro and cause sniper to miss or not be able to see the tumors.
      For the scout room:
      Learn to melee them. If you can't melee them, then pray.
      For the Class VI:
      Enemies spawn 1 floor above you, so there aren't any super OP sentry spots. You can put sentries facing down the staircases on the center platform (where the S1 scan is). You can either leave them there or move them with you as you do the scans. If there are a ton of enemies and you can't hold, back off and clear before going back into the scan. The scans always go to the same spot so once you know where the scans go, it gets a bit easier.

      The nerf to the pistol's range makes it so a majority of the time it will take 4 shots to kill instead of 3. Taking an extra shot to kill is more impactful on weapons like the pistol, that don't take many bullets to kill. For instance the machine pistol and SMG take 1 less bullet to kill this rundown than they did last one, but that kind of buff isn't nearly as impactful on those guns.

    As a new player, would you say this tier list is set in stone for what to use, or am I allowed to just use whatever.
    Also, would you choose bat over hammer, vice versa, or are they identical in effectiveness?

      Like I said at the beginning, you can use anything and still find success with it. You can use what you want, but obviously using better stuff is going to make things easier.
      I use the hammer over the bat because I like to melee kill giants and because the higher damage means you aren't punished for missing the enemies head. They are roughly the same in strength. Hammer for higher damage, bat for higher speed.

    I think this is the most balanced GTFO weapons ever been.
    Machine Pistole and Saw-off sorta fall out of general use, but other than that i have no issue telling people to use whatever they feel like and have fun with it.
    Heavy Assault is definitelly my personal favorite this rundown, for both combat and general feel reasons.

    I'll admit, this video seems fairly biased. I understand that it's a personal tier list, but even then it should be more generalized, case in point being the spear. I honestly would put all the melee in the same tier, with maybe the speed ones higher, even though i myself prefer damage over speed. Spear and hammer are great for beginners and vets alike. And even though I myself don't enjoy the pistol very much, I would put it in at least A tier, given the stats for it are as good as they are. But I can still appreciate a well made and well thought out tier list.

      I don’t quite get what you mean by making it more generalized. This isn’t suited towards any particular play style, more so it’s what guns kill the best.
      The melees are not the same in strength especially in the case of the spear. You have no mobility, so attempts to melee awake enemies will nearly always result in damage taken even with the bonus range. The precision multiplier doesn’t change the kill breakpoints by any meaningful amount, even on an occiput hit against giants it is less then 2 pistol shots difference in damage. The piercing mechanic doesn’t function correctly right now, and even if it did it would be only useful in stealth. Even for killing giants, it runs into the same issue the hammer had last rundown which is that you can only break 4 limbs on an enemy so you can only get 4 safe hits + a killing hit on a giant. It takes 6 hits to kill a giant, so you have to get back damage on the giant in order to not take damage. The problem is you are farther away from the giant and can’t sprint behind him with spear vs bat or hammer, plus the latter 2 can easily stagger without breaking limbs. Compound all of that with the fact that the spear provides no stagger utility and it really doesn’t seem like a great choice.
      As I established in the video, every melee can clear at more or less the same speeds. The knife is objectively the fastest, but the speed you gain is largely irrelevant. It might be a better option if you don’t know how to multikill enemies, but this is why I said the spear and knife are worse the better you are at the game. Their purposes are done by the other two melee options, and knife and spear provide no utility to boot.
      Depending on who you ask the pistol could be A tier. I didn’t put it there because the range nerf hit it hard, and nearly all other primaries got buffed. It is among the strongest of the B weapons, but I don’t feel like it compares on the same level as the hel revolver and DMR.

      @@TheRealKhepri Even so, I would still gravitate towards the spear and hammer than the other two for my personal playstyle. I don't much care for the bat or knife from gameplay standpoints, even though for different levels they can god tier weapons in the right hands. I will always prefer the higher damage over speed, and because i'm not planning on soloing anything in the game, the spear makes good when used in coordination with your team, thus the 4 limb breaks etc has no merit on how i play. The mobility can be an issue if you don't hit crits, but i've gotten by just fine without being able to sprint while charging. Thank you for the discussion so far.

    Ok I agree w most of the tier list, but I just used the sawed off twice, and that does not deserve F tier! One shotting the small guys from close range for 2% without having to aim well is really good

      As I said at the beginning, just because a weapon ranks lower it doesn't mean that you can't find success with it. The sawed off ranks the lowest because while it can 1 shot small enemies, it isn't consistent even at the weapons optimal range. It also has the 2nd lowest kills per mag out of every single gun. The sawed off requires you to let enemies get within melee distance for it to be useful and you can only kill 3 at a time. Every other primary weapon can kill more than 3 and also do it from much further away. Other primaries can kill enemies from a distance before they become too much of a problem, while the sawed off requires them to already be a problem in order to be useful.

      19k/full = 19 potential kills if you have 100% ammo
      10k/refill = 10 potential kills from one use of an ammo pack
      5k/mag = 5 potential kills from one full magazine

    A little late to the party here, but I believe that the bat is a objective A tier because it honestly has the best of both worlds. Fast attack, low stamina, decent damage and that stupid amount of stun.

    Knife is not that bad, you can use that to kill a group of enemy and dont have to worry much about waking them up fast group kill = less chance to wake the room and lose health. Knife can 1 shot giant with syringe and from the back of the head.
    The bat should be on A tier because you can stun striker, shooter and even charger with 1 tap ( no charge ), stun giant will full charge, delay hit, kill scout with booster or just back of head and 1 tap locker.

      All of the melee weapons can multikill with relative ease, so waking up the room isn’t too big of a risk. Bat is the only melee that can’t 1 shot a giant with syringe, but it leaves it on low enough HP that a single tap will kill it. The hammer can also stagger strikers, shooters, and chargers without needing to charge up an attack. The hammer can also still stagger giants on a full charge. 1 shotting locks isn’t too important. Hammer and bat provide the same utility as each other, but the hammer does more damage and the bat charges faster.

    the knife should be in b since it can kill scouts to the back of the head as can bat plus knife is just good at killing 8 enemies in a row

      Knife is in C because bat and hammer can also kill 8 enemies in rapid succession. It takes 0.2s longer to charge enough to kill with the bat vs the knife, so if you really want speed then run bat. By using knife you also forfeit all of the utility that the bat provides. Stamina is really the only reason to use knife, but a majority of the time it doesn’t come into play.

      @@TheRealKhepri knife can kill more than 8 enemies in a row faster than bat and hammer can
      in my experience of using it this is the case especially since the hammer cannot one tap sleepers to the back of the head if this was still a thing then yet hammer could kill quicker
      but most players watching this will still be working out how the melee weapons work for themselves so they will be fully charging or half charging the hammer

      @@RedLeicesterCheese Bat and hammer only need to gain 0.3333… damage to kill to occiput. The amount of charge that takes is extremely low. If you are doing melee you are not just running into enemies because you will die. You are strafing, dodging, and attempting to get behind for bonus damage. The bat is 0.2s slower than knife for charge to kill. When attempting to melee you will quite often have an extra 0.2s of time where you are not hitting something. Especially if you are running towards an enemy. Again, the knife can kill faster but if enemies are spread out it doesn’t save time, or if you go for occiput hits it also doesn’t save much time. You lose all utility by running knife, in exchange for marginally faster clear times.
      Whether a weapon is easier to use for new players is largely irrelevant to its overall strength. If something is harder to use but also more effective, then it is still a more effective weapon. If a weapon has a learning curve, but can outperform other weapons at the end of the curve, then it is a better weapon.

    I really don't think what weapons you take matter beyond some niche uses. I used spear and machine pistol all the time and I've cleared everything in R6 plus the PEs. Just use what you want.

      As I said at the beginning of the video, just because a weapon ranks lower doesn’t mean that you can’t be successful with it. Using the best gear would increase the chance of success over using worse gear. You can run whatever you want, some people just like to use what’s good.

    The sniper buff was definitely... probably too strong, but frankly before the buff I found it very difficult to justify bringing because you were just SO heavily punished for hitting anything other than a headshot on a giant. The old stats of 3 rounds per pack was super harsh to deal with. For me it almost always seemed better to bring anything else in 95% of situations.
    For average teams, sniper is still noticeably less useful for clearing add waves than other specialized weapons, and the long reload hurts a lot under pressure.
    So it's almost always worth having SOMEONE bring one on a run, but it almost necessitates someone else to bring a Heavy AR or Machinegun to balance out the group.
    I don't want to underplay its power and efficiency, because holy shit, but as the designated sniper for most teams I play with, I 100% feel the downsides when many small enemies are in play.

    27:34 counter argument. You are bad with the knife. The knife is good for clearing rooms at unmatched speed, the better you are at the game the less stealth you need. With a knife you can sprint around and ignore stamina and clear rooms 5x faster than any other melee. Only real downside is you just can’t use it against giants.

    I heard someone else saying it was OP, so... I don't believe anyone anymore calling anything OP. Too many people like to call everything OP to shame others or because they don't like it or want other people using it who enjoy it or are better with it than the everything is OP crowd. I just use spear because I am so good with it and it always does what I need it to do. I also love the heavy revolver lol. I find it to be more reliable and accurate than the HEL in 1 shot killing at any range. I still like the HEL gun a lot, too, but it definitely suffers beyond close range.
    That's just my own 2 cents though. The video is still very informative in getting a better grasp of what weapons are made to do. My general mindset is "I suck so what will make me suck less". Then I stick to what I end up not sucking at. Normally this is not my kind of game, but my boyfriend and I have been having a lot of fun in it and I've been digging the old 80s vibes lol. I am a huge fan of old movies and immersive horror settings like Dead Space and The Thing and Aliens. The game nails all the right buttons for me.
